Marie-Claire was rarely better than when playing her brother's works - except in Bach. I marvel at her technique but realise it's way out of my reach. She exuded music and the organ was an extension of this. Rest in Peace Marie-Claire! x
@@arjenvankralingen4643 Isn't this Jean Baptiste Robin playing? There is one piece that Jean plays himself on this recording, but not Litanies. Or can you show me which record you mean exactly?
Very interesting, but being in such a crazy rush has removed anything meditative from the pieces played, even by Marie-Claire. Shame you did not set these two masterpieces in some kind of structural light, or talk about the harmonic context of the change of accidental Marie-Claire alludes to. The impression is more of a top hospital Prof of medicine doing his rounds, and the life, soul and breath of the pieces are thereby diminished and almost extinguished. However the thrill of such music will have the last word. The whole thing was expolitative, almost. Far better to say, 'here we are in the church of Saint-Germain-en_Laye, a town just outside Paris where Debussy lived and the Impressionists painted (appropriate pictures) and then gradually home in on, first Marie-Claire Alain, then the relationship with Jehan, then the type of music that Litanies is...and so forth. Now it is too late.
Merci c'est merveilleux de pouvoir revoir MCA comme ça ! RIP Thank you so much for seeing her again like this ! (2)
How Amazing and Awesome this wonderful Lady is!
Wonderful organist and teacher.
This is the most brilliant thing. A well placed camera can change history. The apotheosis manifests.
Awesome awesome! Thank you Josef Rafaja!
Quelle gente dame, quel talent et quel manque...
Fantastic testimonial!

Ich bin der gleichen Meinung wie Sie. Tolle Künstlerin
R.I.P.😢
MC speaks good English and who could be a better teacher of Jehan's music than his sister?
The master herself
A brilliant example of the human mind operating in subswerviance.
Tres interessant
What a wonderful player she was. Pity those reeds are so out of tune though
Very strange people who preserve a magical craft. May God preserve them.

This is somebody who became totally emersed, anomaly of reality.
I wonder how Alain himself would have played it. Are there any indications from people who listened to him at that time?
There is a recording of Jéhan Alain himself on Brilliant Classics

This music is profound in it's meaninglessness.
Je suis monté à cette tribune il y a un peu plus de 50 ans. L’ambiance y était vraiment désagréable. Très mauvais souvenir.
