FYI: those mason jars that hold tea candles also hold the volatile candles. They are great for heating up water or keeping your mug of coffee hot! Yes, the wax does melt inside the bottom, but I use that extra wax to make more candles! Cardboard Toilet Paper holders make great candle molds! I usually twist 2 cotton strings together for wicks and they are very bright!
I bought one of those cotton string mop heads to use for candles wicks. At the time, I only paid 1.00 for the mop head, but now it would only be 1.25 and you would probably have hundreds of cotton wicks from just one. Great idea on using the toilet paper holders for molds.
FYI-here in Houston,Tx…. I heard the clerk telling someone else at the store that the prices will be going up to $1.50 soon ,so it’s a really good time to stock up so may not have to go for a good while. I’m sure that’s what I’m gonna be doing on products that I buy constantly.
Thanks for the warning. $1.50 will really change our shopping trips. I've heard many DT reduced some products to $1but I've never seen that at our stores.
Don't forget that wooden, spring type clothes pins are available right now, not expensive, may not be easy to find later, I have been buying some to share with people who may not have thought of them.
I have picked some up, to hopefully use, when my husband repairs my clothesline. We have everything for it, just need the time and the weather to cooperate.
Wonderful haul! The Himalayan salt has been harder to find at the DT’s around us. I always pick up A-1 ,cherry pie filling and pineapple every time we shop. Thanks always Jinnie!
I was at my local $tree today. Bought canned fruits, matches, fish Taco seasoning, Apple juice boxes, bleach, disinfectant concentrate, chilli powder, lentils, gingerbread house kits, composition notebook to start keeping tract of my pantry inventory. Will be going to another location later in the week. Thanks for your $tree videos. I always see something you bought that I don't have and need!
Use a spray bottle of water to wet your windows, and that will hold a layer of bubble wrap. This lets light in and holds heat. Both Frank's hot sauce in Texas Pete hot sauce dehydrate beautifully.
The hot sauce being dehydrated. Canned items close to expiration date can be dehydrated as well to extend shelf life. Rain country has videos on dehydrating a lot of stuff.
I got some under the bed organizers like that but I unfortunately bought mine from Amazon and paid way more than that but they seem to be more durable I put all my extra toothbrushes floss, deodorant, and anything else I can think of that is for hygiene
The plastic shoe boxes, usually with Black lids are great to stack with labels on & toiletries or cleaning supplies in. Or they hold Packet mixes upright & tidy in your Pantry too.
I bought a couple of the under the bed blanket storage bags, filled it with blankets, went to pick it up and the one side ripped open. I was so mad, but what do expect for a $1.25? I would not put anything with any weight in them. My blankets were not that heavy, either. I wad bummed about it. 😔
Are use dental floss, just so up a lot of my outdoor things because they’re waxed so that makes them waterproof. Also when I don’t have much thread but I had to sew some clothing I use down floss works wonderful!
I have several clear shower curtains that I thought I could use to cover a door or window. They are quite a bit heavier than the drop cloth. My store is really low on food, it almost seems that they are going in another direction with their stock.
When my shower liner gets yucky, I replace it with a new one but I wash the old one (could be reused in the shower in a pinch) and save it for other things. They come clean and a few minutes on low heat in the dryer makes them soft and pliable.
I bought a clear curtain to line my bath tub to store water. I haven't tried it yet but planned on duct taping three sides using the fourth as a cover. Just a thought.
I think you could drill sm. Holes in top of jar rim, tread wire through it to make a handle for carrying or hanging!!! Love those little candle holders! Thank you for sharing your shopping tips and wonderful ideas! God bless you and your family! 💗🌷
my store does not have the jar candle holders... those are cool...those little stackable storage containers... I use for my gravy mixes and taco, chili. ranch dressing... anything in envelopes that wont stand, also the rice and sauce and noodles and sauce... I date the bb date and it allows you to put them in order of date so easier to rotate... thanks for the video... Deb from South Dakota
I also like that shelf stable milk I use for cooking, so nice it’s hard to fine. I’m gonna have to go back and stock up. Make sure the dates are long enough…
On the pepper...all of our grinders break. The part that attaches the grinder to the rim cracks and renders the grinder useless. I am sure duct tape could hold it in place. Just fyi.
Hi Jinne! I love your grocery hauls! I went to the town an hour away today for picking up our repaired car and went to the grocery store over there for the first time. I'm making chili for canning and meatballs for canning either tonight or tomorrow. I might poop out tonight. I will be canning carrots over the next few days. Plus working on canning the apples. It can't last much longer.
I keep thinking that I'm through canning for a while and then something pops up on sale! 😊 I canned meat sauce plus meatballs in broth over the weekend. Getting ready to go to the store and get a couple of rump roasts ($3.99/lb) to can. I may can a jar of stew to use up some potatoes and carrots.
@@danniemcdonald7675 that happens to me too, and I know it drives my husband crazy because he thinks that I do too much. I'm 65 and have health problems but as long as I can I'm going to can like crazy. The good deals at the grocery stores are becoming fewer and farther between. I take advantage of them when they are there though.
I’m in Clearwater, Florida and found the tea light mason jars on the bottom shelf-only a few left, so I grabbed 2.(That was 2 Saturday’s ago) The moisture absorbers work great but are hit or miss!
Im going to DT next week and im really hoping to find a lot of the things you mentioned... Ive got 3 stores locally... Might have to make a Day of it 😜😜 Thanks for sharing and for giving suggestions on other options for the uses of some of the products Jinnie 🤗🤗🙏 Kendra
Great Budget Prepper Pantry Stock Up, Jinne! I love your idea of using a paper coffee filter with a few drops of essential oils as a dryer sheet, that's one of the best uses for those paper coffee filters, I've ever heard. I appreciate all that you share! Thank you!
Thanks Jinnie. We have a Grange that makes stocking and gift boxes for seniors in nursing homes or those who don't have family and asks for donations for Christmas and I always like to go to DT to get some of the scarves and gloves and other things that they have on their wish list like candy and the puzzle books. Wish our DT carries the headlamps, I don't think they have ever carried them but I keep looking! The sewing kits aren't the best quality, so I have found a similar size empty plastic box at DT and fill them with better quality thread, needles and so forth. They're handy for college students or anyone who needs a small kit but don't have space or need for lots of sewing supplies. I used the clear plastic drop cloths to put over garden beds in the early spring, they help "cook" any weeds that come up early and also help kill the weed seeds too.
2 of our local Dollar Tree have now become DOLLAR TREE PLUS ao there is your price hike. This is SW Fla. Just starting so i havent got a good handle on it yet. Worry many of the items we see at $1.25 could go up. Lots of holiday supplies so they looked full. 😮 heads up
What a nice haul, Jinne! You always find such useful items & have great skills in sharing multiple uses of many things! Our DT stores do not have a lot of the finds at your stores. I have looked in vain for the wound care kits.... but for the fall our stores had 21 piece first aid kits in nice little tins. The tins are about 3-4" square, just over an inch deep & have a couple of gauze pads, tape & different sizes band aids. I am creating my own wound care kits by adding more tape, gauze pads & a roll of gauze, alcohol wipes, a tube of triple antibiotic & a tiny pair of scissors. I will be gifting a tin for my friends to keep in their cars. And I love the coffee filters! I use mine for drying & separating different seeds. If I am in a rush I can just write what the seeds are from on the filter, then layer several seed laden filters into the oven to dry. When finished, I just fold each filter & pop in an envelope until next planting season. Will definitely be looking for the soda can organizers. We are redoing a small bedroom into our deep food pantry. Those can organizers would make life much easier. I was going to use foamboard to make the " first in first out" can organizers, but those DT ones would get me started. And I will be looking for the men's gloves, too. Thank you again for taking the time to share. Blessings from NW Florida.
I have only been able to find 2 of those wound kits here in TX and that was probably almost a year ago, when I found them. I keep looking for them. I did purchase two of those small first aid tins and gave one to my daughter. I never thought about putting seeds in the coffee filter a great idea, as usually I am using a plate, and paper towel. I do write on paper towel what my seeds are, while they are drying and then transfer them to a bag, after they have dried. We also turned a very small room into a walk in pantry.
I haven't found the cute jar candle holders yet. They would be so cute decorated with window clings or glass stickers and a few tiny baubbles in the bottom of jar. Ponchos great idea! Hold on to them if family goes to waterparks great for log rides last time we went one parka was$ 9.00! So glad I had my DT parkas. That was 5years ago can you imagine the price now. The shelves were really sparse. Thanks for a great haul.
Not big on store canned veggies, but we do buy a little extra every month. Had a 10/$10 DelMonte sale at one store and scored some soup for $1/1 at Wal-Mart! I “exercise” by being sure to walk down most aisles (I ALWAYS shop with a list) just in case there is a hidden gem that can add to our supplies. Thanks for your videos.
Thank you, Jinne! I just went to our Dollar Tree yesterday (Monday), and I have not seen Frank's Hot Sauce there in months! But I did find a lot of the things you mentioned in your video about Christmas gifts. I'm very excited about getting all of those wrapped up!
That was really nice stuff you got there and you got a lot for 35 $ here in Sweden you don´t get that much for 35 $ it is expensive here. Thank you for sharing much appreciated.
A book I like is "Poverty Prepping: How to Stock Up for Tomorrow when you can't Afford to Eat Today" by Susan Gregersen. This is a simple personal finance budget/plan laid out. It is household money tips. She does the food budget first, small steps first, such as going to the store with a list of only needed items, should one of your items be on sale put the difference between the sales price and regular price in a "milk money" jar. (instant gratification) After a while, that savings will allow you to purchase items not on your list but it is a brand you use and it is on sale, you put this money aside too, either when you purchase or as you use the products. I got this book because I worked with low income folks, it sounded good. I also used methods close to these to get out of student debt. This is so simple, some people complain to the author. Some people have a knack for managing pers. money. This is a "in the wrist" item, you have it or you don't. Some of us were taught through the years as kids. For people who do not know, this can be a game changer. This book is 70 pages and large print.
The drop clothes can be used to line your tub to fill. During an emergency if your tub is real clean or if your drain doesn't hold tight you can line your tub and fill it with water.
I dont usually comment. But how would you use the pinapple with spam ? My son really likes spam. And would like to try to get him to eat more fruits and veggise too. I am also not the best cook, but am trying to get better at it! I enjoy your hauls! Thanks for sharing!
