Tatiana is the true definition of girl power! THE best singer in metal hands down at the moment, leaving all the boys in her wake and trying desperately to catch up. She is opening doors for females few ever thought possible and as a male metalhead it is absolutely brilliant seeing a girl kicking our asses... love it!
You will get a lot of comments on this i am sure. Everyone loves that wait for it moment and it's an obsession for me to watch people's first reaction to Tatiana. What a great and tight band!
@@inbedwithmusic2130 Yes it's a blast when you see other people's jaws drop when you know it's coming. I know that you said you didn't like the screaming or actually growling but respect her ability. It is a gift and a talent that not many posses.Great reaction!
I'm just here to second the comment that suggested you react to Jinjer - Perennial live at Wacken 2019. It's probably the greatest live vocal performance I've ever seen.
I agree with the recommendation but there are so many live Jinjer performances that are "the best live performances ever" for me. Pit of consciousness live in Kiev, Captain clock live, Perennial live at Wacken (of course), Teacher Teacher live in Melbourne, all the live gigs they have done like the 2 hellfests, live in madrid, there is an almost endless list.
@@jonjon3005I have to admit that I've not really dived into much Jinjer stuff, just the couple of songs that everyone seems to react to, so I'll definitely check out those performances you've listed. Thanks for the recommendations
One of my favourites is Teacher Teacher live in Melbourne, Tatiana has an amazing voice, the whole band are outstanding musicians. To learn to growl and scream she used to go to the edge of tawn and just let it all out at the traffic. Pisces is one of those song that catches out reactors who have never seen them before, another great song is Judgement (& punishment)
Yup... Perennial (Live at Wacken) is next... proves that yup.... she definitely does it and does it just as well live as in the studio... Speaking of the studio, Judgement and Punishment (One Take) should be your stop after Perennial.
they visited us here in OZ in march 2020 just before we shut down , they played 6 shows in 6 nights , i got to 4 of them , their melbourne show got released as a live album , they got this 54 year old back into a mosh pit for the first time in 25 years .
Her name is Tatiana Shmailyuk. The band is named Jinjer. They are a Ukrainian metalcore, progressive metal and groove metal band from Donetsk. Formed in2008.Nome of the founding members remain. Tatiana and guitarist Roman arrived in 2009 and is considered the official year of formation. Bassist Eugene and drummer Vlad was then added.
This reaction is the first I've ever heard of Jinjer in my life. I saw it on my recommended and I think it's fun to react with someone else at the same time. And wow... Her voice is amazing. I can't make out the words in the screamo section but just the sound alone is so hype. Something about a feminine voice with rock/metal percussion is perfect. Going to have to get into this band! Thanks for reacting or I never would've discovered them!
Fresh Jinjer reactions never get old!!! I fell in love with this band almost immediately. I was basically "this can't be real" at first but by the 3rd verse I was like "please god let this be real, this might be the most metal thing I have ever heard". You will get a lot of the usual follow up recommendations for Teacher, Teacher and Perennial but I want to recommend Home Back instead. Reason being Jinjer is from Ukraine and this song is extremely fitting considering the conflict going on. Also because it's my favorite.
A lot of folks who don’t even like metal (like me) enjoy watching first time reactions to this song. Vocal coach Julia Nilon’s reaction is solid gold (check it out, now that you know what’s coming). Anyway, yes, it’s really impressive-the whole composition is excellent-love the changing time signatures, the instrumentals are amazing the drummer (this was done to showcase their new drummer) is awesome, and it takes real talent to do what they do here. And Tatiana’s scream/growl/whatever it is is definitely wild and she’s obviously doing it without making hamburger of her vocal chords, which is amazing. These guys are great-no question. And right now, after the guys fought Russia in Ukraine for awhile, the band is back to doing concerts-now they’re doing it to raise money for the war effort. For that, I’d buy a ticket, even tho this isn’t my kind of music.
Now that you’ve watched and reacted if you want to know how Tatiana growls have a look at The fairy voice mothers channel, Loli is very good at explaining and demonstrating how it’s done. She has done a reaction on this so it’s worth looking if you’re that curious.Your face was a picture when Tati was growling, these sort of reactions are priceless!
Tatiana has said that she is not really sure, herself, how she does it. She has developed it over years and must practice to be able to keep doing it. It involves both the real vocal cords and the false cords. I have learned this from interviews she has on YT and wise commenters. They are a unique and amazing band and do not consider themselves a heavy metal band, but rather a band of extremes.
What she's doing in those harsh vocals (scream or growl) is not using her true vocal cords to make the sound. Other parts of the throat like the epiglottis, tongue position can be used too. She's using her false vocal cords that are above them in the throat. The true vocal cords don't come in to play. So doing it like that doesn't cause damage to your cords and can go from style to style easily. Learning to do it can take years to master.
I could be wrong, but I think it's called "growling" what she's doing... I'm not an expert in heavy or thrash metal. I will be sleeping with lights on tonight!!!
Jinjer is a band from Ukraine. Every member is an exceptional musician. They are Roman on guitar, Vlad on drums, Eugene on bass and Tatiana on vocals. The war in Ukraine forced them to pause their touring, but recently they have allowed to leave and tour the European summer festivals as ambassadors of their country.
@@inbedwithmusic2130 If you did live stage versions of them, you'll see she can transition in her voice on the fly so easily. With Pisces many thought it might be fake, till they saw the live stage performances. Go find Teacher teacher live in Melbourne
@@inbedwithmusic2130 "Perennial", " Teacher, Teacher", "Who is Gonna be the One?", "Judgement and Punishment" (one take version), "Vortex", "Just Another", "Scissors", "Prophecy". "I Speak Astronomy", "Retrospection", "Outlander", ....anything at all by Jinjer. They don't have a bad one. They are my all time favorite band now.
I’m not a fan of metal or screaming, but be careful, you’ll fall in love with this band. They play many styles, very progressive, and the whole band are master musicians.
Hi Jess... your first reaction to this band was exactly like everyone's first reaction, especially to this song. My first reaction was exatly the same. So, obviously, I didn't expect enything else... don't get me wrong, I loved your reaction to "Pisces" very much, but it turned out exactly like most other reactors' first reaction. But I'm glad you also noticed the artistry behind all the surprising vocal moments. Tatjana is a fantastic singer and her band is just as fantastic as she is. Meanwhile I love this band... in spite of all the growling and screaming, which I normally don't listen to very much either, exactly like you. May I recommend another artist to you ? Have you ever heard of Eivor ? Her voice will leave you speechless, believe me ! And the song I wouid like you to react to, is "Falling free (Live at the Old Theatre in Torshavn)"... the song and her vocals will give you goosebump, after goosebump, aftger goosebump.. while giving you the feeling of floating in space - in slow motion ! I would therefore recommend to close your eyes while listening to this song. Best wishes : Gerry
I'm rather picky when it comes to harsh vocals. I like it when it's used as a contrast and "Pisces" is an example of that - it fits the theme of the song very well, too. I dismissed _all_ forms of harsh vocals until I started to listen to Epica, a Dutch symphonic metal band I highly recommend that you check out. As for Jinjer, I'd recommend "I Speak Astronomy" (excellent music video for that one, btw) and "Teacher, Teacher". I think that the former in particular has some definite prog elements to it, which this prog-/metalhead approves of! 😊 Thanks for the reaction!

While everyone notices Tatiana's vocal abilities right away, and deservedly so. This live session was done to showcase their new (at the time) drummer Vlad. He , Roman on guitar, and Eugene on bass are all great musician as well. They are from Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. They are back on tour after the guys were recently allowed to leave Kiev.
While you are doing live videos please do "Cloud Factory" LIVE OFFICIAL. Tati is so good and I can't say enough about this band and how good they are. The Live Official video for Cloud Factory is a song they did before this lineup orginally but the Live Official is with this lineup. It's funny Tati flashes Vlad!. I really agree with the suggestion of Perennial but Cloud factory is a banger too!
And there are many more amazing female metal bands to discover some of them without grunting. As I´m Dutch I recommend another ´fairytale´ gothic metal Dutch band Blackbriar song.. It´s meshmerising. Song.. ´Deadly Diminuendo´ ua-cam.com/video/G6YFa05L2A8/v-deo.html . Also Dutch female 'operatic' singer band Epica is an ear banger.
