I went to the spike tv video games award show back in the mid 2000s (I was 16 I think). A lot of the celebrities there didn’t want to be bothered. When Jacoby walked by I held out my hand and went “wooooot!”. He gave me a high five and asked me “How you doing dude? Enjoying the show?”
I froze and was kinda taken aback, I didn’t expect him to acknowledge me at all since most of the celebrities were pretty cold that evening.
I simply replied “i’m having a great time! Thanks for asking, I loved Getting away with murder”.
He gave me a fist bump and told me to have a great day.
I’ll never forget how chill he was and it made me appreciate them so much more just for that simple act of kindness 😂l

@@Pewpewpew182 I went with my little brother to see them at Slim's in SF some time around 2002 (?). I have to second that Jacoby is an incredibly nice guy. My brother was a huge fan and waited after the show to meet them and get autographs. These guys were exceptionally laid back and gracious. They were doing voicemails on people's phones, and even offered to re-do one which included profanity when the owner of said phone wondered out loud how his friends from church would react.
I went through a period of my life where I dated the friend of a promoter, and loaded in and out dozens of artists, none were as nice as these guys.

Just because they've toured with Static-X or Limp Bizkit doesn't bring any nu-metal vibe to their music. Lead of papa roach just fully seems like the coolest dude, even that deal where he stayed and sang with Brent Smith on a bench because festival was canceled...

Great video ❤I saw Papa Roach once in ‘98 or ‘99 at a very small club called The Cocodrie(rip) in SF(my 2nd home for almost a decade ❤)They had TONS of local support .Glad to see they are still doing their thing 🎉

Infest, The Paramour Sessions, Crooked Teeth and Egotrip are all 9/10 albums for me. Can't think of any other band that has four albums in that category tbh

I remember driving up the hill to Placerville from Sacramento county to see a show and Papa Roach was on the bill. This was a few years before they hit the big time. Placerville was a small town back then (now an overcrowded small town if that makes sense) that most people passed through on the way to South Lake Tahoe. It was an all ages show and little kids and grandmothers were there too. The music equipment tripped the power multiple times with the hall going pitch black. I remember Jacoby being super cool and engaged with the crowd including the younger kids. Very positive. Anyway I never liked the band but I respected them.

Im surprised you didnt sample single Ego Trip for the album because that is a banger.
Or that in addition to having people be featured on Papa Roach songs, Jacoby was featured on a bunch of other's songs.

I remember seeing Papa Roach at a local music festival in Sacramento in the mid-90's. They played at like 2 in the afternoon, so the audience was pretty small, maybe a few dozen people, but the band (especially Jacoby) seemed so happy for anyone that was willing to show up. At that point, they weren't exactly "good", but I still couldn't help but root for them. Obviously, they got better, but it's always seemed like that enthusiasm has stayed with them as well. I'm glad they've stood the test of time.

They have been my favorite band since 6th grade (year 2000). Not necessarily because of their music but their live performance and the few times I have gotten to meet them. They really do seem to care about their fans and will always take a moment to chat if you catch them. And as stated their live shows are some of the most energetic. You can tell they feed off the crowd and love it when they could just be getting up there to play a few singles and take your money. It’s going to suck when they do hang it up but it’s been a hell of a ride and I can’t wait to hear what comes next.

I saw Papa Roach for the first time live last year at Sick New World and for not really being a fan they put on a DAMN good show! At the end Jerry the guitar player threw a guitar pick to me and I caught it out of the air (I was on the rail at the green stage all day because was waiting for Korn).

P Roach has always been one of my favorites with Infest being in my Top 5 Albums That Changed My Life. As a fatherless child, Jacoby's words really pierced and the topics were pretty extreme for a 1st grader to be listening to and understanding. Jacoby gave his life to Christ in 2014 which is so awesome that we share the same spirituality. They are the most nu metal butt rock that isn't a nu metal butt rock band around haha

Back in the early 2000’s I kind of disregarded Papa Roach UNTIL I happened to see them live and man, I was blown away! They are INCREDIBLE live which makes me think that may have also help contribute to their longevity! I ended up becoming a fan and seeing them live a few more time after that with each performance being just as great or better than their last. I haven’t even searched for anything new by them in ages so it’s good to know they have new music out that I’ll have to give a listen to!

I've listened to Papa Roach quite a lot back in late 2000s - early 2010s, even saw them live in my (unknown to most foreigners) city in Russia. I haven't listened to them much lately and definitely slept on their releases after The Connection. This video made me want to revisit their "newer" stuff, thank you, Finn.
