It's a shame that you had to stop making these tutorial videos. This is SO clearly explained. I now understand the mechanism that makes this technique work. Thanks!
I am speechless. I just saw your comment after MoeU33 arm rig tutorials and replied you with an appeal to kindly let us know when you released your version of the topic. Voila! I thought i will not do you justice if i can imagine you spending 2 months without releasing anything in that respect. I was right! here we are with your life changing tutorial. I cant thank you enough.
Your videos are, as usual, the easiest to follow which is great BUT they are so informative!! In the past few years I have learned 90% of Moho via a Subscribe to your Channel! This Pin Bone/TGT Bone technique is a @$#%! game-changer!! Please keep them coming!!
I'll have to re-rig all my main characters. This is awesome. Will start implementing this maybe even mid production in ep. 3 of Phungus & Mowld, it's just such a game changer!
Hi Poptoogi, I wanted to thank you for this incredibly detailed tutorial. It’s one of the best I’ve come across, and it addresses exactly what I needed-though I never quite knew how to explain it myself. Even though it was released two years ago, it's new to me, and I really appreciate the effort you put into it. You mentioned a follow-up video that would cover legs. Are you still planning to create that? If so, I’m looking forward to it! Thanks again for your great work, and have a blessed day.
This is a fantastic tutorial, it has transformed the way I rig my musician characters, especially the drummers, whose arms need to be at a lot of different angles.
So amazing!!! I'm used to toomboom but I was thinking about doing some testing with Moho and this is the kind of thing I was after and still haven't found any way to do it in a good way. Thank you so much for sharing this technique!
Been using Toon Boom also and it is great in what it does (frame by frame). I love Moho for the ease of use lol Harmony is so "professional" aka difficult learning curve
Really interesting. I'm just coming from after effects to Moho. Been using after effects for 8 years and have alot of characters rigged. But I decided to try Moho because after effects take a lot of memory and lags a lot. And now i noticed there is more you can do with Moho interms of bones.
I am becoming to appreciate what can be done with pin bones. I just strung seven of them together, made them independent, and then added bones with dynamics to those pin bones, then I bound hair groups to the attached bones, then did the same for the other side of the head. Now my character has hanging hair that drops on the side her head is dropping and rises on the opposite side. I also limited the rotation of the higher pin bones, which keeps the hair from falling across the face, as if it had depth, but left the bottom ones unrestricted, which gives a great hair bounce and the effect of length.
This is an amazing technique. Thank you for the tutorial! Have you happened to figure out a way to foreshorten the sleeve as the pin bones are moved closer together?
I hope you will give me more instructions on how to flexibly move my hand forward or back while animating, for example, when animating a character's dance, thank you.
I really like your way of making bones. but I'm still wondering about using this method for the legs, because I can't attach a target to it. If you know, can you share?
great tutorial, is there anyway without pulling some MoeU33 magic and genius to add an IK for the legs? i can make with this work for smaller rigs where planting the feet can be faked but im having trouble on longer rigs
hello sir i changed the shape of one layer on animation time line frame 1 but i want the same shape on frame zero as default shape to use it as separate layer is there any solution bcz going back to frame zero and making same shape wasting more time
I got the answer, if the pin bone already parent to the shoulder bone, we cannot use the manipulate bones (z) again to move it, the tool that can move it is transform bone but click it at the pin bone, thats it dude
And you can make a rig with on /off on parenting the arm pin bones parented to the rotation bone in order to simulate IK/FK siwtch controller..by using smart bones, with the legs too I guess. I will test if what I have in mind will work.
I still don't get how to use pin bones does I ha e to be patented a certain way besides targeting, ect. My bones have a target but. Still Don't stay put. Is there a step by step process?
Would Moho take a suggestion from you? I noticed that there was a point where you wanted to align two different layers, but when you do, you also have to first align their grids. If there were a screen overlay that could be brought up with a button, that put concentric circles and squares, and a center target, that does not move with ANY layer. It would make things much easier, especially when changing a layer scale, changes the layer grid scale also.
That's a great idea. The MOHO community is really good at taking suggestions and it's now owned by the original creator of the program and another super passionate artist and animator so I'm sure they would take in the advice. I'll have to check and see but someone might have made a script for that as well. If I find anything out I'll post it on a video. (Gotta get back into the groove though. Been soooooo long since I've posted anything!) :)
@@PoptoogiHi I followed your guide but I don't know why after I rigged, when I chose the manipulate bone tool, didn't do anything yet but all the bones would move a little bit together and the arms look a little bit deformed. I don't know why. Please help me 🙏
@Poptoogi So I've been trying this with one of my characters and it's awesome, but there seems to be no way to lock the hands in place for cases where they e.g. lean both palms on a desk, or grab on to something. If you reparent the wrist pin bones in the timeline they seem to change angle and twist everything up in a weird way. If you simply don't barent the wrist bone to the arm rotation bone, wrists will always stay in place, but then you can't rotate the whole arm only the upper part, and lose the nice circular motion capability. Have you found a solution to that problem?
You should be able to do the same thing with regular bones instead of pin bones if you have an older version of MOHO/Anime Studio Fabio. I'll se if I can put up an example for people to look at and use on my gumroad store when I get a chance!
@@Poptoogi yes thank you,i will check it up, and the use of grid for arms and leg joints is really awesome already saw it in your older videos ,and they should put a lock in the grid in a moho update, so when we resize objects not resize the grid too, keep the amazing work
It's been one year already since you've heard from you POP, make a sign please. According to me this is this best method to rig a character but the only problem with it, how to get the feet planted in the ground?
Finally he remembered that he has a channel

This is a phenomenal breakthrough. The limbs have been a pain for turns and just perspective. Now I can do fore shortening. Thanks bruv.

@Poptoogi, if you Hide Controlled Bones, you do not have to bother selecting them. @23:20

Looks good, how would you also bend the arms with this technique. Could you use this on bone technique on a path which could also bend?
Awesome technique! Thanks so much!

thanks for the lesson!, you can make a video where, when the bone moved, the face looked at the bone?
This was great! Thanks for making this video.
this is an awesome tutorial, thanks heaps for this @Poptoogi your channel has been great for my learning, appreciated
big fan. can we edit pervious work
Thank you, it's amazing ! But for the leg rigging, with thi technic, how to make an inverse ik when moving all body
I really like your way of making bones. but I'm still wondering about using this method for the legs, because I can't attach a target to it. If you know, can you share?
please write how you can increase the size of the bones?, because they are very small
How do you maintain limb proportion when you’re not foreshortening?
