Thank you Melissa for this video. Just purchased this shear and didn't know that the hole could cut thick gauge wire. Just cut 8 gauge brass wire without any problems. Very helpful!
I think he may have discontinued them. But you can always contact them to see if they have some back stock or if they are planning on making them again.
Thank you Melissa. I looked on the website and indeed it is much more affordable. I do not however see how thick a sheet it will cut. do you know what gauge (sterling silver) it will cut to? Thanks!
Melissa, Thank you for this helpful video. I have two questions. Will the cut edge be flat or pinched? If I am cutting a longer piece, will there be a mark where I moved the metal against the shear, requiring filing. I know it will curve, but basically I want to know if the cut will be as clean as a 12" guillotine shear? Thanks a bunch, Camille
camille Mcdaniel In my experience with this shear the cut edge is flat, not pinched. In regards to cutting a longer length, no, it will not be as clean as that on a 12" guillotine shear. Now, having said that, I find that if I work my metal through with some help of another person, I minimize the little kink that happens when moving it through to cut it.
Thank you for a great video! I was really impressed with this shear and went onto Potter USA to purchase it. Unfortunately, it's no longer stocked by them. Do you have any other recommendations that are around the same price point?
Janell Correll I know that Kevin has been working on a new Guillotine Shear. It would be best to give him a call and ask him if he plans on making the bench shear still.
Will do. Thanks for the quick response. Thanks again for making such great videos. I've watched a couple of them now and look forward to watching more!
Marko23o I am not certain what you mean, there isn't a top platen on the shear. There is a table, but it is pretty simple to install as you can see in this video. Perhaps you were referring to the top platen on the presses? And those are super simple as they are magnetic. You just place it where you want it.

That is fantastic Tracy! I am glad I could help. Thanks for the feedback. :)
I don't find this on his website anymore. I wonder if he still makes it.

Deborah, I believe it can cut upto about 1/4" thick stock. I believe that is around 8 gauge, but don't quote me on the gauge part.

How do you install the top paten?

Can you tell me what model number you have Melissa as I don't see it listed in his website. Thanks.
+Fiona Thompson the best thing to do is call them. I know he has changed the shear since I received mine.
How much it cost ? Please
+superpower555 I am not sure of the cost. Check with www.potterUSA.com for pricing. That is where mine came from.
Is that a 6" or 8"
pijnto this is a 6” shear. However, it will not cut a full 6” sheet of metal in one stroke.
That was quick! thanks
