- We are back working on the HO scale layout. In this episode we build the last big kit for the new section of the layout. Another episode full of tips and techniques. Hope you enjoy the video and happy modeling everyone!!!
Can’t wait to see you start the land forms and scenery on this new section!
I’m excited! I’ve been waiting a long time. Thanks for watching buddy! 👍
One of my favorite videos. A lot of thought and happy accidents make this build more interesting. Thank you for your hard work.
Thank you so much Luc!!! I hope my accidents help others. Thanks for watching and happy modeling!!!
Hi ya Jason. Another great build. Whereas the “ wooden “ building magically came together, the “ brick“ building put up a fight. Lol. Thanks for showing us your happy accidents. In the end it’s a real stunner. With it’s patina roof. Oh…… your bottle of light green avocado is really jealous of your new green color, thicket. Lol. Light green avocado has been your go to green for a while now. Lol. Your color sense and palette are a huge reason your structures work so well with one another. Thanks for the update. See ya next time.
Thank you so much for the kind words Norman!!! I always appreciate hearing from you! 👍
Jason, Thank you for yet another inspirational video.
Your advice about patience and not getting frustrated at mistakes is soooo true.
A mistake is an opportunity to make a kit or building unique, and have your stamp on it.
I am now going back over my earlier model building, and raising some weatherboards (clapboards in the States), and adding chipping paint. you have so many great ideas and thoughts.
Cheers, and stay safe, Michael
Thank you so very much Michael!!! I truly appreciate it! 👍 Happy modeling!
Looks great Jason! I have been down that road of making mistakes in building, it does make it more challenging to figure out a solution. There is always a way! Thanks for sharing your tips!
Thank you so much!!! I always appreciate it!
The longer I watch the more I realize that painting is almost 90% of the construction of a model. Having worked in the printing industry, I know that the visual aspect, what your eye thinks it sees, influences the entire image.
You coloring detail is everything. This project could be quite mundane, but the coloring makes it POP.
Ammo Product is far more all encompassing than I ever knew, what a wide variety of products from one source. ;-)
Thank you so much Robert!!! I agree 100% it’s all in the paint. Thanks for watching buddy and happy modeling!!!
man what a build . I sure hope you take us through the retaining walls and roads with us... what a journey... thanks for sharing Jason...mark..
Thank you so much Mark!!! And yes I will be taking you through the entire journey. Thanks for watching!!!
Great job Jason, and is not long video when is enjoyable. A mistake is not a problem when we can fix it, and we learn from that.
Thank you for share.
Cesar
Thank you so much Cesar!!! I really appreciate it!!
Great build Jason.
Now really looking forward to seeing you landscape all those areas in between the buildings!!!
And creating that bit more harbour/ocean.
Thank you so much Chazzy!!! It’s going to be so fun! I’ve been looking forward to it for a long time! Thanks for watching and happy modeling!!!
Truly superb and inspirational work.
Wow another great build thanks Jason 😀👍
Thank you so much Michael!!!
Jason,
I have been with you for years now. I have adored you. I have admonished you. This is the first time I have laughed out loud. And I do mean loud.🤣😶. This build makes the concept of measure twice, cut once appear as a Master Class. I couldn't have enjoyed myself more. Thanks.
Jim
Thank you so much for your continued support!!! 👍
Beautiful build of that kit, Jason. It really fits in with the others there.
Thank you so much Greg!!!
Light avocado
Iced coffee
Sweet chocolat ...

No, time for Jason's vidéo !!!!
Lol, and to think that some one gets payed to name those. 🤣
Love the whole build, but particularly the verdigris effect on the copper roof and awning. Also good that you showed your mistakes and how you overcame them. Cheers
Thank you so much Davie!!! I hope my mistakes help others! Happy modeling!!!

Greetings Urs
Hi Urs!!! Thanks for watching buddy!!! 👍
That build looks amazing as usual, but man that corroded roof, wow!
Thank you so very much Marco!!! 👍
I love the paint job. Great work!!!
Thank you so much!!!
Excellent video Jason, your layout is looking awesome 👍
Thank you so much!!!
Jason, I do woodworking and build models. when glue squeezes out like your roof I use a soft tooth brush to clean the glue off it works great.
Thanks for the great tip Steve and thanks for watching!!!
One of your best....the mistakes are what separates you
Please keep posting
Thank you so much!!!
Nice build!
fantastic build and video Jason... Keep up the great video's you do.. gives me some great ideas when building my O/On30 scale kits.
Thank you so much John!!! Some day I would love to try O scale. Thanks for watching and happy modeling!!!
Hey Jason ......thanks for sharing your work.....you and Doug were an inspiration to me during the pandemic..... I retired in December of 2019 as a licensed architect for 44 years only to be trapped in lockdown during the pandemic..... I purchased a kit from FOS scale models and started building structures in O scale to keep me busy.....after the first kit I realized I could do this without using a kit and started scratch building my structures using lumber from Northeastern scale lumber.....as an architect I built models during my career but hadn't built any in a long time...... I was a model train enthusiast since childhood and had trains growing up...... I built about a dozen structures some which I designed and some inspired from FOS kits and Carolina craftsman kits.... I used a program called SketchUp to create the models in my computer and them pulled dimensions from the models and hand cut each piece and painted and assembled them using your techniques as well as Doug's techniques...... North Eastern scale lumber posted my models on their Facebook page.....you can see them there.....
With that said I was wondering if you could recommend some paints from Ammo that you have been using on your models......thanks again Jason

Another awesome build Jason!! I’ve just started my 2nd ever build and your videos are most helpful!!

Great build. Greetings

Thank you so very much Seth!!! 👍
@@JasonJensenTrains legend!!
That looks really cool!
Thank you!!! I really appreciate it!
Hi Jason,
I especially love the building with the copper roof. At the end of the video, as you are talking, the copper roof is glowing in the light, which is a really beautiful effect, just as it would be in real life!
Hope all is well with you!
Lisa
Thank you so much Lisa!!! Always great to hear from you! Hope you have a new project going. Happy modeling!!!
@@JasonJensenTrains I do have a new project going. Work has halted on the subway station diorama in lieu of creating a monster for the Monster Bash 2021 on UA-cam. Today, I think I am going to start over for the third time. I'm not formally invited to participate, but I am, because well, I want to see what I can do within the confines of the Monster Bash parameters. The cards I drew using the random card generator are, a television head man, a steak, a pipe, an acorn, a hairy shouldered arm holding an axe, a crescent moon and stars, and striped glove hand.
This week took a very emotional turn with a beloved pet, and I have a broken heart and a pit in my stomach. Anyway, I know I have a surprisingly cohesive idea for the build, I am struggling to execute it. A human with alleged evil intent may be too much for me to execute for my first real adventure in sculpting. I don't know, because I feel broken right now. I have some pictures on Instagram that are pretty sad, but one has to start somewhere!

Another great tutorial build video, mistakes are covered and overcome.. oops, didn’t read instructions, lol.. explanation of choice paints, shaders, filters, etc while still using craft paints are your trade build.. never disappointed.. Hapoy Modeling friend🎶☕️☕️
Thank you so much Ed, I always appreciate it!!! 👍
excellent as always greetings from venezuela
Thank you so much Oscar!!! I truly appreciate it!!!
Thanks Jason.
Thank you so much Rick!!! 👍
Jason, nice recovery! (even if you did cut on your new mat) 😇
When is Jason Jensen going to build a FSM KIT? Inquiring minds want to know…. Lol. Great video ….
Lol, some day. I have two of them sitting on the shelf.
woooooo my dear teacher
Thank you!!!
Glad to see you make mistakes, makes me feel better about my mistakes!
:)
We all make mistakes! Lol. Thanks for watching James!!! 👍
How do you keep your wood from not warping when you are using acrylics?
The back of the walls get 1/8 inch wood strips glued to it so the walls don’t warp.
imperfect, is perfect...try and learn...pausitive attitude
nice improvisation and very cool project
Thank you so much!!! I really hope people benefit from seeing me improvise. As always, thanks for watching!!! 👍
Great build, it was very helpful to see how you had to make adjustments as you built the model. What did you use for the curtains?
Thank you so much John!!! I used tan construction paper. Thanks for watching!!!
Another great build. Would you please consider building the "Doc Koontz Store" by Carolina Craftsman?
Thank you so much!!! I’ll have to look that structure up on the website. It’s always a possibility. Thanks for watching!!!
Nice video Jason. The copper roof looks stunning. What is your experience using a combination of acrylic paints and enamel washes.
Thank you so very much Ronald!!!
Awesome build, as always! One question if I may - why do you sometimes use Aleen's Tacky Glue and at other times Elmer's White Glue? Aren't they similar enough to use the Tacky Glue throughout (which I personally prefer to normal white glue)?
Thank you so much Norm!!! Lol, I don’t know why I go back and forth. Maybe I need more sleep, 😂
@@JasonJensenTrains ... lol... I totally get it... I'm just using tacky glue for everything, it seems to have just a little bit more substance than regular white glue. Take care my friend 👊😎
@@normg2242 I use tacky glue for areas I need to kind of stick quickly but still moveable if I need them to be. Normal PVA I use on larger areas that I can leave to dry for a while. I use a cheap, thinner PVA as a crackle effect on anything I need to look cracked. I think everyone just finds what works best for them in the moment don’t they 👍🏻
I like white glue for joining wood parts. I use Tacky glue between wood and styrene.
do you order direct from the ammo catalog, or on line?
I order directly from Ammo but it may be faster to order from a US distributor.
Can you recommend a company that does 1/35 scale laser cut building kits ?
Sorry, don’t know of any. Thanks for watching!!!
19:44 what material? is it gypsum?
Are those comic boxes to your left at the beginning of the video?
Yes, I collect comics! 👍
Why not add some lighting effects to the inside and outside and surrounding landscape.!!!!!!
I’ve decided not to do any lighting due to time and money. I will be adding more lighting to the room on the ceiling so that the layout is very well lit. Thanks for watching Ernest!!!
@@JasonJensenTrains I use a battery operated candle light inside some of my models. I can’t afford all the fancy stuff. I may push the boat out and get battery operated fairy lights 😱😂
Very sad that a few years ago Mig's wife came down with brain cancer. She was stunningly beautiful and a modeler also, they thought she was going to make it but then passed away. Im sure that is why he supports hospitals, all for a good cause.
Jason. Jason. Jason... Does this video include a paid promotion for Ammo Paints!? 🤬
Lol, I just love the products and want to share it buddy! Thanks for watching!!! 👍
