Adding that angle iron makes a great addition to it now that what should be done from the manufacturers. Thank you George for mentioning this to me and for all the valuable information you gave us in your videos.
This should improve the performance of my 12" shears. I have some bed rail angle iron that should do the trick. Thank you for all your helpful videos & books.
Thanks, Charles. If you want to try one of the transfer punch sets, Harbor Freight has them for $9.99. Can't believe the price. That is what I paid for the set in 1985. Although, using the drill bit worked well.
You can use the correct drill bit if you lightly tap it with a hammer while you turn the drill bit with your fingers to make sure you get dead centre. Then centre punch.
Jlm Raney Jim, I have a 12" bench shear which I am planning on adding this addition. Also, check out ua-cam.com/video/RIQVLJrX_Qg/v-deo.html. This makes it even better.
+vimaljks If I needed to have mine sharpened, I'd go to a sharpening service and have it done professionally. Just checked online and found a number of companies that sharpen. It is not something I would do myself. Check around and then compare their prices with a new set of blades.
Sorry, year late but didn't see your question pop up. If you live in a larger city, there are probably industrial sharpening services. May be cheaper to buy replacement blades. I would be reluctant to hand sharpen.

Construct Icon Bed rails will work great. Good steel.
That is a great modification to the shear I used the drill bit method when I made new jaws for my vise since I have no transfer punches
not2fast4u2c Your're right. that drill bit techniques works well.
As always George, very cool. You are indeed the jig meister! I think I probably will make one of these tables for my shear. Thanks!

Good idea. I wonder is this would work on a larger shear. because, I have the same problem with right angles. I guess I'll find out...
