Oh boy 🥵 I only found out about T.R.P when Arch Echo took them out on tour as support (A.E being one of my top 3 favourite bands!) in 2022, and been listening to A.A.L since their first album released. This is absolute GOLD! ✨🤩
Very nice for a teacher to promote his students good work ,perfect attitude, i'm always support old or new drummers and try to help them with every issues they have so understand this you do here even if you're share your exciting with your friend student work in drums.
Looooool this would be amazing 100%. Musicians that gym as well would be cool. I'd like to hear him talk to Tosin about workouts and diets with minimal music talk sprinkled in.
@@AnthonyLETSPARTY Why not 95(drumming)/05(gymming) With overlap where possible. Even Javier used to lift, I want to know if/why he stopped. Tosin was on a Car podcast and I was like wtf, but it was pretty interesting. They talked guitars for about 10 minutes of the hour+ but was still interesting. despite my not caring about cars.
That would be interesting for sure. Mental and physical heath topics should not be off limits. Those who can talk about anything make for the best podcasters.
I’m subscribed to the channel for years now why UA-cam did not show this on my feed before!! Good stuff Matt. I would love to see my fellow countryman El Estepario Siberiano having a chat with you.
Great first episode Matt. Love Lang and his Meinl play throughs are so sick. Love his setup too. And lastly, The Renaissance Project is brilliant. Hope he is on the podcast again🤘🏼🥁
Awesome! As a guitarist, dicovered TRP by following Yasutaka Nomura and been listening to them for a while now, stoked for the next album! Keep the podcasts coming!
Man what a fucking great way to explain that dichotomy between ear trained and classically trained musicians. On the drums, I feel like I feel great. But when it comes to pushing my limits, I juuuusssst SQQQUUEEEEZE that fill right on out and hope I land on 1.
I love your creativity on the drums, Matt. My friend and I would spent nights just watching clips of you play and be struck with wonder. I believe it's your detailed, focused mind and "OCD" like ways that are huge reasons why you have the skill that you have. It's sweet that you've started a drumming podcast I can watch now.
I love that you guys talked about culture and how culturally, we learn differently. As a little white kid (who went to a predominantly Mexican/black school) I completely admired the couple of friends that I had that could play drums even in middle school, simply due to them being brought up in church. They were MONSTER players at 12-14 years old, like absolutely insane. There’s something for me about black drummers specifically that make me feel that they are the best kind of in my opinion (besides Matt) lol. Idk, it’s just the feel that they bring and the the chops they bring, it’s different than whatever a white rock drummer might bring to the table. Nobody discusses this much, but I find it fascinating.
The Resonance Project is an incredible experience to listen… can’t wait for the 2nd album! Also just a heads up for next podcast, please try better framing.
Matt is the best choice of host for a drum centric podcast; he knows his stuff and he's a great communicator and interviewer. I hope this becomes the nr. one drumming podcast. Fun first episode. To many, many more!🤘🤘🤘🙏🙏🙏
HAHAHAHA! No wonder Lang Zhao is one of my favorite drummers, Matt Garstka is my first favorite drummer. I CANNOT WAIT for The Resonance Project's second project!
Lang is the man, Matt is a great podcast host, and I have been loving all the composition breakdown videos lately--but felt the need to say I would love to see a playthrough of But or Book though--always was curious why that wasn't a thing, but I get if it's too far in the past (7 years !!!)
I am furiously hoping that Lang and Yas can accompany you guys on tour later this year, would love to see them open for you in Doornroosje. One can hope right?
Yooo! You're not basic at all! Stoked you started this. Would love to hear you interview Tomas haake, Matt Halpern, buster Odeholm, jay Postones, Mike malayen, anup Sastry and may be a long shot but Danny Carey!
the new generation drummers are sick ..i am 57 jears old but what i joy the level of skills with the commin of internet..and matt garstka ...ha..ha enjoying the single basdrum lessons matt first page fun with snaar on two and four to... mixing them up also with snaar on one two tree and four ...and and more in your street have you heard of harmonic system
Let's talk about Matt halpern, Jay postones, blake richardson and Matt lynch in next episodes)) ohhhh and Mars volta drummer) he's incredible😜and, Matt, what do you think about Thomas lang and dave weckl?)
and more in your street have you heard of afrain toro s harmonic system in drums !? 5/8 is the same as 7/8 so my conclusion is 3 over 4 the same as 4 over 3 ...ore it just could be because i am a bit dislectic ...ha and tabla must be some thing by now those bolls systems thinking more in rhytm cycles then times signature greetings from the land of cheese ... we want more !!
SORRY ITS GOOGLE TRANSLATE*** Lately I like Lang more than Matt because Lang is not burned out yet and he doesn't play like a machine, his parts sound like Matt used to play before he grew his hair(it was like a turning moment) The first time I heard Matt was in an advertisement for Tama Silverstar drums. He played so hot! I fell in love with this sound, these solos. Since then, I began to follow this person and there was not a single video on UA-cam that I would not watch (not now either). but as time went on, the more I felt that Matt was no longer the burning musician. His technicality is only growing, but it seems to me that he is no longer very interested in this, he does it like a machine But while Lang's playing style is similar in many ways to Matt's, he plays WITH FIRE. He's very interesting to listen to, his style is similar to Matt's when he was at Berkeley. These two people stand in my life like two beacons, they inspire and motivate. I want to thank you for changing my life!
You know an album is going to be good when matt says its sick as fuck and now im a total fan of lang and the resonance project

Lang Zao is incredible, great first guest, Matt Gartska! Wow, one of your students! 😮
Very nice for a teacher to promote his students good work ,perfect attitude, i'm always support old or new drummers and try to help them with every issues they have so understand this you do here even if you're share your exciting with your friend student work in drums.
Yeeess finally a Matt Garstka podcast. I would love if you could bring some gym people you know! It would be interesting
Looooool this would be amazing 100%. Musicians that gym as well would be cool.

Keep it a drumming podcast, please lol

Sure. Let Joe Rogan concentrate on drummers and Matt concentrate on gym people
That would be interesting for sure. Mental and physical heath topics should not be off limits. Those who can talk about anything make for the best podcasters.
Oh heck yeah! I would love to have more of these podcasts man, listening to you and Craig Reynolds talking was so enjoyable.
That's dope y'all mentioned Sebastian Lanser. He's another one of my top favorites.
I’m subscribed to the channel for years now why UA-cam did not show this on my feed before!! Good stuff Matt. I would love to see my fellow countryman El Estepario Siberiano having a chat with you.
