Disneycember continues onward! What's your favorite Nostalgia Critic episode? Comment here for a chance to win Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 on Blu-Ray. 1 Winner will be picked tomorrow!
I never knew she was from the future! It was released in 1999, so I always thought it took place in like.. 2000, and the space station was super advanced and weird because it's a space station. I mean, Earth doesn't look that different. Everyone's still dressed like the 90s/early 2000s! I was always confused as to why it was called "Zenon: Girl of The 21st Century" when the 21st century was only a year off from the year it was released omg.
As a person who likes musicals I actually enjoyed the first like 30 minutes of it lol, and that one kid who just jumped into the dance scene with the bikers or whatever was a really good dancer. The rest of the movie afterwards though was just pretty bad. Like that one song about why are they randomly singing
Benny Boi Honestly I thought it wasn’t bad compared to other Dcoms. Now Decedents sucked. They took a neat idea and made it into a cliche plot with annoying characters and the worst casting for Maleficent to date.
I think they still do. Of if they stopped it was recent. Overtime they play a DCOM at like 2-4AM what ALWAYS seems to come right after it Suite Life on Deck.
Pretty sure they stopped doing that a few years ago. Now the night is just full of reruns of current shows, side from Good Luck Charlie and original That's so Raven episodes.
If you don't call GLC recent I'm gonna feel old. It only ended 3 years ago... Anyway, they defiantly did that a lot last year, don't know about to day though.
Luna D They must’ve just started playing That’s so Raven episodes recently because of her spinoff. Because before, the oldest shows they’d air would be Suite Life on Deck/Wizards of Waverly Place. It was torture.
I love how the space station where kids live is dimly lit as if a Xenomorph is about to burst out of a vent and kill everyone Perhaps this movie is a prequel
Visions of your pretty face, send me into hyperspace. Caught up in a planetary whirl. Breathing in, you give me air. I'm living off your solar flare. Could you be my Supernova Girl?
I grew up with Zenon and it was my absolute favorite Disney Channel movie! It definitely resonates with tweens in those phases of not fitting in and finding your place, while still being true to yourself and doing what you feel is right.
I'm excited for Can of Worms, Alley Cats Strike, Phantom of the Megaplex, Kim Possible Movie, and Even Stevens Movie, Pixel Perfect, and Proud Family Movie. Sad Suzie Q doesn't count on technicality and he probably won't do Genius, I loved those as well
Owen you do know that Nostalgia Critic is connected to Disneycember right Doug is reviewing them as him self not as the character. Not that it would matter as Doug has reviewed movies in Disneycember right after they come out
I liked this movie when I was a kid. However, now that I am an adult I can ask important questions: what kind of parents send their raised in space kid to Earth?! Zenon could easily die because of the health issues caused by being in space for too long and returning to Earth, and she could die from a cold because of not being exposed to Earth's microorganisms. Also, why does the villain would cause the genocide of all the people living in the space station? The corporate loses would be bigger than what he would win from that plan. And I know Zenon's parents don't believe her because of her antecedents, but she had many witnesses, evidence, and the villain looks and behaves suspiciously.
could also question why there weren't any Security cameras or guards around the computer that keeps the entire space station from crashing, or for that matter why the heck Zenon did not USE A CAMERA when she was spying on Lutz, I mean what was her plan, break into the classified room, spy on the guy, then go tell someone with zero evidence (and an admission of breaking an entering) even for a 13 year old that's a bad idea (still enjoyed the movie as a kid, and have a soft spot for it as an adult)
It's really hard to pick my favorite nostalgia critic episode, but one that always stuck with me was The Illumination Lorax movie. At first I thought the movie was just mediocre. I never saw the original hand drawn short movie, however after watching that episode my whole outlook on the movie changed, very rare does that happen. When comparing a genuinely thought provoking, cautionary tale about the dangers of never having enough and the pursuit of profit at the expense of pillaging the natural world of all resources to the watered down, focus tested, basturdisation of a classic Dr. Seuss book, indifference turned to genuine distaste for it. It also partly influenced my decision to show my little sister kids movies that challenged her or had more to offer than simple entertainment value. Kids like her deserve more than a vehicle to sell toys and fast food, or ironically enough in this case, an actual vehicle. I hope you guys see this comment cuz I wanna win me that blu ray! Keep up the great content. :)
Troy McLame This was originally meant to become a series after the first movie but, for reasons I'm unsure of, it ended up with two sequel films instead.
What my icon here is based on lol I love this movie and I'm 31, I believe these disney channel movies are for adults as they are for kids, I think they are for both. Great review, I love hearing the positive stuff Doug liked, about the space station, and the differences to adjust too with space and earth! Ha yeah Zenon with the in your face thing, love that too, she's brave and can stand up for herself.
That's because it's one of the million or so dirt cheap films Disney made to go directly to the Disney Channel, or one of the sub channels, so unless you have the channel, and kids who watch it, you might never hear of these movies. I personally only know of them because of my 3 nieces, and 2 nephews along with my girlfriend's daughter have watched them at some point while at my house either when I had DirectTV, or now with my PSVue service which both carry the Disney Channels.
MeehLaq these are the kinds of american girl names that will be trending in 2049. Like Wieslaw and Zbigniew. Im waiting for those disney channel heroines.
This movie will always be my favorite DCOM because it premiered on my 6th birthday. I'll always have some of the fondest memories of this one and can relate to Zenon in different ways. I plan on Disneybounding as Nebula next year for the 20th anniversary.
If he is going by release order, according to Wikipedia he skipped Brink! and You Lucky Dog. But he said he was only doing the well praised and popular ones.
not even in my case, I was born in the 90s so by 2050 id be nearing 60, the adults in the movie must have been mid 30s - 40 given that they had teenage kids, so they would have been born in the 2010s at the earliest
What I really love about these reviews is that even if you didn't particularly enjoy the movie you still say all the things you liked about it and what you enjoyed about it. It is really enjoyable seeing these more optimistic reviews from movies which I thought wouldn't do anything well
Glad to see you aren't completely hating these. Also, no mention of the music? Not only was the score nice, but the end song just fits the cheesy 90's/futuristic feel of the movie completely.
I remember liking this movie so much when I was younger I convinced my friends at a slumber party to stay up till 4am to watch it, it was much more boring then I remembered.
Which holiday movie is the WORST. (Edit: I'll keep adding to the list if it is a REALLY bad holiday special/movie) 1.) The Christmas Tree 2.) The Star Wars Holiday Special 3.) Christmas with the Klanks 4.) 8 Crazy Nights 5.) Rapsittie Street Kids: Believing in Santa 6.) Saving Christmas 7.) We wish you a Turtle Christmas
I guess that depends on what irritates a person individually. For me personally; The Christmas Tree is hilariously bad in a similar vein to The Room, so I could probably watch it and laugh. So that would be lowest on the list for me. The Star Wars Holiday special would be kind of similar; although it helps that George Lucas hates it and wishes it was never made. If he felt differently and the Holiday special was treated as canon, that would really piss me off. As is, it's basically just embarrassingly bad fan fiction to me, so I could probably sit through it if I had to. It's almost a tie between 8 Crazy Nights and Christmas With the Kranks, but Christmas With the Kranks is slightly lower on the list because even though it's an obnoxious film, there are still one or two scenes where it's toned down a bit, which gives you a little break. With 8 Crazy Nights, it's difficult to even get through the Nostalgia Critic review because the film irritates me so much. So, that's my thoughts, 8 Crazy Nights is the worst in my opinion.
Jeez, I haven't seen this movie in forever, but I remember liking it. Judging from those clips, it definitely was more of a thing younger me would have liked. I wonder how many of these DCOMs I wouldn't like if I didn't have any nostalgia tied to it...
I always love when Disneycember comes around! Have you thought of possibly reviewing Brink? One of my personal favorites from growing up and I'd love to see you rip it a new one. Lmao!! Keep up the fantastic work!!!
Demetri 2 Well they could have been too old for the movie when it came out like myself, and I never knew of the movie till one of my nieces watched it while at my house a few years back.

Channel Awesome cool
Don't pick me just read end of comment lel not in for the contest
Channel Awesome my favorite Nostalgia Critic episode is the Jurassic Park review!
The Lorax
It has to be the review of Avatar: The Last Airbender
So it's the mid-21st century where space station people dress funky, but the Earth people dress like they're still in the late 90's.
Goodvillain 101 people are very nostalgic towards the 90s so why not.
And there’s someone driving a 50 year old beatle, by the movies standards
the hipsters took over
Being a hipster would be too mainstream for a hipster if hipsters were mainstream.
It’s a throwback look...
Dear god , Doug is actually enjoying and saying positive things about a Disney channel original movie , who honestly saw that coming ?
Just shows the difference between then and now. :p
Nathaniel Foga Also factor in that Doug hasn’t even grown up with this stuff. I find that even more interesting.
So far he's admitted that Under Wraps was weirdly fun like Monster Squads and Halloweentown is something mostly for kids.
Doug usually has more positive things to say about films like this or Tarzan 2 in comparison more popular ones like Halloweentown or Lion King 2
What about Under Wraps?
He made a positive review about *that.*
I never knew she was from the future! It was released in 1999, so I always thought it took place in like.. 2000, and the space station was super advanced and weird because it's a space station. Supernova Girl (or Zoom Zoom Zoom cause no one called it by it's proper name) was my jam. And depending on my mood, still is.
Yass, same
I cant wait until he gets to Teen Beach movie. It's The Room of DCOM's.
I'm pretty sure that the movie is aware that it's over-the-top cheesy and campy. It satirizing those 1960's beach movies.
As a person who likes musicals I actually enjoyed the first like 30 minutes of it lol, and that one kid who just jumped into the dance scene with the bikers or whatever was a really good dancer. The rest of the movie afterwards though was just pretty bad. Like that one song about why are they randomly singing
I don't know if it's the The Room. Yes, it's cheesy, but it is aware of that. You can't say that for many DCOM's...
M A K E L I K E T H E O C E A N A N D W A V E G O O D B Y E
Benny Boi Honestly I thought it wasn’t bad compared to other Dcoms. Now Decedents sucked. They took a neat idea and made it into a cliche plot with annoying characters and the worst casting for Maleficent to date.
I loved this movie so much as a kid. Looking back, it helped fuel my current love for sci-fi.
They used to play this movie at 4:00 AM every morning on Disney Channel.
I think they still do. Of if they stopped it was recent. Overtime they play a DCOM at like 2-4AM what ALWAYS seems to come right after it Suite Life on Deck.
They did it every night.
Pretty sure they stopped doing that a few years ago. Now the night is just full of reruns of current shows, side from Good Luck Charlie and original That's so Raven episodes.
If you don't call GLC recent I'm gonna feel old. It only ended 3 years ago...

Zoom, zoom, zoom. Make my heart go boom boom.
My supernova girl.

There's no gravity between us
Our love is automatic
Visions of your pretty face, send me into hyperspace. Caught up in a planetary whirl. Breathing in, you give me air. I'm living off your solar flare. Could you be my Supernova Girl?
Holy crap. I had totally forgotten about that song but just reading the lyrics made it all come back.
How do you forget that song? It's been stuck in my head, on and off, for at least a decade.
I grew up with Zenon and it was my absolute favorite Disney Channel movie! It definitely resonates with tweens in those phases of not fitting in and finding your place, while still being true to yourself and doing what you feel is right.
I'm 23 and I still love the Zenon movies
I guess you could say they make my heart go boom
Zetus lepatus! I'm having nostalgia major from this!!!
“Zoom zoom zoom make my heart go boom boom boom my super galactic girl.” I loved this movie
have a pickle super *nova
Hold on, this movie is set... in 2049?
BLADE RUNNER!
I love Disneycember
I'm excited for Can of Worms, Alley Cats Strike, Phantom of the Megaplex, Kim Possible Movie, and Even Stevens Movie, Pixel Perfect, and Proud Family Movie. Sad Suzie Q doesn't count on technicality and he probably won't do Genius, I loved those as well
oh and My Date With the President's Daughter
Alexander Schord What about Smart House?
oh yea can't forget that! Leela as a crazy killer 50's mom hologram house
I always feel like I'm the only one who remembers Phantom of the Megaplex lol.
And Alley Cat Strike! Holy crap, having thought about that in ages.
The Kim Possible movie would be awesome.
That should have ended the series. The forth season was underwelming.
Wait until he gets to Descentants. IF he gets to Descentants.
You will review Descentants, right Doug?
he already confirmed it, he will do both movies
Actually he doesn't any more he got rid of that stipulation when he relaunched NC
Owen you do know that Nostalgia Critic is connected to Disneycember right Doug is reviewing them as him self not as the character. Not that it would matter as Doug has reviewed movies in Disneycember right after they come out
Owen eldridge
Oh, Doug threw that rule out the window ages ago. He's reviewed plenty of movies just months after they came out.
And I know Zenon's parents don't believe her because of her antecedents, but she had many witnesses, evidence, and the villain looks and behaves suspiciously.
could also question why there weren't any Security cameras or guards around the computer that keeps the entire space station from crashing,
or for that matter why the heck Zenon did not USE A CAMERA when she was spying on Lutz, I mean what was her plan, break into the classified room, spy on the guy, then go tell someone with zero evidence (and an admission of breaking an entering) even for a 13 year old that's a bad idea (still enjoyed the movie as a kid, and have a soft spot for it as an adult)
So which movie do you guys think is going to break Doug this year?
Dipper723 I know I'm gonna regret it, but what's Twitches?
lia Manila Lmao. It's Tia and Tamara twins from Sister Sister, and they're witches. It was during the Harry Potter craze
Maybe Descendants? He might really hate that but you never know.
Really, Dipper723? I thought Twitches wasn't that bad. Maybe a 5 or 6 but for a TV movie that's actually pretty good.
high school musical hands down
"disneycember 2017 Disney channel original movies" day 03 brings "zenon: girl of the 2st century" which was out of this world
I don't know why but I find the concept of litterally getting grounded really funny. Shame it comes from such a shallow movie
I LOVED this movie as a little girl! I'm glad to see it still holds up for (really little) little kids.
I loved this one as a kid and I'm glad Doug didn't tear it to shreds
So basically it's a kid learning how to literally be a down-to-Earth person☺
litterally
I completely forgot about this movie for the last 10 years and now I somehow remembered everything.
In my country, Zenon is a name usually belonging to 40yrs old alcoholics
Lol
My cousin and I always got excited whenever the Zenon movies were on. They were fun
Fun fact: Zenon is actually old polish male name.
Older names do over time do get reused by like grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Thank you for reviewing this, I've had it itching at the back of my mind for months now, and this was the perfect scratch to that spot~
2049 must be really nostalgic for the mid to late 90s design
Disneycember is literally the best thing around this time of year
Anybody wish this was a TV show?
Wouldn't that be too much like Phil of the Future?
klimmr3021 no Zenon takes place in 2049, Phil of the Future take place around the 2000s
Yes. I loved this movie when it came out. Mainly because I love scifi. I was hoping it was more of a pilot. Sadly we only got the Zequel.
RiderBattle There was a a third one, Z3, but if I remember correctly it wasn't that good.
Troy McLame This was originally meant to become a series after the first movie but, for reasons I'm unsure of, it ended up with two sequel films instead.
My favorite episode is the entire commercial saga. All of them are just pure genius and I look forward to them every year.
2049? Holy Shit Blade Runner Ripped this Off
Not even close.
Zenon is the true prequel to Blade runner. BL makes so much more since now.
I actually forgot about how much I like this movie. Thank you for doing this one Doug!!
And another one right in the childhood.... damn aging is fickle as a mother.
Damn that was a sick burn xD
I'm loving this Disneycember so far. It's great to look back at all these movies I haven't seen in years but remember loving.
Hell the computers still look like the 90's to early 2000's. I'm not even sure if the phones in this film have camera or the like
I loved this movie as a child. I have this movie on a vhs tape.
Never even heard of this one some how
That's because it's one of the million or so dirt cheap films Disney made to go directly to the Disney Channel, or one of the sub channels, so unless you have the channel, and kids who watch it, you might never hear of these movies. I personally only know of them because of my 3 nieces, and 2 nephews along with my girlfriend's daughter have watched them at some point while at my house either when I had DirectTV, or now with my PSVue service which both carry the Disney Channels.
Amazingly, they made *two* sequels.
Really? This was one of my favorites as a kid
I grew up on all these Disney channel monthly movies!!
Lol Zenon is a polish male name.
Zenek in short.
Mostly old people have it, like my Grandpa Zenek.
MeehLaq these are the kinds of american girl names that will be trending in 2049. Like Wieslaw and Zbigniew. Im waiting for those disney channel heroines.
Joan Doe
ZDZICHU AND JANUSZ ARE THE ROLE MODELS FOR LITTLE GIRLS
Zetus lapetus, I loved this movie! I really liked the girls' outfits on the space station.
"President Chelsea Clinton"
God, please...no...*Shudders*
I love that every vehicle is 90% Volkswagen beetles😆
Holy shit, someone actually remembers Zenon.
This used to be my favorite film series back in the day
Yo this live action Star vs TFOE movie looks hype
This movie will always be my favorite DCOM because it premiered on my 6th birthday. I'll always have some of the fondest memories of this one and can relate to Zenon in different ways. I plan on Disneybounding as Nebula next year for the 20th anniversary.
Wait he skipped the halloweentown sequels
Ryan Meneo nope
Dipper723 but during the live action movie month he did the sequels and remakes right after
Ryan Meneo he said he was doing it by the first Disney original movies in order
he does the movies in the order they were made
Halloween Town II is number 10 on the list
If he is going by release order, according to Wikipedia he skipped Brink! and You Lucky Dog. But he said he was only doing the well praised and popular ones.
As always, wonderful video!
This was my favorite movie as a kid. Also curious to see how much of it will be accurate in 2049 lol
This was one of my favorite Disney channel videos!
Fetus repeatus or something like that
ImmaLittlePip Cetus Lapetus
Tamin Mohammad
Thank you
Though I knew I was wrong so I went for small shock humor
ImmaLittlePip Zetus lapetus.
Fetus Deletus
After his Disneycember video I was worried, because I liked Zenon when I was younger, I'm glad he saw the good in it.
When you realize you will be the age of the adults in Zenon when it supposed to take place...
not even in my case, I was born in the 90s so by 2050 id be nearing 60, the adults in the movie must have been mid 30s - 40 given that they had teenage kids, so they would have been born in the 2010s at the earliest
That’s what me and roommates were just talking about today
Loved this when I was 8 and I still remember seeing the sequels and loving them too
I NEED DOUG TO SAY ZETUS LAPETUS
PLEASE.
ITS IN THE URBAN DICTIONARY
This series idea is GREAT! Some serious nostalgia
Is it bad that the only things I remember about the Zenon movies are the songs at the end of each movie? I still have those songs on my phone.
Vanessa no its fine zenon wasnt that great but I did like the 1st and 2nd i wasnt a fan of z3
I LOVE ZENON!!!!!!!!!! so glad you enjoyed this one doug!!!
This just reminded me how much better Phil of the Future was.
I find it amusing how many times I have watched these disneycember videos, they are like bitesize movies
I hope he does The Color of Friendship. I thought that it was surprisingly mature for a DCOM.
What I really love about these reviews is that even if you didn't particularly enjoy the movie you still say all the things you liked about it and what you enjoyed about it. It is really enjoyable seeing these more optimistic reviews from movies which I thought wouldn't do anything well
Is that the kid from Small Solders? The boyfriend character?
wolfkniteX maybe
Likely. He was everywhere.
Yep. He also played one of Mel Gibson's sons in The Patriot.
wolfkniteX funny he will always be Ephram from Everwood to me. Everyone else thinks Small soldiers
That burn though, oooh that girl has good come backs.
This is the Prequel of Wall-E
I love these mini reviews! Smart, succinct, insightful. I wish there were a few a month throughout the year!
Might be the time period Batman Beyond existed. Keep that in mind Doug.
whoa. imagine if they did a crossover
Another one that I loved as a kid.
Kind of want to watch it again now just for the memories.
Which holiday movie is the WORST.
(Edit: I'll keep adding to the list if it is a REALLY bad holiday special/movie)
1.) The Christmas Tree
2.) The Star Wars Holiday Special
3.) Christmas with the Klanks
4.) 8 Crazy Nights
5.) Rapsittie Street Kids: Believing in Santa
6.) Saving Christmas
7.) We wish you a Turtle Christmas
Alex McMurray I forgot about that one
I guess that depends on what irritates a person individually. For me personally; The Christmas Tree is hilariously bad in a similar vein to The Room, so I could probably watch it and laugh. So that would be lowest on the list for me. The Star Wars Holiday special would be kind of similar; although it helps that George Lucas hates it and wishes it was never made. With 8 Crazy Nights, it's difficult to even get through the Nostalgia Critic review because the film irritates me so much. So, that's my thoughts, 8 Crazy Nights is the worst in my opinion.
AlwaysLookCool 729 and the Christmas tree make the Star Wars Holiday Special look like Empire Strikes Back 0.o...
Is "all of the above" an option?
Rapsittie Street Kids.
"Oh SNAP!"
Behold, a new running gag for the Nostalgia Critic!
I hope he'll review the Lizzie Mcguire movie. Idk if he'll like it at all, but I adore that movie.
I don't think that counts as a DCOM so probably not
BubblegumGirl366 well he did high school musical 3 and that's not a DCOM
No he didn't he did that like 3 years ago. This years disneycember theme is DCOMs
As someone who saw this as a kid in the 90s, I have unbelievable amounts of nostalgia for Zenon...
2049?....There's still time???
This was my favorite movie growing up... and I still have so much Nostalgia for it... I kinda miss it lol
Wait a minute, 2049!? Wow, Zenon is one odd Blade Runner spin-off.
i'm so glad you enjoyed this!! i can't believe you've never seen any DCOMs!!!!
I still have a feeling he’s going to Descendants
Jeez, I haven't seen this movie in forever, but I remember liking it. Judging from those clips, it definitely was more of a thing younger me would have liked. I wonder how many of these DCOMs I wouldn't like if I didn't have any nostalgia tied to it...
This is inaccurate, life in 2049 will be nuclear wastelands.
we already beat you there 21 years ago
No that's not till 2077
I thought there was going to be Ryan Gosling hunting replicants in 2049.
Yay!
2015 = Strap-on shoes
2049 = Space
2099 = New Spider-Man
2121 = Phil of the Future
I remember this movie from my childhood. It was a great movie. I loved it.
Where will YOU be April 18th 2049? PS: Where are the Air Bud reviews?!?!
I love this movie franchise
I hope he reviews Kim Possible So The Drama
Congrats on 1 million subs. You earned it. Keep up the great job
REVIEW EDDIE'S MILLION DOLLAR COOK-OFF!!!
Christian Di Leo Reviews YYYYYYOOOOO!!!!! :D
I always love when Disneycember comes around! Have you thought of possibly reviewing Brink? One of my personal favorites from growing up and I'd love to see you rip it a new one. Lmao!! Keep up the fantastic work!!!
I clicked because of raven symone
I'm an adult who hasn't watched this movie in years, and when I'll watch it again, I know I will absolutely love it.
hi i never saw this movie
Plus 1 Intelligence same
You two had lame childhoods
Demetri 2 Well they could have been too old for the movie when it came out like myself, and I never knew of the movie till one of my nieces watched it while at my house a few years back.
Or too young for it if they were born 2000+
hi, ok
I was thinking about this movie a few weeks ago! My old favorite Disney Channel movie.
