  • In this an easy DIY video I will show you how to clean your shower head and the shower head holes from hard water, calcium and limescale deposits just using white vinegar.
I am in Arizona and the water here is very hard and chlorinated, so my shower heads and the shower head holes get plugged up with hard water deposits very easily.
I prefer not to use CLR or other store bought cleaners because they are loaded with toxins and try to use vinegar and baking soda whenever possible.
I soak the shower heads in vinegar as long as possible (in this case 2 hours) this way the vinegar gets into the smallest holes and pores and makes it easier to clean the shower head rubber nozzles.
After I'm done soaking the shower heads, I use a tooth brush to scrub the hard water deposits that didn't come out just from the soaking.
If there is mold on your shower head, put a mask and gloves on, take it outside and soak it in vinegar as long as you can. Then scrub it very well while still wearing the mask and the gloves.
NEVER CLEAN MOLD WITH BLEACH OR ANY OTHER CHEMICALS BECAUSE THE REACTION IS EVEN MORE TOXIC THAN THE MOLD ITSELF.

O.M.G.! The first time I tried the baggy method I got it up there. taking it off I lost control of the baggie. The next thing I knew I was wearing the vinegar. Now I always see that in slow motion😂. your bowl method is by far a better method! 👍

LOL! Hi P.C.! I actually find out after I posted the video that I can also only unscrew the shower head part just before the pipe and it is so much more easier... too late, I guess :) I learn something new every day :) But yes, you are right - that whole plastic bag thing is a massive pain. And I did spill the vinegar over me at least a couple of times, too :)) Now, that I'm pretty much done cleaning the house :), I will get back to my gardening videos :) Thank you for watching dear and have a wonderful weekend!

Boy, that vinegar is some powerful stuff! There's probably a 100 ways to use it and the thing is it's all natural, love it!

I love how well it cleans and clears the faucets. It will discolor some metals like your gloves.

HA! The best way to find any cut on your body is to subject it to lemon/lime/vinegar juice! Awesome vids as usual! See you found some tools, or are they YOURS? (the ugly garage incident with "lack of power" power tools from a year or so back...) Yes, I'm keeping track... hey - 23 tomatoes (out of 63) turning color in my indoor plantation! Thought you'd be proud of me! Check on the Micro Toms? I have 4 out of a dozen turning color (albeit slightly larger than peas) for your indoor plants... Thanks again, Cheers!

Hello Eric - you are funny (those were my husband's tools and it took me a while to find them :)). I can't grow many things indoors because my husband freaks out about bugs in the house :) And yes, I am proud of you! I wish I could turn the living room into garden - it is a waste of space right now :) Thank you so much for stopping by Eric and good luck with the indoor food forest :)) Best, Sasha

Hi there! I have the same shower head as you! I was wondering. I did not think cleaning a shower head was necessary but a few days ago, I was not happy with the shower, I felt that I always had to keep playing with it to get maximum rinsing. Anyway, we got a new one. Don't know the make but it was ridiculously to light in pressure. Okay, got another one. Still not happy with the pressure BUT there was a ring of openings in the second one that were harder in pressure. I noticed that when I used this one, my hair came out AMAZING. go figure! ug. Okay, now because this second one is still not optimum pressure I cleaned, with vinegar, the old one. It's nice and clean but I only soaked the part where the water comes out. I was afraid to soak the whole thing. I just don't know enough about this kind of thing. Now that I've seen your video, I can do what you did. Can you please explain why this second new one we tried had this wonderful affect on my hair? Even my husband noticed his hair had this difference and he never notices anything! LOL! Anyway, thank you for posting the video! God bless. XO

Hello! So, as far as the water pressure, I remember an episode of Seinfeld where they all had really bad hair day because the water pressure in their building was low, but I’m not sure what the correlation is... As far as putting the whole shower head in vinegar, I don’t really care if something happens to the chrome part because those are very old.. Thank you for watching and thank you for your comment!!!

I'm going to try this method. My showerheads need to have the hard water deposits cleaned. I've lived in my place for almost ten years so the build-up on them is pretty bad.

I’ve seen people fill up ziplocks with vinegar and tie it to the shower head but it’s a bit challenging to do it.

Did you say worthless husband? lol I still do the ziploc bag. We were visiting my in-laws and my MIL wanted hers clean so my husband decided to remove the shower head which hadn't been removed in decades. The whole pipe came out of the wall. :( A day I wont forget. hahaha Plumber and a few hundred dollars later and problem solved. If it would have been my home I would have repaired it. Too cheap to pay a plumber. lol I have found spraying it after every shower helps a lot. Hate spring cleaning. :(

Ugh... you could fill up a ziplock bag and tie it up, but it is a pain and you might end up with vinegar all over you. Try to maybe spray it with a spray bottle and keep reapplying until it’s easy to scrub the deposits with a soft brush.
