Just hook the linkage rod to the lever on the automatic you just have to count the clicks 1 for reverse 2 for nuetral 3 for drive I've done it before works great
I put a 350 from an early 70s Impala in my 64 short box. It had a 230 6 and 3 speed on the column. The engine mounts that were on the 350 worked in the pickup. I kept the 3 speed and all bolted in the original position. I had to change the radiator hoses, throttle linkage rod,, and exhaust. I even used the 6cyl flywheel and clutch. Hey Mr. Bill, this is Bubba from Alabama. I have been watching your channel for a little over a year now, Love the content, this is my first comment. Me and my wife build a 1966 C10 stepside with a 454 and a muncie four-speed. The six cylinder motor mounts are back farther than the V8 and they make a nice crossmember on eBay, that you can eliminate the bell housing transmission mounts with. We kept the patina and painted all the bottom side and under the hood satin black. I had to make a plate to relocate the pivot ball for the Z bar. Good luck with you and miss Vicki,s project

Hey Bill! Another nice video! I watched the boys video awhile ago and I got to tell ya street racing in general can be pretty dangerous! Worry about them especially Billy as he has no fear. I just don’t want anything to happen to them. Some of the roads they drag on are full of tree’s, light poles etc. but the old Falcon did good. Keep up the great content and can’t wait to see how Miss Vicky’s truck sounds and looks. Until tomorrow enjoy! Your friend!
Just found your channel recently. Gotta say a guy who takes his dogs everywhere is alright with me. You guys seem like a really nice bunch. thanks for the content!
For the motor mounts on the 64…the rubber mounts has one bolt that holds it to the frame stand from underneath. The 3 bolts holding it to the engine bracket, those same bolt hole line up with the 3 on the SBC. Just bolt those (or new ones) to the SBC, then set it in and bolt to the frame stand.
Great video Bill as always! I'm loving that C10 more and more ... looking forward to seeing y'all cruise it through the beautiful country side!! Prayers for you and your family always!
Every time I see those dogs chasing the rc trucks it reminds me of my brother's bulldog chasing his monster gt. That dog literally didn't move for a week, he just chased that thing until he couldn't anymore lol.
Hey pop's, speedway motors has everything you need for the c-10, Yes, my dad had a 64' stepside c-10 and he said it should link up because there's a rod linkage kit for the column to work with anything from a powerglide to a th400. Even though his was a 283 4-speed in which the guy couldn't drive the four speed and showed my dad what he did once he bought it off him..
Hey Bill, keep your chin up ... I was a wild kid growing up and was quite hard on my parents as well... My only true regret in life at this point is that I was so hard on them... Always tried to be the best at everything I have ever done, but have to admit I was never the best even though giving my best... One thing that is for certain however is that I have the best parents and I’m quite certain that all that are involved will some day see that in your family as well... On another note Howard’s cams is here in Oshkosh WI... I head over to Competition products (were Howard’s Cams is) quite a bit and actually have a few good friends that work there... Think about it, you could actually drive up sometime and get a cam and pick up some of the best overalls at the same time in Oshkosh B’gosh... Well, if being honest not sure if they are even made here anymore... Who knows, maybe they are now made in the same place as Ms, Vicki’s snowman!!!
I had a 63 Chevrolet longbed with a 292 and 3 speed. Pulled it and put a 350/turbo 350 from a Monte Carlo in it. Made a linkage from a solid steel rod to use the three speed shift linkage on the turbo 350. If I remember right just got the rod from Home Depot and bent it in the garage with a vice to work. Lasted the two years I had it, and last I heard it was still working.
Not sure how to go about it but its possible!!! I had a 66 Ford f100 that had a automatic trans with using the 3 on the tree shifter and column Hopefully yall can get it worked out!!! Love the content and this channel, SRC , SRC Photo and DNR Auto are my favorite channel to watch!!! Great job guys!!!
Great Post! On converting the steering column, you can either just modify the shifter linkage you have, or buy a CPP shifter linkage kit, however the real issue is below: The 3 speed column has enough movement/throw to shift a turbo 350/400 but the gear detents is the real issue. It can easily get bumped to get out of gear, easily moved from drive to reverse etc. I do believe they make a detent kit to convert one however I have never used one of these. Also there will be no gear indicator on the column as well. I have done this on a truck or two that I have personally drove but if my wife/kids would drive it, I would probably say put a 60-72 automatic column in it. Should be able to find a non-tilt pretty easy.
Yeah bill you said the same thing to me…. Wanted to say thanks and send a care package…. For my donation to y’all’s build. Have not heard a word.. and my merch order was canceled!
Great video and love seeing the dogs and rc trucks. Know you a old pro driving in that snow but still be careful. We had couple inches in Memphis but it's already gone. Luv y'all and stay warm.
Love your videos, On the motor mounts V8 frame mounts go in the front holes I believe when you keep the 6 cyl frame mounts I’m it the distributor sits against firewall. My dad loves the trucks 64-66. Always got them as 6 cylinder and put v8 in them. He may still have a set of frame mounts for a V8 I check. Love the videos keep up the good work.
Three things; 1) looking at the engine parts, pistons & roller cam takes me back to the days of machining blocks and components that I started doing in 1984 for Booth-Arons and then from 1994- 2002 I did the same for Andy Mannarino @Total Automotive Engineering where I did get to help on the dyno. I really miss those days! I'm now 68 years old, been retired 6+.yrs. 2) Seeing you on that tractor moving snow brought me back to two years I did that on a farm style tractor with No Cab! it was a bit much. 3) You could've let us hear more of the engine(s) on your rc trucks! 😄Good Luck in all your endeavors...
You can tie the linkage together or tack them together and it will work with the automatic. The dash light problem seems to be a power issue. The dome light works on the switch so it it may be the spring on the switch that dims and brightens the lights. Just a few things I've ran into with mine to check out.
Your channel is awesome. Thanks for showing the rc collection love the light kit on the trucks. And that 1/5th scale is so cool. My wife loves hearing about Vicki and the dogs so much. Also Vicki's c10 is also so nice, cant wait to see what you do to it.
I know you want to keep the truck period correct but you should check out the Dakota Digital RTX line gauge cluster assembly, it’s all factory appearing analog layout but LED backlit with modern read outs and you can set warnings alerts for Miss Vicky so she can just drive and not have to pay attention to any gauges. It would especially be a nice combination with the addition of Vintage Air a/c and heat system inside the cab. You can also get it with the automatic PRNDL built in for that 4L80E.
I have a 9' blower on the back of my 4240 and give it back to God, interesting thing though, everyone can find my phone number when a storm hits. 😁 Nice video work on the RC trucks Bill ✔

Great video Bill!, that crank was a really great gift!. You have a lot of support from your viewers and that's awsome!. That last RC truck hauls ass!.
Every time I see those dogs chasing the rc trucks it reminds me of my brother's bulldog chasing his monster gt. That dog literally didn't move for a week, he just chased that thing until he couldn't anymore lol.
Always thumbs up. Great content thanks for the update God bless all
Hey pop's, speedway motors has everything you need for the c-10, Yes, my dad had a 64' stepside c-10 and he said it should link up because there's a rod linkage kit for the column to work with anything from a powerglide to a th400. Even though his was a 283 4-speed in which the guy couldn't drive the four speed and showed my dad what he did once he bought it off him..
Any day you can play with the rc trucks is a good day buddy
Hello from Prestonsburg.
Thank you for sharing.👍👀
Praying for the whole family
Great Post!
On converting the steering column, you can either just modify the shifter linkage you have, or buy a CPP shifter linkage kit, however the real issue is below:
The 3 speed column has enough movement/throw to shift a turbo 350/400 but the gear detents is the real issue.
THANKS FOR EVERYTHING YOU PUT OUT FOR PEOPLE TO LEARN ON CRABS AND STUFF
Yeah bill you said the same thing to me…. Wanted to say thanks and send a care package…. For my donation to y’all’s build.
Have not heard a word.. and my merch order was canceled!
Just watched Billy's video. Awesome content down south.
But..why? It 2022😂
Medina, ohio got slammed hard..
Love those pups out playing
Definitely love where the channel is going..
Great video and love seeing the dogs and rc trucks. Know you a old pro driving in that snow but still be careful. We had couple inches in Memphis but it's already gone. Luv y'all and stay warm.
Those rc trucks looks like a lot of fun .
*in not I’m lol
I sense a HR power tour vehicle in the works..👍😉👍
Stay warm buddy! Excitedly awaiting progress on the 64’!
