When I watch this guy, I like to pretend he's my accountant and we're just chatting, after going over my taxes, and it's the end of the day, and after the video, we go for a drink.
There are psychology studies that parallel this point. Once volunteer workers became payed workers, they no longer enjoyed working for free, even if they did so initially. What essentially happened is that the intrinsically motivated action was linked to an external reward therefore becoming extrinsically motivated. This also goes for parenting children. When you see that a child loves to draw, and you give them a cookie every time they draw, they will eventually only want to draw if a cookie will be provided, and once the reward is taken away, they will no longer love to draw. There are hobbies that I protect by not pursuing them professionally. I would come to hate them if my financial stability depended on them. I chose my profession on the grounds that I would not be entrusted with these tasks unless I got licensed. I love my job and do my best to focus on the intrinsic values I can realize with it rather than the money it affords me.
"The greatest consequence of doing something good is that we lived up to our potential". This goes right into my journal as a prompt for today. Thank you!

In today's world, selflessness seems to be driven by the desire for likes, comments, and shares. However, there are still some individuals who dedicate their entire lives to helping others without any expectations in return. These rare kind-hearted souls experience a level of happiness that is immeasurable. Let us all strive to follow the path of kindness and treat ourselves and others with respect and compassion.
"The more honest you become, that's how happy you'll be and you will have complete control over your own happiness in that way." "True selflessness comes from true selfishness because everything we do, we're really not doing it for other people, we're doing it for ourselves."
I've found this to be true in spiritual development. We descend into the darkest parts of ourself to climb to the highest and this fluctuation is what causes our soul to grow as the duality creates expansion and the ability to rise to the highest possible vibration while still understanding the other side of the coin brings ascension.
Off topic, my mother always wanted a son but she has 3 daughters instead. This guy is like my older brother to me sharing wisdom after work 😅 Thanks and I love your warm voice
The Bible often speaks of God’s care for those who are weak, poor, and in need, and of how he blesses those who share this concern. God wants our generosity to reflect his own free giving. As he has blessed us, we should bless others. Psalm 41:1 Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor! The LORD rescues them when they are in trouble.
This is a great reminder to be kind to ourselves, to know that the good that we do, no matter the motivation that pushes us towards it, is enough. Thanks ❤
You’re so right. I’m currently writing a book because when I was younger, I went through hell for two years mentally. Fortunately, now that I’ve healed, I want to share how I got through it with the world purely for the sake of helping people, not for anything in return. But for a while, I started thinking about how writing a book would “elevate my status” 🙄. I got into writers block for a whole year until I overcame my egoistic thoughts. Lol sorry for the long comment. Thanks for the video.
Thank you! I was thinking about being of use to others just today! Selfish , yes, but not in an egotistical way.As I grow older, being of use to any cause, is one luxury I afford myself.

How to deal with people who have no sense of genuineness? Some people who agree to cooperate and take up work and never get it done.... When you be nice to them and they eventually start taking things for granted. These people are everywhere, they dont account for their actions and promises. This is truly very authentic & inspiring. Thank you so much for explaining in a way that makes perfect sense. So glad to have stumbled upon your channel.
Performing actions without attachment to outcomes is the fundamental principle of Karma Yoga, one of the four paths of Yoga in Advaita Vedanta, an ancient philosophy. This principle constitutes the central teaching of the Bhagavad Gita, arguably the most impactful book I have ever encountered. In it, Krishna, an avatar of the Lord, instructs the warrior Arjuna, representing each of us, on how to navigate life. He distills the principles of non-attachment and the path to enlightenment.
This is beautiful, thank you so much. Thank you for creating videos and really spelling these things out in a gentle and understandable way. This is such important work... It will trigger a lot of people, a lot of what you speak of (not just this video), but it's so so important that this information gets out there. Just... yeah, thank you for expressing these things, truly. It is just beautiful.
Thank you for sharing this! This reminds me of something i wrote that a while ago "the selfishness that divides but actually is there to unite the division we see it create but the greater unison that it actually does create do you not see loving another as a part of you loving the other part of you that's separate from you but isn't it from you? do you not see the hurt of another hurting outside but also hurting inside of you why do we see it as a favour when we help or love another but not see it as a favour to ourselves. your hurt is mine your hunger is mine your emptiness is mine cause in our separateness there is longing to heal our divided parts but man fails to love another for the sake of love.."
I respectfully disagree. It's like a paradox. If you truly want something, you need to let go of the expectations of receiving it. Trying to control how you want something, forcing something, is not going to get you anywhere. You need to go with the flow. Not against it. You need to swim with the current not against it. Taoists call it Wu Wei. Effortless action. In this instance, if you want to be selfless, you need to be selfish. You need to put yourself first in life. You will then have more compassion for others because you can fully feel comfortable in who you really are. Being selfish doesn't mean push people out of the way to be first in line. Being selfish is putting your emotional needs, physical needs, mental needs first. If you don't want to do something for someone, you're not forced to do so. That is what selfishness is. It's about putting yourself first and not being told what to do or being forced what to do.

People nowadays get in to a relationship with the expectation that their partner will 'heal' them. This is why dating and relationships are at an all time low. People need to learn how to take care of themselves first and that takes a certain level of selfishness. Be selfish until you are physically and mentally healthy, then you can take care of others.
Wow. Your statements are so simple, yet so profound. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting this content. I was feeling lost, but now I realize it was because I was desiring material things or wanting people’s praise in my life. No more.
Maybe unrelated, but life is a sacrifice, from a worm sacrificing itself to a bird, or a mother to her child, even grass sacrificing to a cow (and that cow to us). Endless sacrifices everywhere. It's almost a metaphysical contract that we all signed, an offering of our love to each other . At first I thought it's a sad concept but it's actually beautiful. I had the opportunity to sacrifice recently and it brought me closer to myself. It was actually way more of an honor and privilege to me rather than a burden or a favor. I don't know how to explain it. It's the first time I ever felt that way. Like I truly believe that I received so much more in return than the other person could ever imagine.
True, if you can take a proper care of yourself, you can at least guide, share or help others and not use that social structure of overbearing others with your issues, on point
I am most attuned to needs of others, when I am truly attuned to my own wants and needs. I am also in my kindest, when I am first and foremost kind to myself. I would expand on Kant's perspective to treat people and actions not as means to an end, but as ends in themselves. By doing so, in combination with your idea of "doing unto others as we would like to be treated," we can build better relationships and become more selfless and genuine human beings.

It's really interesting to me as a Muslim , to us Islam is not a religion It's a way of life and , this is truly what the Islam teaches us in It's core to have these morals and work towards them not for material or social approval , but to get closer to God ❤ .. I’m always so glad I give your videos a chance. Amazing and useful wisdom distilled so well into a short time frame. Usually, I expect to have to read several books to finally come across a great one to make me feel this way. Thank you!
The idea that true selflessness can only arise from selfishness (wanting to appear like a selfless person) assumes that one lives to seek validation which is not only unhealthy but not necessarily true. And I'd argue that true selflessness is not attained as one is doing work for others but for themselves, only the illusion of true selflessness is attained. A person who is at peace with themselves and do not need external validation would contribute to the world because that gives them meaning in life.

Well to be selfless, I think you've to achieve a level where you're not bothered by any change. It's a long journey and it's exhausting too, as a human we need a little appreciation for whatever we do, it motivates us to become more good. I don't think it applies to what you're saying, when you're giving your all without expecting anything that means you've reached a higher spiritual end. A normal human will become frustrated if they don't get anything in return(nothing materialistic). As someone who's empathetic and gets too much involved in helping others I find people start taking you for granted and also they fail to see your uniqueness. It hurts, as a human we need something in return. This world is cruel, you give and it will take everything without caring about your feelings and well being. You've only you to take care of yourself and for that you've to be a little selfish or else you'll be dead with people misery and believe me they won't even remember you and will find somebody else to be their messiah!
" If you are not selfish you will not be altruistic, remember. If you are not selfish you will not be unselfish, remember. Only a very deeply selfish person can be unselfish. But this has to be understood because it looks like a paradox. What is the meaning of being selfish? The first basic thing is to be self-centered. The second basic thing is always to look for one’s blissfulness. If you are self-centered, you will be selfish whatsoever you do. You may go and serve people but you will do it only because you enjoy it, because you love doing it, you feel happy and blissful doing it-you feel yourself doing it. You are not doing any duty; you are not serving humanity. You are not a great martyr; you are not sacrificing. These are all nonsensical terms. You are simply being happy in your own way-it feels good to you. You go to the hospital and serve the ill people there, or you go to the poor and serve them, but you love it. It is how you grow. Deep down you feel blissful and silent, happy about yourself."

This is so so beautiful and something I needed to be reminded of. Thank you!
Thank you. I’m going to start studying English again, I’m grateful that I can listen to such a good topic🙏

It is true communing with oneself from the desire of authenticity and sincerity is virtuous, yet I keep wandering toward the euphemism "that no man is an island" -
