      Mohit Anand yes, agree. I never said Ferrari wasn’t a contender mate. I simply said it wasn’t the best car by far like someone think. Mercedes and Ferrari were so close that year. Until Silverstone Ferrari was ahead, even in constructors if I remember well, then Vettel and Ferrari made mistakes for sure, but from Singapore, like I said before, there wasn’t story anymore. Mercedes simply too fast.

      Possitive things to take away from this race..
      The tyre options are making it more interesting on strategy👍
      A good fight looks to be on between Merc and Ferrari👍 and I do still reckon rebull especially second half of the season👍
      Gasly obviously congrats P4 👍
      McLaren making ground to mid grid👍
      Really don't notice the halo anymore👍
      "Merc have a faster car than Ferrari" haters, are no more👍
      And now the negatives..
      Merc. Ferrari and rebull im sure are a whole lap ahead of the rest of the grid that is bullshit👎
      Max verstappen being a bit track greedy and wiping himself out 👎 can we have a no squeezing drivers rule. 2 abreast is better than 1 in a wall👍
      Rebull still plagued with reliability. Unlucky Daniel👎
      Without the strategy that Merc played today. It would have been another relatively low excitement race.
      The on track battles is still low.
      dirty air, Tyre deg is going to be a race buzzkill on the many of the tighter tracks we have on the season👎
      Ferrari pitman down👎getwell soon👌.

      I think today showed why Lewis and Seb are the two best current F1 drivers (no disrespect to Alonso but it's impossible to compare him while he's in an uncompetitive car). Lewis had that triple overtake almost through the grass and went from -25 seconds to -6 on Vettel and was catching Bottas in a hurry as well. And then as you said with Vettel holding off Bottas. It's going to be a close driver's championship battle this year.

    • @ze_rubenator
      @ze_rubenator 6 років тому +8

      I think Alonso is quite similar to Vettel. Remember when he was with Kimi in Ferrari, he was also faster than Kimi by about as much. Plus Ricciardo was faster than Vettel when they were in Red Bull together, so he's possibly the fastest of all of them. Max is bloody fast too, but way too inconsistent. Ocon I'm willing to bet will be a future WDC, and by the looks of things Gasly has what it takes as well. Either way, without equal cars there's no way to judge them on pure driving skill other than wild speculation.

    • @Adam-zh4hm
      @Adam-zh4hm 6 років тому +6

      Robert VanZant How can you say that the Merc is the fastest by far. Maybe in the last few seasons but in 2018? No way!

    • @porfirij
      @porfirij 6 років тому +8

      @Ze Rubenator: nothing against ricciardo, he's a nice guy and a decent driver, but that 2014 season you're refering to, vettel struggled massively with the car, and also prepared his move to ferrari. no one in their right mind would seriously assume that ricciardo is actually the faster driver, sorry.

    • @mgecko2959
      @mgecko2959 6 років тому +3

      Ze Rubenator I think it is fair to say it is impossible to pick best driver in F1 today. Lewis is fast and relentless but he has weekends off. I value Vettel higher because he almost always shows up. Then on the other hand Vettel has anger issues sometimes and makes dumb mistakes because of that. Alonso is still a master but you have to say Stoffel is either extremely fast or Nando has lost a little bit of his speed. Ricciardo beat Vettel but it was poor and unlucky season for Seb. First win for Daniel in Canada 2014 should go to Seb if team didn't fuck up pit stops and send Vettel into traffic. Daniel is consistent, fast and delivers every time though. Then you have Max which is fastest of them all but has little Maldonado syndrome and is reckless as fuck. That made him finish behind Daniel twice already in full season so maybe Daniel is better in long runs especially since he has simular overtaking ability and is within tenth of Max in terms of pace at most tracks?
      Then you have drivers who never had a chance to drive front running cars like Hulk or Ocon, both consistent and fast but could they handle someone like Hamilton, Vettel or Ricciardo as teammates? I wish we could find out.
      If I had to pick my line up it would be Vettel and Ricciardo. Both consistent, both fast, both born to win which can cause problems within the team but skill wise I think that's the best choice right now on the grid.

  • @JoshuaV8
    @JoshuaV8 6 років тому +247

    This is what we want, pure racing, competitive cars, overtaking and most importantly the unpredictability factor till the last corner. It's been long since we had these kinda racing.
    Now we can't say Mercedes still have an edge. There wasn't a point in a race where one can say mercs had better car or Ferrari had the better car.They both had almost equal performing cars.
    Good and bad day for Ferrari, Vettel winning the race and mechanic suffers a broken leg, the replay was painful to watch, so I guess they didn't show the reply twice and properly.
    Can't wait for next week in China.
    And what a drive from Pierre Gasly, he absolutely deserved to be driver of the day.

      It's a terrible injury, to break your leg like that, but if it's a 'clean' break, you will most likely be okay. With propper medical care, and some good 'rebuild training' after the cast is off, you will probably be able to be 'back to normal', or almost back to normal.

      Its not satisfying knowing he has no chance to keep to that position or to consistently fight for that kind of position. McLaren will still in my opinion finish behind Renault and RBR which will make them worst team running Renault power unit.

      I dont think they will be behind Renault, I think they will finish 4th behind Mercedes, Ferrari and RBR, or probably 5th is Force India manages to bounce back, but its not looking too good right now.

      So I wouldnt Be too glad, in terms of Speed McLaren IS so much freaking slower than Toro Rosso was with updated Honda engine on Gasly's car!

    • @pflaffik
      @pflaffik 6 років тому +25

      The Hondas was never THAT bad, i have long been saying Mclaren was crybabies and blaming Honda instead of improving their cars and team. Plus we dont know what Mclaren did to the engines but we know it wasnt Honda that mapped them, it would be consistent with Mclarens philosophy to rely too much on computer models, theory and an overly complicated programming. You have to be british to believe Mclarens high flying talk, they even want to make people believe their production cars are better and make more sense than Ferraris but in reality they havent even really beaten the God-like drivability of the discontinued Ferrari 458 Italia. Propaganda company.

    Vettel did an amazing job with those tyres man, mad respect. If he drove few more laps, tyres would be gone up to the "Pirelli" marks. And ofcourse I hope that mechanic gets well really soon, that was a nasty accident.

    That poor mechanic at @ 4:41 I can only hope shock numbed the pain. Otherwise that would have been excruciating. We take it for granted the bravery of these men and women trying to push the boundaries of what is possible. Best of luck with your physio and the long road of recovery.

      sebcoe81 The light told Kimmi to go. Now if they still had the lollipop guy that stands in front of the car this wouldn't of happened. But the team requires quicker pit stops but if there is a problem with the light. A driver is going to go thinking the pit crew has done their job.
