🍎 THANK YOU DGR FOR INCREDIBLE SUPPORT IN THE STREETS OF NYC, we’ll be BACK!! ONWARD AND UPWARDBTO NEW HEIGHTS! #doorknob PS - let’s move this vlog around the world, maybe someone needs to know TODAY that quitting is not an option!
As I said above, Seth, I think the Inspirational point here is while records and elite status are something special and a priveledge, something to work towards, most importantly, running is for the mind, soul, spirit, and our body and minds fitness. Not just records. It's the love of the sport, or anything we do, and its connection to our soul and spirit, as seen here with you in how well you shine, thats we always have to remember. 👍🙏
Man, meeting you at the end of the race was the perfect ending! Your attitude and positivity is uncontested, Seth. Thanks so much for capturing that moment! ❤️ And congrats on fighting to the end to get that medal!!
HE'S HUMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 years I'm watching your vlogs every day, 2 years I was asking myself the same question, and finally I have an answer: HE'S HUMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As an auto racing friend of mine once said, "If you don't crash every once in a while you ain't racing." Sometimes things go south it's all about what you do at those times that matter. Seth finished and showed a great attitude. I am sure there are private feelings he has about this and he will work through them but he showed some leadership with how he handled it for us and he did the work. Fantastic work and I love being on this journey.
Last month I ran my first major marathon in Chicago. Shooting for a 3:05, I had a disappointing 3:48. I appreciate you holding your head high because it was hard for me to. You keep me motivated, so thank you and much love
I was shooting for sub 4 in Chicago and had a stomach issue just like Seth's and finished at a 4:38. I knew I still had sub for in me and signed up for Indianapolis and got a 15 min PR at 3:58:41. I definitely wasn't as positive as Seth was initially but got there about a day or two later. Love seeing how positive he stayed, he is an inspiration for sure
I was there too,it was hot day a lot of people were not reaching up their goal. I was lucky for my first marathon ,bc heat isn’t bothering me as others,3:45
Seth, I hope the fact your struggles made a lot of us sad makes you feel proud. The beauty and kindness you spread daily makes us all better people. And more importantly your courage to finish and have an amazing attitude is what inspires us all. Because we all have our ups and downs.
Wow, what a PIVOT! This looked a lot more like relishing than suffering. What a great example to see. Could have been sooooo easy to mope, isolate, be a downer after months of consistent focus. DGR BABY! Thank you thank you and thank you again. Onward and Upward in everything we do!
Agreed! I liked he was giving shout outs along the way. I mean, once the wheels come off, the goal is off the table, so why not just change it for the better and enjoy the run; make the best of it! One just has to realize that some days are unexpected lessons and that better days will come.
Thanks for hanging out with us at Magnolia Bakery, Seth! Said already but worth saying again: you and your amazing wife are such great role models. New York City loves you, supports you, and we'll be cheering loudly for you when you're back!
This touched me for reasons that have nothing to do with running…I really need the message Seth shared today. Inspired by Seth and the DGR community. Well done, Seth!
Seth, you are one of the most positive people I have ever known! Unbelievable, how you are taking positive lessons out of every moment, even when you must be disappointed (and maybe are still feeling sick). What an inspiration! 💪
After all you’ve given and contributed to the run community it’s super to see how the community gave back to you on your tough day. Way to keep your head up and moving forward!
This one brought me to tears. The music, the filming, but most of all seeing you just being a human being with a beautiful soul. You touch a lot of peoples hearts. My dad you to say “love you” and point to the person,. You reminded me of that today. That’s what your vlogs do. Reminding us that life is hard and we’re all in this together! Go get the next one Seth!!!
I got emotional both videos, even though we have not met. To see you struggling was difficult. Yet you remained positive and learned from it. Thanks for being you!!
I remember so well my first marathon. Was crying running towards the finish line. I hit the wall at Km32. Pushed through. This video brought me to tears. I haven't done any marathon or half marys in 2 years eversince I moved here to the US. Looking for that mojo to be back. Fingers Crossed! I guess I'll start turning the doorknob soon!
Seth is always saying it’s a two-way street. Today’s vlog and these comments (!) are proof. What an inspiring, heart-warming, motivating, peace-giving vlog. And then the comments are getting me as much as the vlog. Thank you DGR! Thank you Seth! Onward & Upward.
Wow, I'm filled with emotions right now. The pain is real! I also ran a race, my first 50k. Bad belly and an injury made my goals fade away. I felt your pain! Thank you for being so real with us. Being able to relate to each other makes us stronger. Hugs, we are proud of you!
It's interesting how things change over the years. No one could fail to be impressed with Seth's relentless positivity after his bad day. But when I first started running in the 70's, an experienced marathon and ultra runner told me not to be too bothered about dropping out if you started to suffer. That way you could try again the next week or next month without affecting your health negatively. No medals for marathon finishing in those days 😃 Maybe a certificate if you got under the Road Runners Club standard time !
I love that your not a quitter....the temptation must've been huge. Thank you for you including us in the journey. This is not a failure, but a triumph 🙌
Seth a marathon can be both exhilarating and humbling. So much planning and preparation that goes into it. Once I ran a half marathon with the effects of bronchitis and still I finished. The marathon is just a different animal. The best thing about running there’s always the next race.
I've followed you for the last 3 years and loved watching you win the last 2 Pikes Peak marathons but your effort for the NYC marathon was inspirational. I'm 70 and ran my first marathon for nearly 30 yrs 3 weeks ago - the Yorkshire Marathon in Great Britain - my aim was to get a qualifying time for the London marathon. With 25 miles gone I was over 2.5 mins in hand with a long drag up an incline (hill), put my head down and dug in to top of incline (hill) at 25.7 with a turn to the finish. I'd upped the pace turned the corner and bang it hit me, it was as if a switch had been turned on in my head, that last half mile cost me 4mins. I was falling into the barriers, staggering across the road, nothing I could do. So grateful for the help from the two pacemakers who I'd run with from the start and who came back to help. I missed the time by 1 min but I'm out there training for the next one, that is if the wife will let me as I am currently banned from marathons, well at least for this year. As you say quitting is not an option. "PAIN IS TEMPORARY BUT VICTORY IS FOREVER"
Great story, and thanks so much for sharing. Read this out loud to my husband, and I have to tell you we both burst into laughter at "if the wife will let me as I am currently banned from marathons." Hahaha! We get it! We hope it's just a temporary ban, and may you have better luck next time!!! : )
I've now run 11 marathons, even when you run a great race that last 5 miles is soo soo tough. Way to push through! "Those who do not understand true pain, cannot understand true peace."
Felt like I was watching a movie. Such a great production and almost brought me to tears. I didn’t meet my main marathon goal a few weeks ago but kept going, achieving my other goal of just finishing! Was inspiring to see an elite runner not quit. We should still manage to seek beauty (whatever the pace). Onward and upward. DGR strong!!
Your ability to inspire so many people, even when you were facing unexpected obstacles, is amazing. You could have called it a day and no one would have thought any less of you; however, you had the attitude and fortitude to seek beauty, enjoy the day, relish the crowd and finish the race. While the race may not have gone as planned, we (the viewers) probably gained more from this life lesson than if you had met your goals. Thank you.
I was running my Monday 5k on the treadmill yesterday and really wanted to tell myself that two miles would be plenty, I don't need to run the whole thing. I started thinking about your race and your attitude and just told myself to finish strong. Finished the 5k, 8:30 pace. I'm a 200 pound weightlifter/fat guy who started running about 5 months ago and as much as I hate running, I can't live without it now...
WOW Seth your positivity and outlook lifts us all to a better place. Mark my words many great things are destined for you Seth and each one so richly deserved. MUCH RESPECT TO YOU
You had me in tears this morning. This was one of my favorite videos Seth. It was great to share your experience and I loved the post race interaction and your positive attitude. Thank you!
I think the Inspirational point here is while records and elite status are something special and a priveledge, something to work towards, most importantly, running is for the mind, soul, spirit, and our body and minds fitness. Not just records. It's the love of the sport, or anything we do, and its connection to our soul and spirit, as seen here with Seth in how he shines, that we always have to remember. 👍🙏
I went through the same thing you did during the race...silly stomach issues kept me from getting any nutrition to my body as it said, “nothing shall pass.” Run/Walking wasn’t working to settle my stomach either…I eventually had walk an entire mile before starting the run walk again. Once I overcame this issue, I was able to finish the race with the same targeted pace that I wanted to run throughout. I’m going to have to play with the nutrition again. (Sorry I didn't make the group run.)
That's my man. Finish that race no mater what. People forget the real A-goal which is as always : finish the race as fast as you can, but most importantly finish it!! Great job Seth im so proud of you.
Eyyy I made the vlog!!! I was on the screen after you finished! Sorry to to see your GI issues but great that you were able to finish. I got a PR myself at 3:17:26 and super happy about it. Next up sub 3 hour!!!
So happy for you! You kept going and thats fantastic 👏 I LOVED running, I have 3 spinal diseases that unfortunately are degenerative and my Dr has convinced me of the damage each landing stride is doing to my discs and facets. I miss it tremendously. I still speed walk but I desperately miss the feeling of a great run.
A group of us were watching your progress on a the Run Experience live stream. We figured out pretty quickly that it was GI issues, and while I was sad for what you were going through and the disappointment you must have been feeling after all your hard work preparing, I knew an exceptional video would come from it that would help so many people. This was a Masterclass in making lemonade out of lemons. Congrats on finishing NYC under such adversity!
A Great movie trilogy: the first one gives us the hope and excitement, the second ends with a twist, and the third leads us to the biggest victory! 2022, 2023 or later~ We will wait for this one "The return of Seth to NYCM"
Seth, in 2015 I ran the Monumental Marathon in Indianapolis. I hoped to run a time in the low 3 hours, but the wheels fully came off at mile 18 and ended up going much slower, 3:45. After this, I struggled to maintain consistent training for many years. I always wanted to train more, but kept falling off for extended periods. The worst phase of this came during peak quarantine in 2020. But in 2021, using much of your advice and training philosophy, I began my redemption arc for the Monumental Marathon. For the last 6 months, I consistently trained and reclaimed my love for distance running. This Saturday, the training culminated as I raced through the streets of Indy again. I ran even splits the whole race, and crossed the line in 3:05:11, a personal best! It was such a powerful feeling of validation and achievement. I know you have nothing to prove, but man, I really hope 2022 is the year of the Demoor NYC Marathon Redemption Arc. I’m picturing you crossing the line in Central Park under 2:20:00, and I feel that same sense of validation! I cant wait to see what’s next for you! There’s only one way to go from here, onward and upward!
This was such a great story: thank you for taking the time to share it! Loved the redemptive arc bit! I especially appreciated it because I have run only one marathon, in 2018, and had such a disappointment that it really derailed my running for about a year. Thanks for sharing your similar experience. I love that eventually you came back and were triumphant! Great job, and thanks for the encouragement. It's good to have hope.
Having a stomach issues after a race is so tough. I’ve had races where I can’t keep my head up at the Finnish. Well done for fighting through not only the race but also the post race when all you want is a ginger ale and peace and quiet
You're amazing, Seth. I don't know how much of your positive, outgoing, energetic personality on camera during and after a failed performance like that might have been putting on a happy face for the benefit of the "DGR family" and your UA-cam channel, but it seems genuine. I, on the other hand, have never failed miserably in a race where I expected to do great things and then been able to be positive about it. My first reaction has always been, dammit, body, why did you fail me after all that hard work? Then I've been down in the dumps for at least a couple of days. I'm the same way about injuries and poor training performances, too. Now, seeing you fail badly and apparently just brush it off with a smile and an "I'll be back," I realize that even at 60 years of age I have a lot to learn from you, young man. Thanks for the lesson.
Seth, you had me in tears watching the love pour to you and from you during the end. The FAMILY you've created with the help of DGR is inspiring. Good on you, Sir!
You are an inspiration Seth. Such kindness and brilliance. It brought me to tears too. Like others I really needed to see and hear your message. Can’t thank you enough for everything you do for the world. Bless you … a million times over.
Seth!! Way to push through when it got unbearable!! This was my first marathon and my legs started cramping at mile 16 but I just ran through the pain! Hit my B goal of sub 4 hours @ 3:45:32 🙌🏻🎉 DGR Strong baby!!
Loving the honest blog, great inspiration as always. Great piece of advice I received many years ago after a disappointing race. My coach told me not to be disappointed, it’s only running and we learn more from 1 bad day than 10 good days.
I can feel you Seth… Although I’ve run hundreds of Half Marathons I have never ran a Full Marathon because of stomach issues when fueling. I discovered that I was Gluten intolerant and too much gluten before a race was upsetting my GI and then when I was fueling in race always hell broke (if you are gluten intolerant the walls in your GI track thinner and become irritable). Now I’ve cut gluten completely and I will be running my first one next month! Hopefully I will manage to finish one! You are our daily inspiration! Keep on buttering that (gluten free) bread 😂
Seth, last month I ran my first half marathon race. I had calf issues and finished in 2:08. My PB prior in training was 1:46:56 so I was so disappointed but I finished. Nov 7th I ran my second race. Finished 1:41:46 a PB by 5 min. Keep turning that door knob brother.
So many phenomenal endurance athletes have been derailed by the dreaded GI demon. What's so remarkable was you showed a warrior spirit and found a way to cross the finish line when so many would have walked off the course. Such great physical toughness. We can only focus on what we control, and sometimes these things happen and are outside our control. There is little point dwelling upon it. We can only control how we approach the next one. Also...you still ran 26.2 faster than 90% of human beings can...on their best day.
Way to embrace the moment as it was. Ain't no bad run! I just did the Disney World 13.1 and after 3 days of carrying kids through the park, I knew in the first mile I wasn't going to perform. BUT I just kept moving forward and enjoyed every minute of an incredible experience.
Never give up! The best ! Not only you're a fabulous runner, you're also a great movie maker! With your channel, my life is better each day. Thanks a lot man and nerver stop please ! ...and now : i go running!
I enjoy the training tips, planning training blocks and the family experience but the last few days have reminded me why I started watching your channel. It is so full of the positivity we all need. Everyone fails but it is how we deal with that failure and what we do next which defines us. When I started watching a couple of years ago it was dealing with injury and now target race disappointment. Both were faced with the positivity and determination we all expect from you. On reflection I’m sure you will look at that medal more than most in your collection as you had to overcome a very difficult situation to get it.
Loved how you kept such a positive attitude - even during what must have been a really tough moment knowing your stomach issues scuppered your chances of attaining your goals, yet you kept going and still had a smile on your face at the end! Pretty inspiring stuff. There is definitely a lesson to be learned from this for me personally! Keep inspiring!
Making goal is tough but dealing with discouragement is even tougher. You are a true champion Seth of the mind, body, and spirit. As you told me on the livestream, "I look at the big picture."
Really impressive and inspiring. With all the achievements you have had over the last few years, this is the most impressive. Grit to not only finish strong, but enjoying it. That's real strength, and something to inspire people.
The positivity is this video is incredible! Love it! You helped me do my first marathon in 2:54 a few weeks ago. You're an inspiration to us all, hope that you know that!
Bro mad respect for putting up this video. You have had such a remarkable running career and work extremely hard. We all have races less than expected and for someone of your caliber/skill set to show this shows tons of class. A lot of pros would just go on to forget this and only show their “best races”. When I ran Boston i saw pros in the drop out tent and they lost my respect. You Sir toughed it out to the end, you Sir are truly a class act and that medal is well deserved. God bless you and in reality the things people cherish most are the things they suffer through the most. This also shows that no matter how tough things get, whether in life or in running, just keep going and grind it out. Plus your attitude is fantastic. Once again mad respect bro.
I'd recently heard that many pros, if not meeting their goals, drop. I found that so disappointing... I understand dialing it back and treating it like a training run, or dropping for injuries/GI issues, or because they've decided to give it a go at another race in a week, but quitting because they're having a "bad day" seems like such a primadonna thing to do.
@@Kelly_Ben yea because at first I had heard some might have dropped due to injury, but then I had learned not all are like that, they drop because of having a bad day. And especially if you’re a pro, what kind of message does that send. It sends that if things get tough, give up. That’s why I have so much respect for Seth for toughing it out and even putting the video up. It takes guts and humility to do that. So that why he has my utmost respect in the running community. Plus his attitude is phenomenal after his race. Normally I am Mr Poopy Pants after a less than optimal race so I have taken that to heart to have an awesome attitude not matter what the outcome. See this is awesome and God is awesome because even from this not great race it has turned into something great that will help prevent me from sinning (vice of anger), so once again many thanks to Seth for this.
I love this channel mainly because is not about running and success but because is about life and discipline. You are able to inspire me even when you have a bad day. And by the way … you editing skills reached a new level. I loved every single shot of this vlog. Fantastic work Seth! We keep going all together!
I appreciate your efforts and everything you do to inspire people. I was ready for a marathon in 2020, the race was rescheduled and I here I am completely out of shape and I won't be doing the race. Only thing to do is get back out there and run.. Thanks Seth
What a video! You made me get a little emotional. I love the energy, the worldwide community of being a runner, and the perspective. It's what it is all about!!!
Someone who video broadcasts his everyday life to the entire world in very personal detail is anything but "super humble". That's not how human psychology works.
It's amazing that you were able to maintain such a positive attitude after having things not go your way. I can't say I would have handled it quite so well.
Just found your channel and this series is the realest seen in a long time! Shout out for showing that ‘bad’ races happen; it’s how you react and respond, the positivity shown is beyond inspiring. New sub from the UK, keep doing you Seth!
Finishing a marathon with the issues you were dealing with is incredible. And it was so great to meet you and to be a part of this vlog in a small way at Magnolia Bakery! You keep vlogging and I’ll keep watching!! See you tomorrow!
Probably in the top 5 vlogs that i've seen you make. So honest and so positive in the face of what, i'm sure at the time, was the worst feeling in the world. I've loved the style with a mix of training videos, the beauty of NYC and the race itself over the past couple of days. Onwards!
🍎 THANK YOU DGR FOR INCREDIBLE SUPPORT IN THE STREETS OF NYC, we’ll be BACK!! ONWARD AND UPWARDBTO NEW HEIGHTS! #doorknob
PS - let’s move this vlog around the world, maybe someone needs to know TODAY that quitting is not an option!
I'm looking forward to watching this vlog. Good morning Seth!!! 🌅
Regardless of the outcome, you have triumphed. Support from your DGR Family. Island VYBEZ Alwayz

How you handled this adversity is exactly why I watch this channel. True model of success right here!

I agree, it was moving for me as well. What heart and soul. Shows theres more to running and our passions than the records, but the love of it all.
I got emotional both videos, even though we have not met. To see you struggling was difficult.
Yet you remained positive and learned from it.
Thanks for being you!!
We've got this Brian!

Man, the running community is just awesome. All of this support from random people he's never even met. Kudos to all of the supporters.
That medal is everything. Run, walk or crawl to the finish line. Get the medal!🏅✨🎉
I love that your not a quitter....the temptation must've been huge. Thank you for you including us in the journey. This is not a failure, but a triumph 🙌
Everything in here was so true about NYC this year. The crowd support and runner support, nobody would let a single person quit for anything.
Right CHRISTIAN!!

Who else just sits down and watches these videos and smiles the entire way through? Wonderful feeling DGR strong 💪🏾
Boy watching this makes me realize what an incredible athlete you are. Mentally, physically and emotionally!
At the end of the day Seth’s success can only be measured in the community he has created. Amazing! That’s just sooo inspiring!
Omg the editing of the race is a true window into the mindset of a runner
I was running my Monday 5k on the treadmill yesterday and really wanted to tell myself that two miles would be plenty, I don't need to run the whole thing. I started thinking about your race and your attitude and just told myself to finish strong. Finished the 5k, 8:30 pace. I'm a 200 pound weightlifter/fat guy who started running about 5 months ago and as much as I hate running, I can't live without it now...
thats cool - go on!🏃♂️🔥 greets from berlin/germany...from another michael😉
Awesome story! Keep up the good work! : )
Oh man you can feel the energy here!
Just wild Janet, stronger together.
After years of watching you seth, your are a gladiator bro. Im touched and happy to see you tomorrow. 👍🏻❤️🇵🇷
Spotted you at 4:57!! Congrats Sergej!
Gratulation und Grüße aus Berlin
You're famous! Hahaha! Way to go! And great PR too!!! : )
Great vid!
Great inspiration Seth!! NO QUITTING IN our FAMILY!
That's right!
Nothing has changed. Keep turning the doorknob!
I will always cherish my running of NYC marathon 2018 bought back many good memories
Comeback time, comeback, pace training, stomach training, learn and move on! 🙏
Seth, you had me in tears watching the love pour to you and from you during the end. The FAMILY you've created with the help of DGR is inspiring. Good on you, Sir!
Gah... this comment hit me right in the feels.
You are a god dam LEGEND , you have the attitude that if most people adopted the world would be a better place
Anything is possible with the right attitude. It was great meeting you!
Love what you do Seth, the positivity and love you put out there is unmatched
Fascinating personality Mr. DeMoor. What is incontrovertible is his passion and proficiency for video-making.
Congrats Seth!! Completely the runs when we are up against it are the our toughest days of all!!
Thanks for being a positive influence and motivator out there.
Regardless of outcome, you still won
These last 2 vlogs have been also amazing as well, your content is 2nd to none Seth!!
DGR STRONG
Thank you for being here Scott, thank you
Zero regret from Seth is great to see keeping that head strong when things don't go to plan
Seth, you fear no distance. Always rooting for you and NYC will not be prepared for your arrival next year. Huge congrats man
Way to embrace the moment as it was. Ain't no bad run! I just did the Disney World 13.1 and after 3 days of carrying kids through the park, I knew in the first mile I wasn't going to perform. BUT I just kept moving forward and enjoyed every minute of an incredible experience.
First-time marathoner taking in some solid advice from Seth: eyes up and pump those arms!
The video quality, man, amazing !!
Glad you think so!
How positive you were during the marathon was really a beautiful thing!
Smacked up against that old wall! Been there and did it.
That's right! Onward Ray
Still a 3.00.46 Seth, a lot of people can't... 😁. All the best from Holland 🇳🇱
That happens when You Stronger than Your excuses!👏💪
I love this channel mainly because is not about running and success but because is about life and discipline.
You are able to inspire me even when you have a bad day.
And by the way … you editing skills reached a new level. I loved every single shot of this vlog. Fantastic work Seth! We keep going all together!
Ever grateful you're here Andrea
Omg the editing of the race is a true window into the mindset of a runner.
It's what it is all about!!!
tip of the day - if its not your day sometimes its braver to stop
I pulled my calf again! Can’t wait to run again! Things will get better for you! Next time, you’ll prevail!
He is super humble. I hope I can meet him one day. Love ❤ from 🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
Someone who video broadcasts his everyday life to the entire world in very personal detail is anything but "super humble". That's not how human psychology works.
You provide such a great example of staying positive no matter what the challenge! Keep pushing, keep inspiring Seth!
So cool to see Floberg in the video!
he's great!
Love your attitude bro. That positivity. It's contagious! Keep sharing that love. "We love because he first loved us." - 1 John 4:19
It's amazing that you were able to maintain such a positive attitude after having things not go your way. I can't say I would have handled it quite so well.
Great effort Seth really proud of you
you are a inspiration
DGR STRONG
YOU CAPTURED THE MOMENT!!!! EVER grateful!!!
Onwards!
