Although I attended Catholic School from K to 10th grade, I never heard this in Mass. We only learned of the Prayer in Religion class. It was presented as obsolete (like an ancient historic touchstone) . We need this to be reintroduced as a living part of our faith. I agree with the person who noted we should memorize this deeply important avocation and add it to our personal prayers until it is one day reintroduced to the Mass. We knelt right beside the priest and the one who was being exorcised. The things that I have seen will make your hair stand on end. The reason the Catholic Church is not video taping is because it is a prayerful event. It’s NOT a Hollywood production. Somebody did tape one of St. Padre Pio’s exorcisms and put it on Utube. The supposed exorcists ( The Priests) do not video tape exorcisms because they are prayerful events. Not Hollywood productions. Yet somebody taped St. Padre Pio’s exorcisms and put it on Utube quite recently, did you not see it? I personally have assisted priests during exorcisms. A few of us who were chosen by our confessor the priest in this case deemed us worthy and strong to combat the evil one. And so we had to be on our knees praying the ROSARY while the exorcism was going on. What we saw would make your hair stand on end. You will not sleep after that IF your faith in Jesus and Mother Mary are not strong. Sometimes the demons come after us to scare us and prevent us from assisting the priests. Only the stupid cowardly demons chose the wrong handful, because we were always in the state of grace. Daily mass and HOLY COMMUNION the daily ROSARY reading of scripture and meditating on the word of God ,fasting and penance. Yes we sacrificed a tremendous amount of our fun time as teenagers for theses poor souls who were possessed. We were SOOOOO concerned about their spiritual , physical and mental wellbeing that going through all those sacrifices were pure joy to us. When one was delivered we rejoiced and spent days and hours in praise and thanksgiving before the Blessed Sacrament. Don’t be arrogant and nasty brother you could be one possessed next. These priests fast 40 days and live lives of hermits. That is why that there are very few of them who can perform exorcisms. They too are harassed by demons who try to stop them from doing what they do. These go through terrible illnesses, Mockery by people like you. Yet they sacrifice their lives for these people. Exorcisms are NOT Hollywood productions. Take from one who has seen it all. They are prayerful events. I sincerely hope and pray that you will not be one possessed. @papito basukito St. Padre Pio’s exorcism was on Utube not very long ago. Find it. I am telling you again. Exorcisms are NOT Hollywood productions, they are PRAYERFUL events. They, the priests will not advertise them. The Bishop of the diocese will not allow it. But if you can find out if and where one is taking place I am sure the priest will not mind you video taping one. Don’t be sure of that though. Let me tell of an incident that happened. In my time. There were no video taping. A professional photographer once took pictures of an exocism. When he developed the film there was nothing. They were blank. He photographed twice on other exorcisms the same thing happened. This was a professional photographer. It was impossible for his film to come out blank. He bought a new camera one more expensive than the one he had put new film in it and photographed. Since it was pretty late at night, tired after witnessing everything that went on at the exorcism he kept the camera by his bedside table and slept. He was the only one in the apartment. The film was taken out and destroyed and so was the expensive camera. My guess is that this poor guy like most arrogant , conceited individuals wanted to disprove and mock at the exorcism and was NOT in the state of grace. ( True believer of Christ the Lord). Satan does things in hidden and subtle ways. But people have video taped exorcisms. You can also. But the priests themselves will NOT video tape and publish them. Because they are NOT doing these exorcisms to show their power. It is NOT they who are driving out these demons. They are doing it through Jesus and HIS power. They have taken very seriously vows of poverty, chastity obedience and humility. Although ALL the priests and relegious have to take these vows only a handful of them take them seriously. They commit themselves to these vows with all their hearts , souls and minds. That is why our beautiful Catholic faith is in shambles because there aren’t many holy priests these days. These exorcists the priests are truly God’s chosen ones. What THEY go through for the sake of humanity is spell bounding. They ARE the true sons of God. Don’t get me wrong. There are others who are NOT exorcists who are equally holy and pure. Who dedicate their lives to their parishes. We have plenty of them in our diocese of Arlington Virginia. Headed by an equally wonderful bishop. Find where an exorcism is taking place and video tape it . That confused me as well, but I think the "gist" is the violent video games because they just fantasy violence and make it desirable to the player by viewing it. A lot of video games from the East and West both deal with magic and false gods. I don't know the exact teaching of that, but it would make sense that exposing yourself to stuff like that (that is true idolatry and the like) is wrong or influences some danger.
As teenagers, my friend and I played with an Ouija board. It was definitely a doorway to somewhere dangerous. It really negatively impacted my friend and what I felt was quite malevolent. Definitely not a “fun” game.

People can be exorcised ,demons expelled even before knowing they were possesed .they are delivered and say i felt something come out whitout knowing what came out. I ve seen it many times. I think it has more to do with violating UA-cam's terms of service. Mentioning names of companies or products and sometimes even specific people can open up to slander lawsuits which would automatically include UA-cam as the service that conveyed the message. UA-cam as deep pockets, so they have protections in place. I caught that edit as well. At 30:26, Father Gary was just starting to talk about violent video games, and a Japanese gaming company, but the video suddenly "jumped" and skipped over that part completely. However, I am not sure about one little issue: As answer to the first question in the Q&A, reverent father says at 56:53 something like "when it appears to be a human spirit, it is usually because the person has not been able to 'move on' for a reason". Also, 58:12: "so in the case of a disembodied spirit, ... they haven't gone for judgement". 1:03:41: "the soul is stuck; there is something that is preventing the person being able to go to the other side." But isn't that against the teaching of the Church regarding Particular Judgement? The Catechism says: CCC 1022: "Each man receives his eternal retribution in his immortal soul at the very moment of his death, in a particular judgment that refers his life to Christ: either entrance into the blessedness of heaven-through a purification or immediately,-- or immediate and everlasting damnation. At the evening of life, we shall be judged on our love." I guess it is impossible for a soul to stay back, even if it wants to, as it has to go through Particular Judgement immediately. Could this actually be a demon posing as the human? Also, can the devil have control over the spirit and soul, until the soul is damned in hell? I guess he can control only corporeal faculties, not spiritual faculties.
It's not against that teaching, because the soul is in Purgatory (already gone through the immediate judgment) but is being allowed by God in his mercy to ask for help.

Jesus was talking about legalist, hard hearted jews when he said that. His disciples were all jews and so was he. The early Christians were largely converted jews. Those scriptures now apply to all of us, spiritual Israel.

Father Gary you are a great guy. One reason I converted had to deal with exorcism. Eventually I learned more about Roman Catholicism, therefore I converted.

This Prayer should be returned to every Mass, I say this as a devoted Catholic. Although I attended Catholic School from K to 10th grade, I never heard this in Mass. We only learned of the Prayer in Religion class. It was presented as obsolete (like an ancient historic touchstone)

We need this to be reintroduced as a living part of our faith. I agree with the person who noted we should memorize this deeply important avocation and add it to our personal prayers until it is one day reintroduced to the Mass.

We knelt right beside the priest and the one who was being exorcised. The things that I have seen will make your hair stand on end. The reason the Catholic Church is not video taping is because it is a prayerful event. It’s NOT a Hollywood production. Somebody did tape one of St. Padre Pio’s exorcisms and put it on Utube. The supposed exorcists ( The Priests) do not video tape exorcisms because they are prayerful events. Not Hollywood productions. Yet somebody taped St. Padre Pio’s exorcisms and put it on Utube quite recently, did you not see it? I personally have assisted priests during exorcisms. A few of us who were chosen by our confessor the priest in this case deemed us worthy and strong to combat the evil one. And so we had to be on our knees praying the ROSARY while the exorcism was going on. What we saw would make your hair stand on end. You will not sleep after that IF your faith in Jesus and Mother Mary are not strong. Sometimes the demons come after us to scare us and prevent us from assisting the priests. Only the stupid cowardly demons chose the wrong handful, because we were always in the state of grace. Daily mass and HOLY COMMUNION the daily ROSARY reading of scripture and meditating on the word of God ,fasting and penance. Yes we sacrificed a tremendous amount of our fun time as teenagers for theses poor souls who were possessed. We were SOOOOO concerned about their spiritual , physical and mental wellbeing that going through all those sacrifices were pure joy to us. When one was delivered we rejoiced and spent days and hours in praise and thanksgiving before the Blessed Sacrament. Don’t be arrogant and nasty brother you could be one possessed next. These priests fast 40 days and live lives of hermits. That is why that there are very few of them who can perform exorcisms. They too are harassed by demons who try to stop them from doing what they do. These go through terrible illnesses,
Mockery by people like you. Yet they sacrifice their lives for these people. Exorcisms are NOT Hollywood productions. Take from one who has seen it all. They are prayerful events. @papito basukito St. Padre Pio’s exorcism was on Utube not very long ago. Find it. I am telling you again. Exorcisms are NOT Hollywood productions, they are PRAYERFUL events. They, the priests will not advertise them. The Bishop of the diocese will not allow it. But if you can find out if and where one is taking place I am sure the priest will not mind you video taping one. Don’t be sure of that though. Let me tell of an incident that happened. In my time. There were no video taping. A professional photographer once took pictures of an exocism. When he developed the film there was nothing. They were blank. He photographed twice on other exorcisms the same thing happened. This was a professional photographer. It was impossible for his film to come out blank. He bought a new camera one more expensive than the one he had put new film in it and photographed. Since it was pretty late at night, tired after witnessing everything that went on at the exorcism he kept the camera by his bedside table and slept. He was the only one in the apartment. The film was taken out and destroyed and so was the expensive camera. My guess is that this poor guy like most arrogant , conceited individuals wanted to disprove and mock at the exorcism and was NOT in the state of grace. ( True believer of Christ the Lord). Satan does things in hidden and subtle ways. But people have video taped exorcisms. You can also. But the priests themselves will NOT video tape and publish them. Because they are NOT doing these exorcisms to show their power. It is NOT they who are driving out these demons. They are doing it through Jesus and HIS power. They have taken very seriously vows of poverty, chastity obedience and humility. Although ALL the priests and relegious have to take these vows only a handful of them take them seriously. They commit themselves to these vows with all their hearts , souls and minds. That is why our beautiful Catholic faith is in shambles because there aren’t many holy priests these days. These exorcists the priests are truly God’s chosen ones. What THEY go through for the sake of humanity is spell bounding. They ARE the true sons of God. Don’t get me wrong. There are others who are NOT exorcists who are equally holy and pure. Who dedicate their lives to their parishes. We have plenty of them in our diocese of Arlington Virginia. Headed by an equally wonderful bishop. Find where an exorcism is taking place and video tape it . Family abuse opens the door to possession . If we have been abused as children I believe we are cursed to some degree but we must be aware of it and deal with it when we become an adult.
Just like in that movie, "The Rite". If the child was cursed by a parent. A doorway gave the demon to possess the woman.
Maybe not cursed, but the physical and emotinal scars would certainly be fertile ground for the evil one's manipulation and lies.
Very few people get possessed but demons can latch on and that's oppression

I had friends that played with the ouija board when I was little and always invited me. I was always utterly terrified of it and never went, thank god 😂
I never played with the Ouija board or Bloody Mary games either. I could never understand how Christians could play these games.
That confused me as well, but I think the "gist" is the violent video games because they just fantasy violence and make it desirable to the player by viewing it. A lot of video games from the East and West both deal with magic and false gods. I don't know the exact teaching of that, but it would make sense that exposing yourself to stuff like that (that is true idolatry and the like) is wrong or influences some danger.
As teenagers, my friend and I played with an Ouija board. It was definitely a doorway to somewhere dangerous. It really negatively impacted my friend and what I felt was quite malevolent. Definitely not a “fun” game.
I'm 60 and played with the ouija board in my grade school sleepovers. To this day that thing moved by itself. Also did "levitation" not sure if anyone from that era knows what that was...freaky wierd

People can be exorcised ,demons expelled even before knowing they were possesed .they are delivered and say i felt something come out whitout knowing what came out. I ve seen it many times. Most priest only work after entrevue,psy evaluation are done,
No man is 100% correct. You will be mislead if you do not question everything.

How do you know if the person who is answering is not the demon speaking thru the possesed?
Im sure you are aware ofl the many tricks... the devil uses once that demon or devil has faculty over that body... Levitation..rolling back of the eyes..great strength...knowlege of the unknown..etc..and yes.. Even at times...thw devil will flip the script..meaning not all his tricks are ugly. That you can see him for what he really is...ugly..mean..etc....meaning pea soup coming out of the mouth etc.. Sometimes...the demon or devil works without you even knowing it..king of like a burglar prefers to rob you...knowing that you dont know the burglar is there......obviously..to better rob you..kind of like thw devil...in fact..its his greatest trick..to convince man, he didnt exist.. So..that being said... When the question is asked liked father says..."do you want to be helped?".......and then, that reply is..answered in the persons own natural voice...saying...."No, im okay.".......well...respectfully...the priest has to respect that decision...and moves on.. Right? That's what was discussed in the video....
So..lets look at the new situation shall we..... No exorcism will be performed...now.. The demon who is possesing that person..is now..... more able to complete and finish task without intervention... Thats what he wanted....get the picture?? Do you see the FLAW now on having to ask the afflicted?

i have read that even Hindu priests try to control possession by mantras, if that does not work they will ask to see a christian and if that does not work they ask to see the catholic. my wife's bramin hindu neighbor used to ask from catholic neighbor the Holy Water to sprinkle over possessed house or person. even satanists are known to steal catholic Eucharist. there is real spiritual power in Catholic Church but the catholics in general are luke warm namesake catholics nowadays. the more one believes in the power of the Catholic Holy Eucharist; the more power a person will receive in different ways.

There has been tamperred with this video. At 30: 28 Something is gone. He talks about a Japanese videogame, and suddenly he doesn't say what the videogame is and although you see that he will say what that game is, suddenly it jumps to him talking about something totally different : talking about the golden calf (Old Testament-story in the journey where the Israelites go to the promised land and the 10 commandments were given at the mountain).
In any case : There has been something CUT OFF there in the text or the sermon about exorcism. I want to ask to the uploader what has been omitted ? And why ? Thanks if you do answer.

I think it has more to do with violating UA-cam's terms of service. Mentioning names of companies or products and sometimes even specific people can open up to slander lawsuits which would automatically include UA-cam as the service that conveyed the message. UA-cam as deep pockets, so they have protections in place. I caught that edit as well. If they would have left that name in, especially with the negative connotation, this wonderful video would have been taken down by UA-cam. Thanks and God Bless.

However, I am not sure about one little issue:
As answer to the first question in the Q&A, reverent father says at 56:53 something like "when it appears to be a human spirit, it is usually because the person has not been able to 'move on' for a reason".
Also, 58:12: "so in the case of a disembodied spirit, ... they haven't gone for judgement".
1:03:41: "the soul is stuck; there is something that is preventing the person being able to go to the other side."
But isn't that against the teaching of the Church regarding Particular Judgement?
The Catechism says:
CCC 1022: "Each man receives his eternal retribution in his immortal soul at the very moment of his death, in a particular judgment that refers his life to Christ: either entrance into the blessedness of heaven-through a purification or immediately,-- or immediate and everlasting damnation.
At the evening of life, we shall be judged on our love."
I guess it is impossible for a soul to stay back, even if it wants to, as it has to go through Particular Judgement immediately.
Could this actually be a demon posing as the human?
Also, can the devil have control over the spirit and soul, until the soul is damned in hell? I guess he can control only corporeal faculties, not spiritual faculties.
It's not against that teaching, because the soul is in Purgatory (already gone through the immediate judgment) but is being allowed by God in his mercy to ask for help.

Jesus was talking about legalist, hard hearted jews when he said that. His disciples were all jews and so was he. The early Christians were largely converted jews. Those scriptures now apply to all of us, spiritual Israel.
