  • MoCA adapters can be cheap, and serve a great purpose. What what problem are we trying to solve here? Why not just use WIFI to get internet access spread across your home?

    Thanks for stating the purpose of a moca. A lot of people here on UA-cam do not state purpose of moca and therefore lose people on the bigger picture.. Thank you.

    Thanks for this video! I also have a place in my basement where all the coax cables come together in a single point. However, my Internet router/modem is far away from this point, and it is upstairs, but still near a coax outlet. If I start my MoCA upstairs by my modem, can it still reach every other coax outlet in the house? Thanks in advance!

    I am adding a new faster (going from 1 Mbps to 25....yippeee!!) internet service in a rural area with a dish and line of sight technology by the ISP. I have a new home with 4 coax cables ran to my dish location. I am only using one for the DirecTV. Do I even need MOCA at all if my coax line coming into my hub is dedicated to the ISP? Is there an adaptor that would just convert the coax to ethernet at the router? The router they support does not have a coax connection. Thanks for the great info!!

    My ONT sends signal to my router from the one ethernet jack I have in the house. I want to use a moCA from the router to the coaxial outlet. Then set up another moCa adapter in an upstairs room. Will these adapters allow the internet to be passed through the coaxial network? I thought I had to do something about the network of coax cables outside. I'm worried this isn't going to work.

    My internet comes in on a coax line and plugs directly into the back of my gateway modem. I'm assuming that there is a filter on the ingress point. From this I guess my modem simply "repeats" the Ethernet data back out to the house. There's a cable run in each room of the house that is still active and we plug those into Comcast boxes to get TV, but I believe this is streamed TV, and not traditional cable. This means that if I just turn MoCA on in my modem settings I can plug up an adapter anywhere? I shouldn't have to worry about collision slowdowns if the bandwidth already supports 10gig speeds?

    If I have internet service and cable, yet only using cable for the main family rooms, but having the set up of coaxial cables already in each individual room will I be able to make use of the moca device or will cable need to be turned onto each individual room as well? Thank you for your time and sorry for the confusing question worded oddly.

      You can think of MoCA as ethernet via coaxial cable with cabletv frequency interference prevention so that it can co-exist with cabletv. If you do not turn on cableTV, the coaxial cable is used by a pair of moca adaptors to communicate. In real world installation, you need to take care of the coaxial cable topology so that proper poe device and splitters if required are properly installed.

    So Cox's Panoramic modem/router combo is MoCA enabled but "ONLY" for their TV streaming service.....which is some bull crap.

    So essentially, if I have coaxial outlets in my home. One is being used upstairs for my modem and router. I want to have a hard wire Ethernet downstairs. Again, there is a coaxial outlet downstairs. How essentially can I set this up? What do I need in order to get that connection downstairs

      @@yamiyugi9654 you need to make sure there is a bridge between your coaxial outlets before this will work for you. It’d be easier to get someone to help you test or someone with more info on the hardware of a MOCA. It’d be easier to get those wifi extenders that work by using your power now.

    I bought a PowerLine 600 TP-LINK and regretted. I Discovered that the powerline pass through a hub, it makes the connection go only 40mbps.
    Studiyng now these MOCA adapters. Hope it works.

    So, if I understand what you said near the end, if I have a dedicated coax cable run to each room, MoCA isn't going to be very helpful as I would have to have a MoCA adapter pair for each cable. That sounds like it would be expensive. Is that correct?

    • @thedoghouse825
      @thedoghouse825  3 роки тому +2

      Ahh, good question! Actually no, what you can do in your situation is in the basement, where all the cables come together, connect them together with a 'splitter'. Despite the name, splitters can be used 'backwards', allowing you to COMBINE multiple cables into one. So connect one MOCA adapter in the basement to the splitter's 'in' port, and connect all the cables feeding rooms you want to put a MOCA adapter into to the 'splitter'. You should be good to go!

      @@thedoghouse825 Thanks for the explanation. But that only seems to solve part of the problem (at the basement end). In each room, I have a wall plate with a coax connector. I can't connect my PC (or printer or whatever) to the coax wall plate. I think I need something in each room that has a coax connector on one end and an ethernet connection on the other. Is that another MoCA adapter or something else?

      @@angelocorridori6993 Ahh, understood, sorry. Yes, for every room where you have a cable jack, and want to connect a computer, and don't have a run of ethernet cable, you'll need a MOCA adapter.

    Everything i have read on moca, says don't use if you have Direct TV or other dish services. Works as you state for cable, but not dish services "The current MoCA cable products only work with cable TV, FiOS or off-air TV services. This is because the frequency band which the current MoCA products use, 850-1550 MHz will interfere with satellite TV signals (but don't interfere with cable or off-air signals)."

    • @tadghb

      Also direct tv uses moca for their products

    • @HappyJ
      @HappyJ Рік тому +1

      @@tadghb Not what I have read. It depends which directtv system you are using. If you are using the newer one wire system where you run multiple receivers on the same wire and just use a special splitter. That one and MoCA do not work at all together. The way directtv makes this work is they divide the bandwidth into chucks and each receiver and the LNB on the dish negotiate which chunks of bandwidth they are going to use. Directtv assumes it can use all of it ..I think it can run 8 receivers. Needless to say this is very similar to what moca is doing and they stomp all over each other."

    Hi. What if I have the Coaxial connection that brings internet to the House, but I don't have any other coax port in the wall near to send the Internet to the rest of the house? Should I have to wire anyways from the Router to the nearest coax port in the wall in order to send the internet to the rest o the house? I found this video, does make sense the first part? to send the internet through the same coax cable where I receive the Internet service? ua-cam.com/video/tUsxzKWsTl4/v-deo.html Thank you
