Convert Ja to a 2Guard, and let him do what he does best. Score. With Yuki at Point, he can find Ja all day. He has two main options: Ja and Edey. The Grizzlies would have to be crazy to let him go. They are practically making their team worst if they do. Other teams are most likely already calling the Grizzlies. You see crazy passes like that, it would be crazy at this point to let him go.
It looks like they did pick him up on a minimal not permanent contract and picked up Scottie Pippen Jr at the point on a regular contract. I think the idea of Ja at SG and Edey at Center would be a great combo with Yuki. I worry they're just using him as a backup until Morant is 100% healed and then will let him go, or will just keep him for garbage time with an all secondary team
@AlexanderMoen yeah. There will be other teams who will be waiting. The Grizzlies are an ordinary team without a pass first PG. They are just a bunch of guys who are predictable. Yuki spreads the floor and attracts double teams. If he was 6 foot 4, he would be a starter. He was a starter in Japan and it takes him a minute to get going sometimes, but he's capable of dropping 40 when he gets hot. Coming off the bench last minutes is not compatible with him. We all saw what he can do.
There is extreme hate against Asian players in the NBA. There are literally scrubs in the bench taking minutes while decent Asian players never get to see the light. I'm happy for this man.
Because basketball isn't only making good passes on offense. You also have to play defense. It doesn't matter if you make the offense better if you're getting hunted on every play on defense. Even Luka gets critiqued for this but he's 100% a way better defender than this kid will ever be.
