The thing that pisses me off is that amazing stories like this are so underrated while things like the mediocrity that is Jeff the Killer are so fricking popular. It feels so unfair

In this story the killer turns out to just be some guy, which is why he works so well as an antagonist. While shitty stories like Jeff the killer are either juvenile or uninspired, the meme potential from the picture is why it spread so much.

This is such a well written story and I nearly cried about Josh. I felt real pain for the parents, and Josh and Veronica, I felt real fear when they searched for boxes and had their raft broken. I felt real anguish for when boxes never returned home. I felt real anxiety for when the stalker sat next to him in the theater. I felt real shock and terror when Veronica said he'd taken her picture and when Josh said he'd been sleep walking. When the narrator first said, "I didn't write this letter" I had no idea what I was in for. I had no clue the significance of the dollar being given back to him. This needs to be made into a movie. It's so good.
I wanna see this as a movie so bad. So underrated!
I'm worried that if it becomes a movie they'll stray to far from the original story and will make it look like garbage
@@ShampooSalesman I find it hard to for this to be told the same way in a movie. I can see it being done but in chronological order. It would just need like subtle hints and clues in order for it to be not all in your face.

i love how real this is, there is no beast, no ghost, no demon, but all of these words can represent the person who had done this, a murderer and a stalker, it's a beautiful yet sad story. It feels like a real creepypasta, the danger only being recognized when it has passed and the damage done. I would appreciate it if I could be pointed to more of these. I have listened to Borrasca (may be spelling that wrong) and it is similar to this but a little different. I think you should listen to that, again I would like to know about more hour to two hour long creepypasta stories like this one

You think the regular uploaders just do it as a hobby? The research, production, recording, editing etc. of videos is a full time job for many people, not only youtubers.

As I grow older I find my self returning to this narration of this story once a year. It’s a truly timeless story with timeless a narration, thank you for that creeps. This tradition of listening every year is only shared by Borassca and Penpal. Both stories that have basis in reality, and could be real in every definition of the word. I was 14 when I first watched this, and even at a young age I knew this story was much more impressive than any other I’ve read/heard in the creepypasta genre. As you grow you learn more from your experiences, and because of those things learned you pick up more from stuff you experience. Here I am, a 18 year old days before graduation, I’m on the jump off point. I feel lost in what I am going to do, despite how much I’ve planned, researched and sought out I still feel lost. Here I am listening through this story reflecting on my life while listening. It’s strange how nostalgia has consumed my year when I swear I’ve never experienced it before turning 18. I’m still noticing things I haven’t before.
I never knew something that could disturb me in my youth could bring me so much comfort. I feel at home listening to this, I feel like both nothing and everything has changed at the same time. I’m looking forward to next year’s listen, might even listen to it again near the end of this one. Thank you to the writer and thank you to Creeps for this experience I will never forget.

This is a fucking fantastically written pasta, the perfect blend of horror, real life integration and the sadness that comes with death that so few creepypastas can convey correctly. 10/10 for the story, 10/10 for the narration, an absolute pleasure to experience.

I listen to rain videos to go to sleep sometimes, and one of them has a background that kept giving me a creeped out feeling but I couldn't place why. Then a few weeks later I come back to listen to this again, and see that the background image for the second chapter ("Balloons") is the same image used in that rain video. No one else is going to give a shit about this comment, but I'm leaving it anyway because I'm so glad I figured that out.

Masterpiece... This story was pure gold. The story, characters, and true meaning were all used amazingly. I loved this tale to no end. Intense, heart warming and both scary and... beautiful.

I always find this story an exemplar among creepypasta. No monsters, no nostalgia bait, no adherence to creepypasta tropes, just kids, characters, and one worst that humanity has to offer to create an epic tragedy with an air of mystery. Love it Creeps.
theres a strange beauty to this story that not a lot of creepypastas have. all of this isn’t caused by a monster, a ghost or a creature, its caused by a single person. a single person that conntected to the author via a single balloon with a letter. this stalker intentionally ruins this persons life for no reason at all, which makes it so terrifying that a single person can just do this. the true horror of the story is how realistic it can be and how this can happen to anyone

If anyone in Hollywood had any common sense. They would aquire the rights to this story and make a film adaptation. It would be "Stand By Me" mixed with "The Lovely Bones" plus a little "Sinister" thrown in for good measure.

This story literally makes me cry. I always wondered about why this was so long but it's the set up. The way he sets up every character the smart little ways he makes you feel so connected to those characters that you feel everything they go through. I didn't even care abut josh at the start and by the end I want to cry thinking about him.

I'm pretty sure it's not. A lot of creepypastas state that they're real when they're not.
I'd like to believe that and I kinda do. But most CPs that do this involve some sort of superhuman being or supernatural happening, whereas this sounds completely plausible and down to earth (unfortunately). That's why it left such a bitter taste in my mouth; I can totally imagine this happened somewhere at some point.

Its implied that the stalker is posing as mrs maggies husband, and later kills her. This is why the people with the hazmat suits come, to take her body away.

@@podomuss This is just a theory, but I believe it’s because she was cut up into pieces. Or maybe dissolved in chemicals or other number of ways the stalker could have tried to dispose/dismember her body. That’s why i believe he says bags.

Man I found this creepy pasta when I was 15 in 2017, it’s now 1 month till 2024 and this has still stuck with me all these years, definitely the best story I’ve ever come across in my life the whole thing is so immersive and feels so real the entire time. An absolute masterpiece to say the least.

Holy fuck that whole ending sequence hits like a truck. I was half-understanding half-losing the plot as it went along, but goddamn the way that it all just came together at the end there hit me like an emotional freight train. What a fantastic story, I can see why this is so popular now, I'll have to listen to this again very soon.

@@noddzillahendry6424 at the beginning of the story the main character kept waking up on the bottom bunk bed, despite going to sleep on the top one, until one night he woke up in the freaking woods. his, uh, "penpal" was behind all this, as we learn later on, but his first thought was that he'd been sleepwalking. the same thing happened to josh years later, so the realisation that the stalker is now targeting him, since mc moved, honestly hit hard when he said that after being so quiet at mc's birthday party. i think that's what they meant!

The reading of this story will be 5 years old by the end of 2019. This story is even older and I still think about it from when I was introduced to it years ago. Truly an amazing and simply mortifying story. I can’t ever explain how much this story means to me and how much I love it.

@@samthomas7042 Now that I've listened to this again I'd say Josh been kidnapped but not immediately killed. As the story said it looked as if he hadn't been dead for too long. When the stalker killed Veronica Josh was still alive somewhere. It was after Veronica's death that the stalker killed Josh and himself.

This one was amazing!!! I had a 3 hour car ride so I thought this would be perfect. Ended up being a 2 hour and 30 minute trip. Sat in my car for 20 minutes just to finish this without interruption. WOW!

@@Antpoison He was trying to slowly ruin the main character's life and others. That's why he also took so long to kidnap and eventually kill Josh. The stalker could have done so when they were five, but waited until both Josh and Veronica were much older. I assume his plan was to kill the main character later in his life.

Boxes survived... He managed to escape the creep, but unfortunatly, never returned to Dathan, instead, he was taken in by a loving family. Boxes decided that it was best for himself and Dathan, that he keeps a distance to protect himself and Dathan from further harm.

This was the first time listening till the end. It is hard to describe the feeling after hearing this, but it's amazingly well written story. Narration spot on, like always.
The main part that really got me here was the fact about how realistic this is, other creepypastas don't scare you as much because they are fictional, while this one is so realistic it makes you think about life, another great reading, thanks for sharing another great creepypasta.
this was definitely one of the more realistic creepypastas, and it defintiely works because of that. But I think there are some supernatural creepypastas that can work REALLY well. If you're looking for some eldritch/god horror stuff I recommend "We should all fear the old horns"

glumandino I always wondered that one too.. Sure, it's a creepy story, but I have read some crazy creepy ones, like 'Ted the Caver,' that hasnt received half as much attention. My guess is that most of these listeners have the attention span of a commercial and cant get into the stories lasting longer than 10-12 minutes.

This was so fucking sad to watch. Jesus Christ. That was so depressing but it was so brilliant. This story was so beautiful yet so goddamn tearjercking. And the narration was perfect.
I’m listening to this for the second time after two years and I just realized that the stalker was infatuated with the mc. I understand so much more about the story just by adding up more of the context clues together. This is by far one of the most interesting creepypasta’s I’ve heard
Kinda frustrating that people keep referring to this as creepypasta's work. Yes it's read by creepy pasta and is awesome to listen to so I'm glad they made an audio version but the original story is written by a reddit user named 1000vultures and really they should be getting their deserved credit for this awesomeness :)
