@@AngryNewAger I was happy to see her back too for all those reasons and upset when she died for the same reasons. That said, I still would have been annoyed that she couldn't end up with Clark anyway.
Alycia was so well known in the community by people loving Smallville! Haha Sarah Carter is so funny about the danger part -- it's great that they kept the set professional
I HATED when Alicia died. I was in disbelief and actual anger, as her redemption was so poetically written. It may have just been a TV show, but it was compelling character development.
I was super excited that she was back! I would have LOVED if she was a regular, because her and Clark broke the rut the writin on the show was in! And she was fun and interesting and so great for Clark, and she was great for him! And then they just went and fridged her, and she was never mentioned again.
This was the greatest missed moment in the entire run of the show. I recently rewatched Alicia’s arc and it still ticks me off that they killed her. She should have absolutely been promoted to a regular and they should have let her and Clark have a long and healthy relationship. We knew he would end up with Lois, rightfully so, but they should have allowed Clark to have a genuine long-term loving relationship with Alicia first. Their dynamic was always so much more compelling than that between Lana and Clark.
They definitely did her dirty. And the way they killed the character was so terrible. Probably the worst death in the show, worse than Lionel getting pushed out a window.
Idk. I think Alicia’s death sucked, but as far as worst death on the show goes, I think Ryan takes the win. The episode where Ryan dies still brings a tear to my eye and a lump in my throat; every time.
I completely agree. And I think the stupidest death in smallville. That still drives me crazy to the day. Is when jimmy died. I think that was the worst writing of the show.
She wasn't just crazy. She had an endearing quality that made me root for her. I was sad that she was killed off (so quickly), but the Superman story talks about Clark and Lois, not Clark and Alicia. But the fact that Alicia knew about Clark and Lana didn't, made a love arc possible where there was no room for between Clark and Lana.
Absolutely the most gut wrenching episode when she died!! I literally cried as a 30 something year old man 😭😂 She lit the Smallville small screen on fire!! 🔥
Absolutely my favourite guest star on Smallville. Alicia should've had like a whole season come back, and while I'd prefer the character didn't die, something would have to happen - I just wish we'd gotten more time with her.
I don't know I think I like the fact that she had those three episodes. I think if they had given her more episodes it wouldn't have made her death has impacting. The reason being is how the entire town hated her and saw her as a psycho. That every one believe she was one killing all those people and even had Clark doubting here. Then just him finding her dead was just gut wrenching. I think it was perfect the way they did it.
Really enjoyed the overall arc of Clark/Alicia and the amazing chemistry between Tom and Sarah, my only wish is that Sarah had a more regular role on the show than she did but I love the fact that in only a couple episodes her character still resonates so well today, her character, relationships, shades of grey were just beautifully written and portrayed on the show! 🥰
I mean she's totally right, their love story was different from all the others, it felt organic. They actually went on dates. They were people with special abilities just trying to be normal. They really liked each other for who they were. It made us feel like their love story deserved to be longer. And she was dangerous. Their chemistry was oozing out of the screen, imagine if you were working on set. Like Michael said, their chemistry was undeniable. It would be easy to think that there could have been some real feelings there with how well she acted.
Everyone saying her death was the worst. It was devastating, but the writers knew what they were doing. And Tom's acting/ reacting to her death was excellent. It's all that is what made her death impactful.
I would have liked Alicia to last at least for the entire Season 4. Not in a dangerously unhealthy way for Clark but as a story of love, understanding and complicity that I loved in their brief but intense relationship also interesting and strengthened from the point of view that this relationship was opposed by everyone. In reality I think that the writers and producers loved Clark and Alicia very much together, so much so that they understood that the story, the relationship between Clark and Alicia could have overshadowed Lana and probably also Lois at least in the initial phase of the entrance of Lois' character into Season 4. It was very nice to listen to Sarah Carter and it was great to see her and Tom together again. ❤❤❤
She's more stunning today than she was when Smallville was on. And, she seems like a great hang. Her summation of her role on the show was spot-on. That connection and "being seen" is exactly what connected.
As I don't believe that Alicia Baker was canon to the DC Universe, it would've been great to see her in the series for a longer time. I can understand the story arc, although Clark & Alicia were so great together...true love story! I broke my heart when she was killed, and Clark was clinging onto her body. Ms. Carter and Mr. Welling, you both did such a great job telling their tragic love story!
Regarding the chemistry aspect, I've heard that certain actors are deliberately kept from interacting too closely on set, at least until promotional activities, to prevent a scenario where they might discover the true nature of each other and potentially clash with their personalities, thus risking the chemistry on the show.
Alicia was an amazing and also complex character and her death was a complete tragedy. Her relationship with Clark was brief, but powerful and it felt like not just Clark lost something, but we all did. Sarah Carter played the role with charm & strength and Clark's pain was also ours. 💔
I hated how after her death her character was just forgotten. There was no lingering effects to what happened. She dies and the next episode was ok moving on like nothing happened. she was an important character and it would’ve been nice if her death impacted Clark for a least a little while.
I thought it was clever to have Alicia be very different from Lana in the show. Because by season 3 and 4, the whole Clark and Lana roller coaster was getting stale in my opinion. So, Alicia’s dark side taking over and seeing how it influenced Clark was a breath of fresh air. It was smart too in Alicia’s relationship knowing Clark’s secret foreshadowed what was to come with Lana later and Lois.
I never felt that Alicia was crazy. I always felt she was broken. The way she was raised to the way she was treated by her doctor. All she wanted was to be herself. Out of all of the returning guest starts, Sarah had the most impact to the story.
When you think about how self-contained Tom can be, it's not surprising at all that he'd feel so comfortable to be himself with Sarah. These characters were simply extensions of themselves. That said, it's also not surprising that they told Crazy Sarah to stay away from Tom. 😂
She was probably the most compelling love interest outside of the main 2 but lets not act like she didn't expose him to chole drugged him and was doing too much but i did love their chemistry 😮😫
Killing of Alicia was a sin imo. I loved that character. I actually wanted her to be with Clark more than any other character. No disrespect to Lana or Lois, she was just all in from day one. I mean, the end scene of s04e11...
Man i'm re-watching 4x11. Smallville is forever for me. I re-watche sometime! Now i'm watching again after years ans years! Nice times in my life in 2004! Alicia, Sarah excellent and beatiful actress before and now!
This is about my 4th time binging Smallville and I can tell you straight up - the chapters where Sarah shows up in them - are my favorite, most interesting and fun. She was beautiful with the most beautiful smile I've seen (still beautiful with a stunning smile btw), she was fun, crazy, adventurous.. I genuinely think she was the diamond in season 4.
I think since they had so much chemistry and did scenes like that, they were just being careful. Tom was married and did preventions as not to start any romantic connections bet them. The show was being watched by kids and teens back then. That would damage Smallville big time..for sure..I mean Mike and Tom have expressed their likeness to Sarah, how attractive she was and made them feel like dorks.
1) sarah carter best guest star ever on smallville. 2) well written solid arc, even more amazing chemistry on screen. 3) hated the abrupt nature of Alicia’s death. 4) 1-3 are 💯
Always loved Alica. Of Clark's romantic interest outside of Lois, Alicia was always my favorite. It felt like they just let it work unlike Lana where there was always some unnecessary drama. Plus the sight of Clark just being himself, relaxed and enjoying himself when otherwise he was always so serious and straight laced made me happy for him. Alicia could have been another character that got written into the comics, still sucks they killed her off.
You guys had lovely chemistry. I was SO ready for Alicia and Clark to be an item on a longer term. I, too, was really mad when Alicia was killed. SO MAD.
Also I would of love that she’s was in a long seasons arc to less Clark and Lana stuff until Clark and Lois started dating that will be better and relationship wouldn’t be toxic but at least more better then what ever they did with Clark and Lana for 8 seasons of waiting not really doing anything also
It speaks volumes to how great of an actress Sarah is that in only 3 episodes she was able to make Alicia such a memorable character. I was devastated when she was killed. I really wish her and Clark could have been the main realtor at least the rest of Season 4 and maybe into S5 before Lois.
Yeah, I agree with them on first love. It can be a great feeling thinking this is the one but then you look back and realize the red flags that you did not see from the beginning. Also, first time dating someone can be a learning experience.
I think this is the only episode of Talkville and even IOU where Tom has smarten up and nice room background. Shows he really respects Sarah. She is a lovely person. Rosenbaum got a little jealous on the action.
Holy smokes, she hasn't aged a day and my crush on her deepens!!! I still swear that she was bursting with off-the-charts-chemistry and that they had limit her time on the show... because if they didn't, the show quickly would have moved away from Chloe and Lana. The viewers would have been demanding more of her because in just her first guest appearance she did more to move the needle for potential romance with Clark than we had seen in any six combined episodes of any other romantic interest!
Sarah Carter was so truly captivating as Alicia she had Clark in love on screen and everyone else in love with her Alicia off screen watching . I think that her perfect engaging role as Alicia was not given its true value in the show and she should have been a longer part of Clarks journey in Smallville.

OH MY GOD! but talking about acting... her character and performance were awesome! I can't see anybody else playing that part. And she was also so good in Flash!
Sarah Carter was hands down the most compelling guest star on Smallville -- and she's right, it's clear that the character was written really well.
Damn straight!
She was my favorite guest actor / character! When they brought her back, I actually screamed!!
