I won’t be surprised if a cancellation culture begins now, and all the achievements because of the 1st person are erased to smithereens, just as the achievements of the victims in this were erased. It is very sad. My ancestors at one time suffered from the actions of the former mustachioed ruler (I won’t mention the name, otherwise it’s scary to live in Russia now).

Once Upon a December fills me with sadness and nostalgia. a longing for something beautiful and magical. it's like I've lost something precious, something that I felt and had only when I was a child. it's making me think of people who are no longer there. of things that could have been said and done. it really hits hard when you think about Anastasia's tragic story. when I was a child I didn't understand why my mom didn't like the cartoon. she didn't restrict us from watching it though. when I got older, she explained that it's weird to capitalize on a true tragic events, given that there really were hoaxers saying that they're Anastasia. it was unfair to real Anastasia and even devaluating her suffering in a way. I understand now my mom's feelings, however, I see something hopeful in a make-believe stories like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Anastasia. these are pure fairy-tales of modern times inspired by injustice of the past. born of deep collective regret and a strong desire to fix it. it's like a promise to not let anything like that ever happen again. by making up stories with a happier ending we might let the victims be at piece, I guess. being as irrational as it is, at least emotionally it seems like it to me.
