Beautiful! Is this the size that animator's/background painters use when they scan them into the actual animation program? I'm struggling with finding the specific size of backgrounds paper to use for my animation. Thanks!!!
Wonderful 😀😀 I'm not an artist but i love watching someone paint.Especially Ghibli backgrounds. It inspired me to paint.but i know i can't do it 😭Those mountains are beautiful 🎉🙏
@@madjidchouarbi3921 acrylic is not re-wettable so you'd have to use different techniques, but gouache is very similar to poster color. They're both more opaque and thick versions of watercolor.
Thanks for the VDO! I have always wonder how can the animator paint those beautiful background! May I ask whether you have to water the paint down before use? Or you can use it directly after squeeze it from the tube?
Thank you for watching. The paint is watered down. The ratio can be thicker or thinner depending on the picture to be painted. Also, as you can see, I apply water to both sides of the drawing paper and paint while the paper is damp.
I have two questions. I’ve watched this video so many times but I’m having a hard time using the flat brush to create the clouds. 1) how long do you let the tmk paper dry after wetting before adding paint? 2) is the flat brush you’re using for the clouds dry or wet? Thanks for sharing this amazing technique.
Thank you for watching and commenting. It is hard to convey in words, but I will note my response. 1) The reflection of the water on the paper is just about gone. It is an image that goes from glass to frosted glass. The time is hard to say depending on the environment such as temperature and humidity at the time of working. 2) First, erase the sky-colored paint with water. After removing water from the washed brush with a rag, let the brush absorb the unwanted paint. After that, put white paint on the brush and add the color of clouds. This video was taken many years ago. At that time our filming and editing techniques were poor. Please take a look at many of the videos we have published recently. We explain more clearly.

I guess keeping the paper moist is the key to getting such a smooth flat consistency with the paint?
That is so.
But NICKER paints use gum arabic, which creates more of this effect.
Everyone else: Ok gotta find a great palette

Don't worry, if you watch this video a lot and practice with NICKER's POSTER COLOUR, you will be able to draw.
Oh but you can.
Will you be able to achieve close to the same effect by using Gouache instead of poster color?
Ergo Proxy I think you can achieve this kind of effect with acrylic paint or fine gouache.
How about poster colors?
Will that be a suitable substitute?
quit The Internet what about pentel poster color
Postercolor is almost the same thing as Gouache. Acrylic is different
