  • A Reason for Hope Podcast: An Exorcist Tells of the Power of Relics with guest Father Carlos Martins:
In this episode we hear from Fr. Carlos Martins, world-renown exorcist and director of Treasures of the Church, a ministry of evangelization offering people an experience of the living God through an encounter with the relics of his saints in the form of an exposition. We discuss his ministry as an exorcist, including why people experience demonic influence and why such occurrences are on the rise today. We also discuss the place of relics in the Church and the theology of relics, rooted in Scripture and Tradition.

My 18month old sister, fell waist deep in fire ants, went into anaphylactic shock, slipped into a 6 week coma. She was completely unresponsive when Specialists said she would either die or be vegetative for life. Our Msgr came to bless her with The True Cross (Splinter of Jesus’ Cross encased). He said some prayers, placed The Cross on her chest, as soon as The Cross touched her skin, she immediately shot straight up, turned on her side and laid down. She woke up an hour later. She’s had a few issues, but lives a normal life, college, children, grandchildren, etc. My dad converted to Catholic afterwards as he knew The Catholic Church is the only one established by our God and Savior, Jesus Christ and he wanted to be a part of Gods Kingdom. My parents thought they were being punished for whatever, but really, God allowed it to happen so my dad would witness this miracle and eventually convert to Catholic. He was pretty stubborn lol.

If a believer layed hand upon her and asked Jesus to heal her she would have been healed. Mark 16: 17-18. Jesus is the only healer.

God gave His power and authority to heal, cast out demons, etc to His apostles and their direct successors, Catholic Priests. God acts and exhorts through His Priests. 2 Cor 5:18-20, Mt10:1-7, Lk 9:1-2, Mk 3:14-19

I have a first class relic of St. Teresa of Avila - with papers. I have it over a picture of my son who died by suicide. When I went to his grave to visit - I knelt in front of his tombstone and blessed it with holy water. I then just stayed there for awhile and I noticed that a great quiet had descended upon me. I had no thoughts but I could hear the birds singing and it was deeply peaceful but more than that it was a “prayer of quiet” that St. Teresa talked of often and for which I prayed.

Attended Father Martins exhibition of relics in 2019 small town nebraska, after praying to about 8 or 9 separate saints while holding their actual relics, I was cured from a sinful habit I had lived with for 48 yrs. I will never return to that sin and thank God daily for delivering me with the help of his holy saints!

I tried for years to leave the Lady and repented a Number of Times w/no cure until you showed up with the Treasures of the Church. I got down on my knees w/ reverence of the 1 True Cross of JESUS CHRIST and asked the LORD to help me. Instant Miracle Healing. Me and the Lady Split up after that and she has not called me since then. That was 4 years ago. Thanks be to GOD. GOD Bless you Fr. Carlos and the Blessed work you do for the LORD. @@basil5641 Possible OP's uncle was a missionary, military chaplain or worked as a visiting priest. In that case he would have had permission to travel with an altar stone to be used when celebrating Mass in remote locations. I would expect it would have been returned to this priest's superiors when he passed away. But perhaps it was offered and the family was given permission to keep it; we simply don't know.
      From Catholic Answers:
      ALTAR-STONE
A solid piece of natural stone, consecrated by a bishop, large enough to hold the Sacred Host and chalice. It is inserted into or placed on the surface of a structure which answers the purpose of an altar, when the whole altar is not consecrated. Sometimes the whole table (mensa) takes the place of the smaller altarstone. It is called a portable altar.

I have a relic of Padre Pio - a piece of cloth that was touched to his heart that I always have with me. When I was in line for confession, a lady who seemed very disturbed (she was squirming and complaining how she could smell the parishioners) sat in line beside me. It felt like an oppression.
I silently prayed to Padre Pio to help this lady and also prayed a Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
A few minutes later the lady vomited. Sign of deliverance? I don’t really know.

Padre Pio is a charlatan who deliberately mutilated himself with acid to give the appearance of bearing the stigmata of Christ. Two successive Popes regarded him as a fraud and he was banned from saying Mass in public. He also had sex with women on a regular basis. This is common knowledge. You can look it up. Father Altman and others have said that the aborted 61 mil souks of aborted babies cry out for justice & would stand at the gates of heaven to oppose the entrance of all those who allowed their senseless deaths to happen. Not just abortion, desecration of their bodies, being put into “ medical waste” instead of proper burial. There is a testimony re St. Padre Pio, how a rich young Italian woman went to confession, but he declined to absolve her as she kept forgetting 1 sin. On the 3rd try, she claimed she could not recall what that was…
Padre Pio then had her close her eyes & tell him what she sees. She said she coujd see, Padre Pio standing beside a man, wearing papal vestments, but she didn’t recognize who he was. Padre Pio told her that the man would’ve been the pope, had she not aborted him. This is written in one of the autobiographical books on St. Pio.

Or maybe you know of a church that has a splinter of the True Cross on display, touch your scapular or medal or crucifix off of the reliquary and it becomes a 3rd class relic of the True Cross.

Him speaking of having respect for the devil comparison to a knife. Reminds me as children have a lack of fear of many things.
Which brings me to point out that my granddaughter as a toddler from the time the tips of her fingers could reach the kitchen counter inevitably would somehow always find the knife that was unattended! Here she would come , toddler waddle running across the room with the sharp knife with fear stuck adults panic till retrieved from her hands! It was this way into around 3 years old if not older. I've seen her eye on knives from across a room like a magnet! Go from being engrossed in play one second to full distraction to the knife the next and once cought her with one while mom dozed off sitting up reading to her. Even found ways to climb the counter. It was more than you just have to be careful or watch better or put out of reach, right ...

Regarding miscarried and aborted babies, there is the Baptism of Desire. Catechumens receive Christian Burial because of Baptism of Desire. Baptism of Desire can be applied to many preborn children. Also, aborted babies have Baptism by Blood. It can be argued that abortion is part of a Holy War; thus Baptism by Blood can be considered applicable.

I 100% agree because when you read the definition for respect it is quite frankly, the wrong word to use for the devil. I understand the context in which he is using the word, but he still could have chosen a different word, such as “careful” or other similar adjectives or synonyms. I believe priest can be flawed in their positions and opinions and therefore we pray for God’s wisdom to help with understanding or seek clarification from the catechism, etc. I also don’t believe we belong to the devil when we’re conceived or born. I understand we have original sin, but I guess I need to research the theology on that. I have always believed that we belong to God hence why he loves us so much and desires that we choose him and make him first in our lives. God respects our free will.

You are confusing the context and definitions of words. “Respect” does not equal “appreciate.”
If thieves mug you and have a gun out and you do not respect their ability to kill you, they can and will kill you.
That’s the context used in the video, where he said respect the knife in your kitchen but do not actively fear it 24/7.
The devil can disrupt your life and corrupt your soul with dangerous powers, and if you do not take great caution (respect) that power you can get yourself into trouble by thinking the devil cannot harm you. That arrogance before the devils power is a danger to you.
That’s how he said it and meant it.

I imagine an Archie Bunker in the church is not a good thing. He, from the brief mention by Father seems to be a doubter of church tradition such as relics (not required by the church to believe in such things) . So maybe before praising him as not politically correct you may well chalk him up there with Martin Luther. And, often, politically correct is the right thing to do. In the church we consider the cross to be sacred and would be offended if someone used it in a Halloween gag just as the native Americans consider a tomahawk to be sacred in their tradition and don't want it cheapened in a TV commercial for some product.

See what I don’t understand is that those who’ve unfortunately experienced demonic oppression or spiritual attacks and like we’ve just been told the devil is stronger than any human.. that we’re left to right this strong nefarious force alone..without god.. what god allows such strong evil to oppress a mere human as if they can conquer such a force?? God stays absent in such cases and it’s just makes me think that we have misunderstood something about shouts “Love” and the realities of this existence. it’s like an adult watching a adult beating up on a child and simply just watching as this child clearly has no defenses nor understanding to combat this oppression. It all makes this life seem like a curse. Like a sad sad place to have to be. It seems the wise thing to do may be to not bring any more human into the world to experience suffering. Now I realize that in my explanation I come across incredibly ignorant and I know that. For this world has steered away from anything that a wise divine entity would consider righteous and healthy. I don’t mean to be so arrogant in my comments but I do speak out of experience and am confused by it all. Perhaps god or whatever may impart more wisdom unto myself and others to understand this matter more deeply. Let’s hope so. We humans need it. We suffer so much at our own hands and mis guidance
