      Nice, ordered. Still not happy with how the turbo shortcut works, it should be double click to turbo, then 1 click to off.

    Just ordered one for £23 in the sale, inc battery! Gotta love Sofirn prices, that's a lot of light for the money. I don't buy many lights, but this was too good to pass on, just what I need to replace my glitchy Astrolux that keeps going into beacon mode for no reason. Cheers and HNY from Blighty!

    Your seal of approval means that I'll have another sofirn light soon. No complaints there, mate. Knurling and lines on the shaft look similar to Nitecore current lights, but it looks fine. Thanks for the video!

    Not bad at all even with such a tiny throwy emitter, yet the spill is very much usable. 3535 with this high output is very good. Cant wait to see how it would be in quad-emitters setup in future SR15 model.

  • @geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz
    @geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz Місяць тому +2

    I got an SP35 recently and was fairly disappointed with it's throw, probably due to the SST instead of SFT, but this smaller SR12 seems to tackle that weakness though the SP35 does look to have more flood if that is preferred. Now wondering about this SFT25-R in an 8amp Convoy S6 5000k. I really like the Osram PM1 (W2) in the S6 with short tube that slightly outthrows my S8 with SFT 40.

    • @LeaveMasonAlone
      @LeaveMasonAlone Місяць тому +2

      The S6/S8 with SFT-25R and the 8A driver is fantastic. What a great emitter.

  • @StratmanII
    @StratmanII Місяць тому +4

    Cool torch - throwy with a good amount of spill. I've never seen a Sofirn with the SFT-25R emitter before but its greenish tint reminds me of the 6500K SST40 from the lower bins. I hope it's not my PC monitor that's exaggerating the green hues. 🔦🤔

    • @PiercingTheDarkness
      @PiercingTheDarkness  Місяць тому +5

      It is a bit green, but every SFT25-R I've seen has that on the lower end, same goes for the 5000K variant. It's not horrible though, nothing like the UHi 20's in the Nitecore EDC25, that thing was terrible. I would ignore the UI section since my white balance is matching the light box's lighting, makes any green look 10x worse.

      @@PiercingTheDarkness Thank you for the valuable response. 🙂 I only got into the flashlight hobby in April and learned about emitters as much as I could. The SFT25-R is alien to me and I've just about cut my teeth into the SBT90 LED. It so happens that I have various flashlights that use the SST20, SST40, SFT40, XHP50, XHP70, CSLPM1.F1, CSLNM1.F1, Getian GT Green, Nichia 519a and Samsung LH351D so I have a pretty good idea how their basic beam profiles are like.
      I'm not sure where Sofirn is going by using the SFT25-R instead of the usual suspects. Did they just arbitrarily pluck the SFT25-R from Luminus' catalogue or did they decide that they wanted a new model that is throwier than the SST40 but floodier than the SFT40?

    • @primonda56
      @primonda56 Місяць тому +5

      @@StratmanIII dont think SFT25 is floodier than SFT40, in fact it it the total opposite. It has smaller 3535 footprint with even smaller rounded-LES which suits a thrower very well. I think Sofirn is just simply trying to release a model to compete with Wurkkos TS10SG but with 18650 form factor to give user a longer runtime.

  • @louisarturo5625
    @louisarturo5625 Місяць тому +4

    I like it overall. Decent runtime for its size, good range from relatively small host. I hope they release a tailswitch version, just my preference.
    good review! Thank you.

    • @orhanabd1724
      @orhanabd1724 Місяць тому

      If only Sofirn would listen to us! All small edc and tactical lights should have a tailcap button. It's so much easier for the user.

    • @PiercingTheDarkness
      @PiercingTheDarkness  Місяць тому +6

      @@orhanabd1724 it's all personal preference though. I enjoy side switch only for EDC. Tactical, yes, but depends on the user for EDC. That's why a variety of models exist in different configurations.
      If every EDC had a tail switch you'd have heaps of people complaining that there's no magnetic tail 😉 they'd say "why don't they listen to us" lol

    Hey man, love your videos!
    I must have watched almost all, and some multiple times.
    Your graphs and beamshots is what I value the most!
    Which of the 3 would you say is best in terms of performance/EDC: Sofirn SR12 vs Sofirn SP31V3.0 vs Wurkkos TD05?
    Im looking for a edc/tactical flashlight with the best sustained performance and nice beam and would like to hear your oppinion.
    Cheers and thanks a lot!

    • @PiercingTheDarkness
      @PiercingTheDarkness  3 дні тому +1

      Glad you enjoy them.
      For EDC/Tactical I'd be looking at the TD05. The SP31 V3 has a charging issue where it continues to trickle charge for hours after the indicator turns green. Okay if you disconnect it soon after it turns green though. I really enjoy the TD05 best for the slightly larger hotspot and having a tail switch. The Convoy S6 with SFT25R 5000K is meant to be quite good though. Is the SR15 too large? The upcoming SK40 tactical model is the same diameter head and body, just a little longer from the tail switch. The SK40 is highly recommended, amazing light that you may want to wait for.
      I get a lot of people asking what to buy, but I don't actually use many lights outside of my videos. I still use a couple I continuously modify from 6 years ago, I have no real use for much else.

    • @Alex25CoB
      @Alex25CoB 3 дні тому

      @PiercingTheDarkness great answer, thanks a lot!
      I wasn't aware of a new sofirn sk40 model and will wait then.(Does it have instant turbo or strobe shortcuts from off maybe?)
      Would you say it's better than the td05 then? I would enjoy a 18650 for pocket-carry though - so in that mind is the td05 the best Budget light for light tactical use you can recommend? 🙏

    • @Alex25CoB
      @Alex25CoB 3 дні тому

      @@PiercingTheDarkness hey man, thanks for the sk40 recommendation, I will wait for it. I think it looks really like, spec and Output Wiese.
      Another question (I am new to the flashlight hobby):
      Is it okay for the springs inside the flashlight to leave the batteries installed?
      Will they wear out over time or compress too much?
      I have 2 acebeams (l35.2 and e75) and the springs are already too compressed for normal flat top 21700 molicels to work reliably., so I am a bit worried (they come with long button tops,.protected...)

    Hello, Friend!
    May I know your TOP 5 headlamps. I don't look at expensive lamps.
    I want one with
    1. Good low beam warm 4000-5000K light,
    2. Stabilization
    3. I accept a red diode
    4. 18650 battery
    5. Long operation in medium mode without a drop in Lm
    6. Memory of the last mode when turned off
    7. Convenient control of light modes.
    8. Simultaneous operation of two diodes, low and high.
    I'm looking at Sofirn hs21, Sofirn hs20 I hope for your help in choosing a flashlight.
    Best regards

      TD05 has an SFT40 emitter... regarding the same emitter the current Wurkkos TS12 has an SFT25R emitter and a smaller form factor of the 14500 LiIon battery... And it has still an side switch.
