Living in SoCal. my casinos have full pay 8/5 BP in ALL the coin denominations: 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, 50¢, $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $25, $50, & $100 coin. And Vegas is the same way if you look around everywhere and find them. The higher the denominations are in Vegas the easier it is to find 8/5 BP. I don’t play bad pay tables because I don’t want to “reward” casinos for clubbing us over the head with their “monopoly” on the bad pay tables. I’d rather practice on a simulator and save up on a big bankroll, then hit Vegas using my practiced-up “sloppy near perfect” play on great pay tables in Vegas or elsewhere that they are found.😉🌎
Yes, save up and hit a better casino! I will travel approx. 200 miles to eastern South Dakota where I can find 30/8/5 bonus poker 98.48%, "ugly" Deuces for 98.91% & 9/7 double bonus 99.11%. DDB is only 9/5.
Food for thought. A chain of gas stations with attached convenience stores only makes a nickel from each gallon of gas they sell. The owner believes selling gas is just not worth the hassle, when the items in the convenience stores have a much higher profit margin. The owner decides to completely stop selling gas and only sell items in the convenience stores because he erroneously believes he will make a killing. This is exactly what many of the casinos are doing by eliminating buffets. John, something to chew on.
The Wynn buffet is a tremendous value, excellent offerings and superb decor. The Bacchanal at Caesars Palace is also great but way overpriced. I prefer breakfast at Tableau or Jardin at Wynn/Encore since the food is so good and the Ambiance is 2nd to none. Also Bouchon at the Venetian, Primrose at Park MGM, and Bardot’s at Aria. Pechanga here in SoCal removed their buffet and put in slot machines & a lot of video poker machines too.

I had a unique experience last night. I was playing DDBP and Deuces Bonus back and forth for hours on different machines. Literally I was down to ZERO. Held one deuce and 3 deuces and an ace flew out. HOLY MOLY got $1000 and got even. Another day in paradise. LOL
@@johnsworldofvideopoker Oh forgot this bit - it was a hand pay. The man comes to pay me and said "this machine was hot today. Just before you got here, it hit a royal!" Had he told me this when I sat down, never would have played it.
I wonder how much the Royal was for $$$? I’ve hit 2 Royals on the same machine during the same session several times. If someone hits a Royal & leaves, I’ll hop on for the 2nd one!😂🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@@johnsworldofvideopoker I was playing .50. The royal was on .25=$1000. It was back in 1996 I hit on the same machine maybe 3 hands after the first. Not since.
Thank you. The session itself was lackluster in that I only hit the one good quad but I had fun grinding it out to the bitter end and only “deposited” $100 for all my trouble!🤣 The next 3-5 videos at Red Rock are all high limit: $5, $10, $20, & $25 coin sessions. Thanks for tuning in!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
That was what I call a “mini-session”. Just a low stakes strike on $75 free play subsidized by my $100 to see what may or “may not” come out of it. It lasted one full hour! I was just “playing around” but it took me on a little journey to slow-grind extinction.😝 I didn’t mind it a bit. I almost wasn’t even going to record it (because of the low stakes involved) but I’m glad I did. It was relatively dull but fun. I guess I’m a well seasoned fan of video poker; it’s brand new every time for me! The next 3-5 Red Rock videos are all high limit $5, $10, $20, & $25 coin. Thanks for subscribing and commenting.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Greetings from Torrance! Hi John! Love the intro with the Knightscope robots. I actually got to work on those with another person. Pretty cool tech. This was actually a pretty good session. If you had stayed with 50 cents, I bet this could have lasted more than an hour. But you made the right call and increased your bets playing with the casino's money. Anytime you can play for an extended period is always enjoyable. Thanks again for another awesome video!
Hi Paul, They have those little security robots wandering around Pechanga of which I am sure you’re aware. 1984 is here already! My next 3-5 Red Rock videos are all $5, $10, $20, & $25 coin play so it’ll be a little more interesting. I really like the Oscar & the Emmy that your father so rightly deserved. What an honor and well deserved!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
That would be a Monster Slump unless for many of those 20 years you’re not playing very often. I would practice on a simulator that “warns on mistakes” to further eliminate any common errors and switch to ONLY Bonus Poker until a Royal Flush is hit to “break that curse”. You CAN do it! I believe in YOU!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@John’s World of Video Poker Thanks John! I'm on a mission. I've really been hitting it hard the last couple of years. I remember reading somewhere that odds of hitting a royal actually improve with improper play....LOL. It has always paid me enough to keep me interested. You'd think by now I would have stumbled upon one accidentally. It adds insult to injury when you see a guy next to you hold a jack of hearts and then he hits it. I'm going to try to stick to bonus poker but my local offers the best pay table on double double and triple bonus +.
My friend was having a bad session once and was so annoyed that when a re-deal hand hit (with a 10 in it) he held the 10 and the Royal Flush hit! So Funny!🤣🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I was just messing around with the $100 Bill on top of the $75 in free play Red Rock gave me to see how far I could go with it (just for kicks! )It was actually fun to see how much mileage that I could get out of it. The next several videos will be on $5, $10, $20, and $25 coin. Thanks for watching!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Good advice John. You did have a ton of 2 pair. Oddly enough I don't get that many 2 pair on DDBP. For me it is like watching a TV show. It is either very good or very bad from the start. If you play often like I do, you know you are heading to zero. With that I just go to a different machine. Last night was a doozy. I played a dozen machines, hit low quads and it sucked it back. I had money enough to give one more a go. About the 3rd hand in, hit low quads. Sucked about 1/2 then 3 quads almost back to back. Walked out with a profit but it is hard work. LOL Good luck and hit a few royals while you are at it.
You’re like me as a player, you really get in there, go toe to toe with the machines and duke it out with them! And you’re right, a slugfest is a lot of work. But it’s very gratifying to “knock them out” in the 12th round! I should nickname you, Rocky Balboa!🥴🥊🤣🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@@johnsworldofvideopoker I have had decades of training boxing with those computers. Last night I played into the wee hours, tired and disgusted. But doesn't it perk you right up with quads?! First 7's then 2's w/k then aces, no kicker but that was enough to cry uncle and go home. Not much of a drive either, like 500 yards. LOL
@@janis.T Show'em who's boss, Janis! Yes, some of those long drawn out, knock down' drag out fights with the machines can be mentally & physically exhausting! I've been boxing with them to for 10 years myself!

Great content and advice. I know you mentioned comps but its worth repeating how much better your coin in / coin out looks on bonus. That usually equals much better comps. I too am concerned about some of the comp reorganization that is going on. I play a lot at MGM properties and I am still reviewing their upcoming change from M-Life to MGM Rewards. It will be interesting when MGM takes over at The Cosmo.
Yes Sir, comps are a very big factor in your “return” in gaming. And we’ll all in suspense over what “turns up” at MGM/Cosmo and elsewhere through the MGM Empire…..?🧐🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I’ve never indulged myself in multi-line video poker but after seeing Slotmassacre fade so much action at the Cosmopolitan and how long he survived on the game, I definitely think that it is worth playing, especially at high stakes. I have to hit a few benchmarks that I’ve set for myself on single line BP. But once I hit those, I will definitely follow in Slotmassacre’s footsteps and give that came ago!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I learn so much from your videos. I finally had my 1st positive bonus poker session this weekend, there were times the machine was dead cold at the bottom of the pay table but I hit enough 5s thru Kings quads to finally get into the positive
Thank you, Matthew for the compliments. That’s awesome that you prevailed on the machine with the Quads. A lot of simulator practice will improve your results steadily over time! Keep me posted!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Yes I do and will branch out to those as well. But I much prefer Bonus Poker at high limit to score big Royals. My next 3-5 videos at Red Rock are all $5, $10, $20, & $25 coin denominations. I’ll generally switch to the other games after I’m up on Bonus Poker. Thank you for you suggestions, I’ll work them in.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Glad you brought up accumulating comp points while playing bonus poker because it's a more slower and steady play 👍 - I do exactly that! Start with Bonus Poker to build up bankroll.
Hey John love your videos, and like you prefer BP. Im coming to Vegas in May and was wondering if you know of any casinos near the Flamingo that have 8-5 BP in $.25 to $1 denomination. Thanks in advance and keep the video
Palace Station is very close to the Wynn. (just to give you a landmark). Take a cab or an Uber & go directly to Palace Station. You'll have a blast and you'll be hooked for life. At the lower coin denominations, Palace Station, is the best place to play (almost on the Strip). Red Rock, however, reigns supreme. To go to Vegas & not visit Red Rock (in terms of video poker) is a major mistake. Good Luck & let me know how it goes.
@@johnsworldofvideopoker Thank you for your reply, will have to do a day trip to red rock this trip have never been. Probably going downtown to some of the casinos looking for good games. It seems the hunt is
There’s nothing wrong with going downtown, I go there a lot with my buddies, Circa is worth a visit, The California, may have some really good games for you, but if you’re really serious about video poker, then you “just go to Red Rock”. There’s no hunting there…..it’s completely great from top to bottom. They even have games over 100% pay back there (near the Cinema) in the 25¢, 50¢, & $1 denominations (which you won’t find downtown). It’s as if Vegas vacuumed-up all the best video poker games with the best pay tables, and stuffed them all into one casino. SunCoast & Rampart casinos are 2 miles away from Red Rock and are a much worthier visit than downtown. And understand, too, that every visit to Vegas, I do it all: the Strip, Downtown, Red Rock, Palace Station. I’m just merely suggesting that if you’ve never been to Red Rock or Palace Station and your time is limited….then skip downtown altogether and get a good dose of video poker at Red Rock & Palace Station. I send players there all the time and they, in return, send me pictures of their Royals. Just sayin’😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
You’re right! It is fun to start on lower stakes (50¢ coin in this case) and then do something crazy like switch to a disproportionately and inappropriately higher denomination to try and squeak out a ridiculous win. I had $225 in free play at Paris, Las Vegas, one time & it hit Quad 4’s right off the bat on $1 coin, so I up it to $2 coin & it hit 2 more Quads (virtually back to back) and one of them was 4 Aces. It was a Quad-fest with Aces, 2,3,4’s, other Quads, (I switched back & forth between $2 & $5 coin for 2 straight hours. It finished with a Royal Flush in hearts on $2 coin for $8,000. I left that machine at $10,250 up off of free play. So you never, never know what kind of journey you just might be going on whenever you get on a machine. If you scaled-up that run & overlaid it to $2, $5 & $25 coin with the same hits on it, it would have been a $269,000+ score. That’s why I recommend “pushing the envelope” to high coin denomination off of free play. You sometimes can get a tremendous win with zero risk!😎🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Thank you, Todd. You'll like what's coming-up because it's all high limit on $5, $10, $20, & $25 coin denominations at Red Rock for at least 3-4 more videos, And then we move on to the Wynn. Thank you for gutting out the grind with me!
John I have 2 questions. 1 perfect play or strategy? 2. What percent do you consider for TIPS? Thank You. Your videos are great. I just won 20k playing Bonus.
Great Job in hitting BP for $20,000!!! Constant practice on a simulator that “warns on mistakes” is the best way to come close to “sloppy near perfect strategy” to minimize errors in your play. Therefore, seek always to adhere to near-perfect strategy. Take “gut shots” once in a while (especially if you’re way “up” on the casino) because “miracle hits” do happen on occasion (just don’t overdo it). Tipping by a percentage is reserved ONLY for restaurants. In the casino, it is NEVER a percentage! (Remember, you’re already “tipping” a big chunk (on a percentage basis) to the local, state & federal governments on your winnings already. Perish the thought about tipping a percentage in the casino. Are we gonna tip? Yes, absolutely. Is it a percentage? Absolutely not! It’s a flat-rate schedule as follows: $1,250-$2,000: $10 $2,000-$8,000: $20 $10,000-$20,000: $40 $20,000-$80,000: $60-$100 $100,000-$400,000: $100-$400 ($100 for every $100,000 hit) It’s just a “tip”, not a “charity donation”. There’s a big difference between the two. It’s a logical decision, not an emotional one.🌎
That was a good session full of suspense & possibilities, I’ll be in Vegas in March ( if everything goes well) I mostly play DDB because of the higher pays but on my last trip I did terrible so next time I’m going to play BP to make my money last longer & hopefully hit a Royal or at least lose less...in the meantime I’ll get my VP fix by watching your videos & the other VP channels, I like your strategy & I think it’s well suited for me because I can sit at a machine for hours on end
@@johnsworldofvideopoker I’ll be staying & playing at the California & might hit Circa, although the last time I played there I just couldn’t stand the loudness it was too much, beautiful Casino just too noisy for me, I’ll take my earplugs in case I decide to venture there…I like downtown Vegas it’s much easier to navigate than the Strip
John, this is just what I was looking for today. Yeah, the inside SF draw with two gaps is the lowest ranking hand in bonus poker. One of my plays is 8/5 BP with dollar, two dollar, and five demon. The slot club returns .20% in free play and .40% comps. Every other month they run 2X points, which in today's environment is not a bad play. The ironic part regarding this property is electronic table games are excluded from point multipliers.
Thank you for the awesome info, Mark. I learn something now every time that I hear from you. Those are excellent rebates that your talking about! Keep swinging for the fences. Take care!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
It doesn’t but it’s an inside joke between me and Slotmassacre.🤣 He’s an ardent TDB player and many times (if TDB is swinging into the wrong direction), he’ll switch to BP to conserve bankroll. Sometimes (just like I did here) he’ll end up with 4 Aces w/kicker and say, “Wrong game with those “dirty Aces”. They’re “dirty” because BP is giving him a great hand (4,000 coins on TDB) and all he gets from BP is a 400 coin “slap in the face”! That’s the downside to BP (relative to TDB and DDB), you don’t get any “supercharged” pay outs on the juicy kicker hands! But the trade off is that you get paid frequently on 2 pairs on BP “to make up for it”. 4 Aces w/kicker is the bane of TDB & DDB players when they hit those hands on BP. They “dislike” it very much!🤣🤣🤣🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@@johnsworldofvideopoker Yes, of course. TDB is a bad game for high stakes and/or long sessions; the reduced payouts on lower hands more than detract from the occasional "kicker hand." Slotmassacre tends to play BP when playing really high stakes, and it is a good decision on his part.
When he and I met in August 2020 he was in a slump (like we all go through). I incessantly urged him to take a break from TDB for a while, (which he did) and he made a great recovery and made huge gains by year end. By the same token, he turned me on to the benefits of mixing-in BPD into my sessions. And that one Slotmassacre move has made me thousands of dollars!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@@johnsworldofvideopoker Good advice on your part! I have noticed he is playing a lot more BP, which may not be as exciting for viewers but is likely to grind out more winning sessions in the long run. I like your content and look forward to more of your videos.
Thank you, James, for your encouragement and for your viewership of my channel. Playing video poker with, Andrew & Curtis, is the most adventure filled & fun packed experience I’ve ever had in Vegas. There’s never a dull moment!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I’ve never tried that game. I’m not even sure what the volatility is on that game. I have a few friends that have played it but we didn’t have time to talk about since we were running from casino to casino. I’ll check it out. Thank you.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Hi John! Thanks for the content. Just wondering, do you have any tips on how you record? I’ve started recording video poker as well but my footage always comes out shaky!
It depends on the individual casino in a lot of cases. Some will allow you to record your own play using a tripod. Then again, there are a lot of casinos that won’t let you use a tripod and you have to “shotgun it” by filming with one hand while playing with the other. That is no fun at all doing it that way! Plus the image is moving all over the place. Some people complain that they’re getting “sea sick” watching it. Your best bet is a tripod but that limits where you can record, since a lot of places won’t let you do it. You have to get permission at the rewards desk before you can use a tripod. Hope that helps.🌎
More clearly, “build-off of the “bottom-half”. And I hear you, but one time, I had such a great run off of (JoB, 2 pairs, trips, straights, flushes, & full houses) hitting so constantly (on high denomination) that I made $11,250. 21 Full Houses (in 1 hour) on high denomination coin opened my eyes to the “power” of “playing” the “bottom half” of the pay table (ONLY when it happens to be on a wild run, of course) by “upping” the coin denomination: “in the extreme” in order to take advantage of THAT kind of “Run”. There are times (RARELY) that I’ll also resort to “unorthodox” counter-intuitive (breaking the rules of near-perfect strategy) to achieve a better “short-term” percentage pay back by NOT following perfect strategy (when the bankroll is perilously low) & I’m trying to “salvage” a bad session. It’s not foolproof (and it’s NOT for most players), but it works well when I’ve had to use it.. The operative word is RARELY. Having these additional “tools” in your “tool belt” can be an advantage & can be used to great effect under very narrow circumstances.🌎
@@johnsworldofvideopoker i understand what your saying, one good run like you mentioned in hi limit room the bottom 3 would generate alot of cash, however it happens every 5% or 10% of the time not very frequent however it beats the krap outta roulette or baccarat imo winning 1:1 even money never gets me far or good comps
I only mention the “bottom of the pay table” just for players to be “aware” that Big Wins not ONLY occur at the “Top” of the pay table but at the “Bottom” as well. Besides the top of the pay table is only 2% of the wins, the bottom 5%-10% (?). That’s something to “think” about.🌎
That is exactly the point! Good man, Mike! And start mastering a few games surrounding that target game so you can beef-up your return on house money when you find yourself up on the casinos.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

I had a unique experience last night. I was playing DDBP and Deuces Bonus back and forth for hours on different machines. Literally I was down to ZERO. Held one deuce and 3 deuces and an ace flew out. HOLY MOLY got $1000 and got even. Another day in paradise. LOL
WOW! Deuces w/kicker!😂 That’s the way to stay in there!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@@johnsworldofvideopoker Oh forgot this bit - it was a hand pay.
Not since.
Enjoying your videos so much, always walk away learning something. Thank you so much for sharing and your dedication to the game !
Thank you, Linda. My next 3 or 4 videos are all high limit at Red Rock. Thanks for watching!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Another great video John
Thank you. The session itself was lackluster in that I only hit the one good quad but I had fun grinding it out to the bitter end and only “deposited” $100 for all my trouble!🤣 The next 3-5 videos at Red Rock are all high limit: $5, $10, $20, & $25 coin sessions. Thanks for tuning in!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Good advice concerning playing conservatively. You got a tremendous amount of play out of that initial $100!
Hi Paul,
They have those little security robots wandering around Pechanga of which I am sure you’re aware.
Hey John.......20 years no royal.....Is that a slump????? LOL!
Good try John. Enjoyed watching
Nice job
Thank you, Nathan. Off we go towards high limit play in the next 3-4 videos at Red Rock: Video Poker of the World🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎!
I am going out tonight around 11pm. Not many people (with Covid potentially) Took a power nap and ready for round 999,999,999,999,999,999,001. LOL
@@janis.T i usually play near the high limit that’s on the main floor. I need to explore all the areas in that casino to get a feel for all the games! Good luck!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
What is your opinion on playing high limit multi line video poker vs high limit single line? Do you prefer one over the other?
I’ve never indulged myself in multi-line video poker but after seeing Slotmassacre fade so much action at the Cosmopolitan and how long he survived on the game, I definitely think that it is worth playing, especially at high stakes. I have to hit a few benchmarks that I’ve set for myself on single line BP. But once I hit those, I will definitely follow in Slotmassacre’s footsteps and give that came ago!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@@johnsworldofvideopoker looks like multi-line poker is good at getting casino point
Yes you’re right, especially at high limit. Great point and thank you for reminding me of that most valuable benefit in doing that!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Great play!
Thank you so much, Helen.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I learn so much from your videos. I finally had my 1st positive bonus poker session this weekend, there were times the machine was dead cold at the bottom of the pay table but I hit enough 5s thru Kings quads to finally get into the positive
Thank you, Matthew for the compliments. That’s awesome that you prevailed on the machine with the Quads. A lot of simulator practice will improve your results steadily over time! Keep me posted!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Do you play other games like Jack's or better, double double, triple double, triple triple, deuces wild?
It seems the hunt is
Half the fun
Fun on a Hundy @ $2 Denom. All ya needed was 1 Quad to save it. Goodtimes tho, Thanks 😊
Thank you John!! Fbun and informative can't ask for anything more, except for some more winning hands. See you next time.
It’s a flat-rate schedule as follows:
$1,250-$2,000: $10
$2,000-$8,000: $20
$10,000-$20,000: $40
$20,000-$80,000: $60-$100
$100,000-$400,000: $100-$400
($100 for every $100,000 hit)
It’s just a “tip”, not a “charity donation”.
Thank you for liking my videos. The next 3-4 videos are all high limit at Red Rock. Where will you be staying & playing?🌎
Video Poker & overly loud casinos do not mix! Noisy casinos are the bane of video poker players!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Looking forward to Pt 4!
Thank you for subscribing & commenting. Red Rock High Limit Part 4 is coming up next!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
great video and session john!!gd luck my friend.
Thank you so much, Michael!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
How exactly does a "kicker" benefit you on Bonus Poker?
Found that bonus poker is an even better pick when playing the wheel of gold poker. Because of the reward of the spin when hitting a four of a kind.
What did you mean I missed that 10 again? The 10 wouldn't have helped you in the previous hand.
build off the bottom 3? thats insane, nearest pay back not even a win is even money happens every 1:7 just gets worst from there on
More clearly, “build-off of the “bottom-half”.
That’s something to “think” about.🌎
How about boring 10 seven double bonus I played that
I’ll practice-up on that game and feature it in a video! Thanks for the request and also for subscribing!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Bottom line. You should be playing the game with highest payback schedule that you can play correctly.
That is exactly the point! Good man, Mike! And start mastering a few games surrounding that target game so you can beef-up your return on house money when you find yourself up on the casinos.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
