As far as quitting smoking, what helped me was counseling. I didn't realize that there was like, an emotional spark that would happen before my craving came on. It was the only thing that helped as I had cut down to just like a few cigarettes on the weekends. I went to counseling for a different issue but a positive side effect was that I was able to talk those cravings down. I'm not sure if you have tried that, I've been smoke free for over 2 years now.
