- I've made it my mission over the years, to collect all the games on the game boy advance, that could be considered horror games. Recently, I finally felt as though my horror collection was complete. Hope you all enjoy, as horror on the game boy advance is almost never talked about.
For a kids movie, Monster House it is pretty decent. It's a little groteque and dark at times too. I recommend the movie if you ever find yourself in the mood for a animated movie.
Also Silent Hill GBA has a english fan translation
Monster House was surprisingly decent, and you’re spot on. Some of the comments by the old man were pretty extreme for a kids movie, lol!
I was convinced RE2 was gonna be a troll or a hack. Very impressive to see and it’s always nice to learn new things.

I would include The Scorpion King in this list, it had some beautiful graphics and horror atmosphere in some cases.

Probably one of my favorite horror games on the GBA is Gegege no Kitaro. Based on the long-running manga and anime series, I'd compare it most to Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, with each level being a mini Metroidvania (helping in that comparison is the fact that it was published by Konami). There's currently no English patch for it, but someone on GameFAQ's translated everything from menus to cutscene dialogue, so language barrier shouldn't be an issue.
Cool, I'll check it out. After making this video, I soon realized there were quite a few more horror games I missed. I'll have to do a part 2 some day.
Some great games there! My copy of Van Helsing is actually a bootleg, and the funniest thing about it is that the back of the box shows images of other games, and inside of the manual has the pages from a Sonic booklet! I have no idea what they were thinking!
I love the GBA, I wish I was gaming when it came out but I had just started highschool and video games got left behind but now as an adult I get to rediscover so many awesome games! Thanks for the video , its perfect for October

It’s not an “official” game but Deadeus is worth looking into. Also Silent Hill has fan translation copies floating around.

Metroid Fusion is a really great game, one of the best gba game in my opinion, and it fit pretty well in the horror genre ( may be you mentioned it and I missed it ?) Anyway, great video

if you have Gameboy or Gameboy Color, you should check Resident Evil 1 and Alone In The Dark..
They made a RE1 version that is like 99% complete, prerendered backgrounds, 3D controls, working menu and map, some glitch here and there but totally worth playing.

I haven't beaten either of them, but I do have both in my collection, and your right, they're both absolutely mind blowing. I'm not a fan of the combat in Alone In The Dark, but it's still impressive. The unfinished Resident Evil is especially impressive, it's crazy it was that far into development, and wasn't released officially.

i have to agree with you on AITD combat system.. they should have kept the same prerendered backgrounds and make enemies a bit more interesting.
The time bar is segmented with call of duty games.
I like that Silent Hill was the only legitimate horror game for the GBA.

There's English translation rom hacks on line that you can buy or download, but an authentic copy is only in Japanese.
Wasn't there a sequel to Altered Beast exclusive to GBA ??? you become wolfman and other monsters to fight the undead so i think that qualifies for Horror Games , , ,

COTM beats the other gba castlevania games
probably that game about kids in a alive ghost house could be interesting, but look at these games! dialoges, cut-scenes, tons of text and cheapest lazyest sprites made of poor 3d models! 50% of time you have to wait something. GameBoy games were really cool, they had nothing to show, they had to be just a good games, but that new wave of graphical capabilities vanished game design, they became interactive books
