Wow, those character designs and animations during combat are really something -- so rare to see realistically proportioned characters in a 16-bit RPG.
I really really love that you take the time in your videos to shout out fan translation teams. Those folks are such an underappreciated core part of the hobby.
As an RPG fan in the 90s, discovering emulation from a classmate my senior year was a godsend. Its amazing how many really solid titles didn't make the jump for various reasons that are kind of lost/forgotten because of it. Need to give this one a look.
You, kindly human, are quickly climbing to one of my favorite UA-camrs. I love RPG's and JRPG's, and your quality videos deliver in spades, so thank you
You know that meme where the guy looks at a butterfly and says "Is this ___?". There needs to be a meme with the guy labeled as Xygor Gaming and he points to the butterfly labeled "Any RPG that ever existed" and says "Is this the most overlooked RPG?"
I like to consider myself pretty well versed in old-school jrpg's and I've never heard of this one! Thanks for the vids man. Always top notch! Keep em coming.
This game looks like it could've been on the PS1 for how good the graphics look in the battle sequences. That aside, I'm intrigued. I'll have to play this at some point.
This looks wonderful! As someone who's completed every NA SNES JRPG this is one I'm going to download and play this weekend!! Love this channel for highlighting gems like this.
SunavaBITCH this was a good game!! Can't thank you enough for your reco and the goodwill you generate with this channel and bringing gems like this to the masses. Found an emulator online that plays this, played off/on for about two weeks, just beat it last night. LOVED it. Some fights were hard as hell, as you pointed out (*cough Organa *cough Sindra) but super fun! Added a few more to my playlist, so keep them coming!
I saw the translation release years ago, but forgot about it. This was a great overview, def adding it to the short list of snes RPGs I havent played yet.
I was absolutely sure I already know all SNES/SuperFamicom RPGs. I really dig this this game and have never even heard it mentioned before. Thanks for this!
I played Dual Orb II last year and it was excellent. Had it downloaded for ages, way before 2016. Don't know if anything in particular stood out, it was just a solid game all around. Then again, my memory is not what it once was so I might just be forgetting something. Wish the first Dual Orb had a translation. I'd like to play that one too.
Wow, Dual Orb II! I played through it a while ago. I remember bosses having way to many HP... I wanted to try it again at some point to see if I appreciate it better nowadays.
There was definitely a patch prior to 2016. I played this back in like 2008-2010. I remember I maxed the wood sword with aleth, then bought the next sword and was disappointed how much weaker it was. So I leveled up that sword. I was so over leveled from the grinding for money, that I mowed through a good portion of the game lol.
There was. I don`t recall exactly when, but it was closer to early 2000 than 2016. I played it when I lived in my parents house. 2016, i was married and in my own house. If you look at the read me with the translation, the first version was released in 2002. I can only speculate why Romhacking uses 1.7, the latest version, as the release date. A mistake? I am pretty sure that patch has been there.
@@Harie0 I'm not sure of the details of the patch. All I know is I either was still living at home in the late 2007 early 2008 or I had moved out from 2009 to early 2012. I know it was before late 2012. I had moved to a new state by that point and I did not play it after that point. It's all been so long ago now 🤣
@@b.k.2411 Yeah, I was also certain I played it a while ago. I would say around the same time I discovered Live a Live... So, early 2010s for me, I would say.
Finished it some years ago. It has and interesting story, nice visuals and some tough boss fights. The weapons upgrade system is cool but could use some polish. It's a good game, a 7/10 for me.
I didn’t know they had a English patch. Thanks for letting us know! Because I saw this game and wanted to play but I could only find the Japanese version at the time. Def adding to my list
A guy s playing all the SNES RPGs on his blog that were never translated and he totally trashed Dual Orb 1. The mechanics sound like a mess and chore to play though. I'd just stick with Dual Orb 2 which he found more enjoyable overall.
I knew about this one, however your video has shown the most I have seen of the game. Looks great and will keep an eye out for a good repro version of it, but what about part one? I never knew that was also on the SNES.
Never even heard of this game! Well, what I find striking about it at a glance are the in-battle character sprites. Reminds me of BOF somewhat with the nice-looking animations. Well maybe I can track it down somehow. The enemy designs are interesting and unique too!
What are these games you're showing during the intro sequence? I know SD3, FF5 and Star Ocean, but what are the ones at 0:07 (looks like a SaGa?) and 0:26?
Yeah the battles look really nice with idle animations and such on every character. Shows there's plenty of scope for visually impressive stuff like this on SNES.
I've been meaning to play this one for a long long time. But I'd really like to start with the first one....which as far as i know isn't translated yet
that overworld flying bird part looked like a direct rip of FF 6. the mini map looked almost exactly the same as flying the airship, and the angle of the view is the same style too. (not complaining. love ff6, so all for it)
I never played it, but I swear that combat looks familiar, maybe it was something I saw at a convention later on, I can't put my finger on it. It looks dope as hell though, Imma give it a shot later
Just started playing this since I was kinda bored with the typical jrpg pickings on the SNES. Decided to play it first before seeing reviews of it. Glad I made the plunge!

I played Japan version ,a impressive game with beautiful vision、outstanding animation in battle system、good story and awesome music ,but I must complain the probability of enemy encount, it’s too often.
Hay cyborg gaming can you tell me what name of the game called on your dual orb 2 video 25 minutes the one that show a bunch of characters fighting that looks like a werewolf
It's strange, but I played the game when I was young and had a fan translation in my native language (Polish). I'm not sure who made that translation but it had to be from Japanese.
It looks interesting but do they ever explain how the dragon's attack apparently inflicted worldwide damage? It efefcting an entire hemisphere is theoritically possibly but stretching credibilty. It devastating the entire planet even more so.

I think I may enjoy it slightly more than Secret of Mana… played it when I was in 8th grade and even enjoyed the stupid trading section. I did that sucka without a guide💪
I don't know that you can call a game "Overlooked" if it only existed in Japan. "Overlooked" indicates that it could have been "looked" at, and someone chose to "over" "look" it. Just my 2 cents. Maybe "hidden gem" would have been a better term, since it was "hidden" from the world.

Where can you buy this in English?
I remember the shotgun being the most satisfying weapon.
The grinding. Also that it took away an interesting early game party member right before it set you off to grind
Wow, those character designs and animations during combat are really something -- so rare to see realistically proportioned characters in a 16-bit RPG.
7th Saga tho

I actually just played FF5 for the first time with the pixel remaster. It's now my favorite 2d FF. It was just so much fun
I actually beat this game a few years back. I loved the music and the dungeons. It’s been quite some time since I played it so I forgot the story.
Thanks for another gift mate, addingin another one into the count to play in the future :).
Any time!
I have never heard of this! Thanks for covering it!
looks really good! as a pixel artist, i especially love the monster sprites!
They're nice for SNES, aren't they?
I loved this game instantly. Definitely one of the best, yet criminally underrated RPGs on the system. Glad you made the video this gem deserves.
Couldn't agree more!
This game reminds me a lot of Beyond the Beyond on PSX. Charming! Thanks for the video.

Treasure of Rudras and treasure hunter G, both from squaresoft

Exactly, it's too bad more people don't know about this one!
I really love the battle graphics in this! This game looks awesome. Sucks we never got it
Certain elements remind me of both the Lufia and Wilds Arms series. And that's always a good thing.

Thx!! Just added to the rpg collection
Hopefully someone will one day translate the first Dual orb, if for no other reason than completion sake.

No it isn't, which is a real shame! Hopefully we still get that one someday. I'd love to play it too.

Basically LUFIA 2 nice find Xygor!
Bro you put out the best videos thanks man.
Looks great. Got to wish more people like these would follow theirs skills into the industry.
The fact that the battle sprites look that good for a SNES game, really makes me wonder WHY DIDN'T WE GET A LOCALIZATION!!?
I love how enemies include monster trucks and laptops. Pretty freaky.
Rudra is also a excellent RPG
that overworld flying bird part looked like a direct rip of FF 6. the mini map looked almost exactly the same as flying the airship, and the angle of the view is the same style too. (not complaining. love ff6, so all for it)

@@Xygor yeap, that was very nice classical jrpg with good story.
Other SNES games where the enemy falls down and dies are the TMNT games. Their fairly known for that animation.
But not closed-battle RPG's like this one. The fall down animation is pretty unique among closed-battle RPG's.
I would play it looks nice.
