'Not A Step Back' Simple Soviet Union Achievement Method - HOI4: By Blood Alone

- In a slightly older video I had hanging around I show a reliable and consistent guide to getting Not a Step Back and Just Proper Gander in Hearts of Iron 4. The achievements are not too hard in the sense that the goal is quite simple - its more so the time factor and failure pressure that felt like bundling them together. As I say near the end - this strat requires basically no skill so its good for people to replicate if they want a couple of achievements without the stress of getting caught up with Germany or Japan.

Romania has to take the focus, “Institute Royal Dictatorship” that switches it from democratic to nonaligned. There’s no point in boosting their party popularity until afterwards.
Hi! So the IRD focus sets the neutrality support in Romania to 65 - which is annoying for erasure but doesnt stop the remaining 35% molding as usual. If i have lets say 40% communism in Romania - when they take that focus I would have 17% communism to their 65 set neutrality. If I were to do nothing as you suggest 'theres no point' then when they take the focus I would have less than 1% popularity in Romania. Later in the video you may have saw how close the communism and fash support were, add into the mix that spies are unreliable and get caught/die so you cant guarentee their output over the few years you have to boost. Add that all up and suddenly that neglible 17% I got prior to the focus is suddenly a lot more impactful and could be the difference between a red or brown romania.

It's very weird that Hungary didn't join the Axis, I coincidentally was also going for this achievement yesterday, and the same thing happened.
I got "Not A Step Back" by attacking Turkey, (and Romania) and releasing five puppets. Then parking a truckload of divisions from
Moldova to the Baltic.
How about forming the Roman Republic as democratic Italy?

Can’t you just naval invade helsinki and then march a army in from there? You can just decide to not offer a WP
Why dont you use localized training centre and hire romanian spies? They have lesser chance to get caught.
This is true - i was just using the agents given because I truly didnt expect them to get caught and killed that often. Easily one of my unluckiest runs for spies...
