Been out of the UA-cam loop lately. I the first ? Looks like Ferncliff copper (decorative not a ball) and I believe the deep pink with peachy inside ball dahlia is Burlesca. Very prolific for me as is black satin.
So many beautiful dahlia varieties!! It's hard to pick a favorite. The dahlia at the beginning at 1:55 looks like one in a catalog from Brecks that I just received. It is called Nicholas. I find, however, that the same dahlias are called different names, depending upon where you buy them.
I ordered a Sylvia dahlia to honor my hubby's deceased grandma and it is one of my favorites. My absolute favorite this year was Creme d' Cassis --everyone always wanted to know the name -- it was grown from tubers that I bought at Lowes.
Hi, the first one looks like Braken Sarah to me but not sure... I have it and it's a fairly decent size maybe a 4-6" dahlia. I do have the same problem with labeling tho!!Not sure if animals take my tags or what is going on but I need to get a better system going. I'm thinking that tie tape around the base of the stem and a LARGE wooden label as well.
Awesome Dahlias!! Question. Are you cross pollinating with the organza bags or self pollinating? I want to self pollinate some Dahlias this year but I'm not sure since there are no bees on the flower if one has to use a brush to self pollinate or just a good shake now and again. What would you suggest?
Could your first unknown variety be Ferncliff Copper? The one you called Ferncliff Copper in the hoophouse looks more like Brown Sugar to me...?? I could be wrong...
Wonderful tour, really loved the closeups. I highly recommend Diva. Very long stems and blooms last 9-10 days in the vase.

Your dahlias are beautiful! I just noticed too that some of my anemone corms that I left in the ground from spring have started sprouting too!
Thank you Christina, I hope you had a great vacation! 🎃🍁🍂💚🙃

I am using the organza bags to keep the bugs off - we have corn rootworm beetles that destroy the petals 😥
Right around the Waterlily Dahlia comment about 2 minutes 50 seconds, it goes from stereo to just audio in the right headphone.
And back on again around the seven-minute mark!
I have also the wasp probleme but the fly thing is absoloutely normal in greenhouses.
👍

Hmm. I’ll have to see when they are fully open!
