Need help screaming? Check out my website! I update it regularly. learnhowtoscream.webs.com/ Here is another lame attempt at me trying to teach you guys how to scream.
Probably the only tutorial video that actually helps, props for that. And at 7:15 when he mixed the low power fry and false chord he reminded me slightly of Jonny from Job For a Cowboy
Dude your a fast learner!! It wasnt that long ago that u were making a video asking people how to even fry at all! And now ur making a video telling people how! :D
Glad to be of assistance! :D I'm currently in the process of making a website dedicated to teaching people how to scream (tips and advance techniques included). So check back regularly to get info on that! It may very well help you even more!
I agree with many of the people who are saying you taught this extremely well, I feel my screams have greatly improved after watching this video, I had no idea about Fry screams, and began to use your "Warm-up" noises :P That all aside I love all of your covers you have great screams, and just wanted to say you inspired me to keep working at it and I am planning on a few covers soon. (on a different channel obviously) But thanks again for inspiring me to progress.
in difference to others who explains the screaming techniques you´re the best this far! I actually learned a couple of stuff that i even didn´t know after my 5 years of practising! keep up the good videos! =D
Greats vids mang. I've gotten to something half decent in the week I've been practicing. I'm just having trouble getting my lows to sound low and get a good gurgle going. I try and pitch down by really pulling my vocal chords down, but when I do that it doesn't make the scream sound lower, rather it just makes it harder to get the gurgle sound back. Is it all playing around and finding that sweet spot? Or should I be trying something different. Spiros Antoniou of Septic Flesh 'low' is my goal.
Excellent video. Helped me solidify my power fry. I was wondering, though, what the heck does Alex from Chelsea Grin use on My Damnation? Like, I've got false chord good enough to cover like Whitechapel and stuff, but I can't get my power fry to sound ANYTHING like CG. What the heck kinda technique does he use?
Awesome lesson. So I've got my baseline sound down, how would I begin getting deeper tone? Just wanted to figure out the proper technique so I don't accidentally fall-back on forcing my throat to get the deep lows.
Great video! Helped me out a lot. I just have one question about fry screaming. I've been doing fry's for about two months, and they're starting to sound like something. But I have a problem. I can only scream like one song, and then my throat gets really "tight", and I can't scream properly for about 30 minutes. Did you experience this when you were starting out?
hey man.. love the vid.. just one qns though.. its hard to explain but if i were to show you a video or something like that, will you be able to correct my technique?
I don't scream but I'm a music major focusing in voice, when you breathe, make sure you're expanding your stomach OUT. When you push air out, push your stomach down and out to engage your abdominal muscles. A good way to practice breath control is to light a candle and put your lips in front of the flame and blow a steady stream of air at the flame, but lightly enough so that the flame doesn't flicker (sounds impossible but it can be done). Do this until you run out of breath. I hope this helps!
actually another question as well; The first coupple of times you try to scream/growl, will it hurt your throat regardles of how well you execute the technique ?
hey man, nice video. i was wondering how long it usually takes for screaming to be like second nature kinda like you can just do it with out really trying. probably get asked alot but yeah
A good way to make sure you are using your diaphragm. Is basically just hum a note and slowly tighten your throat. This should give you a funny voice, kind of like Kermit the frog. Then add some grit and power to it and you should start to get the basic false chord sound. Hope this helps you guys out!
Wow, you know what ? it's been almost three month i'm working on that £$£%*µ fry voice and damn today's the first time i succeed ! Well, i'v seen your video there's two month and i wasn't able to do your "things" (marge and stuff), and obviously because of that i'm doind false chord since a great while.. but today, thanks to you and the horse thing, i got it ! So.. Thank you !
Hey can you please give more tips on mixing the fry and false chord together also i am unable to do fry screaming if i do false chord why is that ? am i doing the false chord wrong ?
For fry screams, I can get that growling thing, but when I put my voice into falsetto I just can't get it. Is it more of a practice practice the sound will come kind of thing?
Still do Skype lessons? What I do, I think is power fry, but I can't get them as lows. I feel a vibration on the part that you said that comes out under your jaw, does this mean I'm doing it wrong? It doesn't hurt or anything but it sounds nowhere as god as when I practice in the shower, it's probably just the steam soothing my throat but yeah, how can I make it so it'll sound as good as with steam around? My voice doesn't cut out, it just doesn't sound as smooth (note: there's a lot of grit in
Really nice video! I think that just the thing with your low screams is that it has too much of your normal voice in it. It has that same effect as Austin Carlile's screams where as other screamers such as Mike Hranica have really low fry screams and less of that chirpy voice sound. I personaly do fry screams more than false chord screams and the way I get my lows to have that lower effect is by moving my tongue back to lower my larynx which gets my voice and the scream to an overall lower leve.
If you are just starting out then all of that sounds like your on the right track. When I first started the lowest I go could we're parkway drive mids lol. Highs are really hard for some people, I've been at it for around 2 years now and I'm still trying to devolope my highs. The breathy thing will go away on it's own, your body has to get used to screaming. Just practice and most of your issues will solves themselves. Hope this helped!
Javien, please help me man. I use fry screams (no pain and stuff) but now i wanna learn False chords. Is that normal that it hurts ? I understand the concept of using the false chord to make the noice, but it sounds not that good and it hurts my throat..... What should i do ?
I dont care what anyone says, yerr vocals are better than a lot of covers Ive heard. Ive been screamin for a few years now n got some pretty killer low growls. Lemme know if yerr ever interested n doin a dual cover for somethin. Keep up the good work n stay metal. \m/
I think i have always mixed fry into my false chord screams so when im power frying i can get the highs really loud and smooth but when i try to go lower i always mix false chord into it even when i don't want to. So what should i do?
YOU GET IT! You really know what you're talking about when it somes to screaming. I learned false cord first, My highs were always soo cracky. I learned fry like 2 months ago, And now when I do my highs, there is always some fry in them. and they sound soo much better.
Dude any of this ever worked for me. One day I kinda got the sound and started practicing until I improved. The thing is I have no idea wtf Im doing haha so I wanna know if when you do false chord you have to put a little pressure on your chords or are them as relaxed as when you speak? Cause when I do what I do, I kinda block my chords (Im not sure if those are my vocal or false chords) and push air with my diaphragm. You can check my only video If you wanna listen how It sounds. Thanks man!
hey man I've been doing fry screams and I'm alright with them and I wanted to try to learn false chord but I've got a question, idk i'm probably not doing them right but I run out of air when I try to put force into the 'sigh' so I'm only able to scream like one word before I have to take a breath. and it still sounds horrible
Hey bro i like your video and it has helped some its just my problem is i have been screaming for a while and i sounded great (according to friends and family) but this past week it seems to be fading away. I don't feel pain or anything it just feels weaker and i want to fix that, any suggestions?
hey man, love the practice techs on frys.. still workin on em. do you think you could let me know what type of highs I use so I know how my throat should be formed? vocal cover below..thanks! /watch?v=i9H5xyFjpfE
Same here! I don't think you can mix false into fry without it sounding shitty. I still have to figure out how to get fry into my false lows better. Also I was wondering, how high can you scream with fry? My highs are so much higher now that I can do fry.
Btw. My fry screams sound exactly like yours, but how can i develop a sound like matt tuck's? From bullet for my valentine. I mean... his sound middle voiced. It may be because he's a tenor and I'm more of a baritone/bass, no idea, but if you have any, please, please contact me.
I've never had any lessons lolz, apparently I'm (what my gf, who is a singer, calls) a natural. I watched a few videos from several people and I guess I already knew it lolz. Been screaming for years. but I do appreciate what you're doing man, keep it up!!!
It varies from person to person. It all depends on well you actually do the scream itself. As long as you can do it correctly and it doesn't hurt, just practice until you start to feel a little straining or sore. That all depends on the person as all. Hopefully that helps answer your question. Their isn't a lot of 'right or wrongs' when it comes to screaming.
Hey, at the end of the video you said to add you on Skype but I didn't see a Skype name or number. I've got some big stuff coming up and need to protect my throat. Would you be able to give me a few tips and pointers on perfecting my techniques?
i can already do a fry scream and also a false cord scream. what i don't understand is how do "mix together" fry scream and a false cord scream. please explain how. thank you
"...even if you don't feel like warming up, at least before you scream just kind of *ERGHURGHERUHEGHUERHEUGHEUREH*"
I love your Oh, Sleeper necklace.
Out of all the tutorials thank you because this is the best one I listened and I learned quickly from this video when I didn't understand others
This video has helped me a lot. Still have a lot to improve on but this definitely brought me up a few notches. Thank you. I love you.
best how to scream video yet! thanks man! actually helped me!
This has helped me more than any other video ever. Honestly, thank you so much. I'm for sure going to show this video to everyone who screams :)
This video helped SO MUCH. Better than all the other videos i watched. Trying to become a good front man and vocalist.
This is the best video I've found. Thank you a lot. I'm just now beginning to learn to scream, and I think I'm finally getting it.
Probably the only tutorial video that actually helps, props for that. And at 7:15 when he mixed the low power fry and false chord he reminded me slightly of Jonny from Job For a Cowboy
Thanks, this is the first video that has helped me, and I have watched about all the videos about screaming on youtube.
Dude your a fast learner!! It wasnt that long ago that u were making a video asking people how to even fry at all! And now ur making a video telling people how! :D
I do it in my house and it scares my perants
The best explanation I have ever seen in internet of power fry screaming. Thanks
Glad to be of assistance! :D I'm currently in the process of making a website dedicated to teaching people how to scream (tips and advance techniques included). So check back regularly to get info on that! It may very well help you even more!

I cannot believe I have come upon this video. 2012, the golden age of the internet.
in difference to others who explains the screaming techniques you´re the best this far!
I actually learned a couple of stuff that i even didn´t know after my 5 years of practising!
keep up the good videos! =D
Glad I could help! These are just the basics. There is a lot more. I might make another tut for the advanced screamers. C:
dude you helped out ALOT with the false chord scream!!! thanks a lot!

vs.
MIXED lows 7:14
thats an insane difference
One of the only videos that helped, thanxx
hey man.. love the vid.. just one qns though.. its hard to explain but if i were to show you a video or something like that, will you be able to correct my technique?
Hey man, I had a question. I make vocal covers and I was wondering what kind of scream my highs were? Like I don't know what to compare them to.
very good job explaining the false chords! most people dont really explain the basic concept of the "sigh" :)

I think i have always mixed fry into my false chord screams so when im power frying i can get the highs really loud and smooth but when i try to go lower i always mix false chord into it even when i don't want to. So what should i do?
Did you start out with power? How long did it take you to really sound good?
thanks this was the only video that helped
Glad to have helped. It's really out dated and misinformative compared to what I know now vocally and anatomy wise.
SpreadLoveLikeSex you should re-make it :)
Eclapsed I might just do that tomorrow!
YOU GET IT! You really know what you're talking about when it somes to screaming. I learned false cord first, My highs were always soo cracky. I learned fry like 2 months ago, And now when I do my highs, there is always some fry in them. and they sound soo much better.
SOTM necklace meaning Son Of The Morning, the album by Oh Sleeper.
Dude, holy shit why aren't you famous yet... Ur screaming is phenomenal in my opinion... Damn I want ur voice
Dude any of this ever worked for me. One day I kinda got the sound and started practicing until I improved. Oh, I thought SOTM was short for Son Of The Morning, which is the album (by Oh,Sleeper) the symbol is from..
hey man I've been doing fry screams and I'm alright with them and I wanted to try to learn false chord but I've got a question, idk i'm probably not doing them right but I run out of air when I try to put force into the 'sigh' so I'm only able to scream like one word before I have to take a breath. and it still sounds horrible

dude u explained this perfectly, i never realized that i've used fry screams for lows but never highs and now my highs come out so much smother
hey man, love the practice techs on frys.. still workin on em. do you think you could let me know what type of highs I use so I know how my throat should be formed? vocal cover below..thanks!

i agree. watched another one that was pretty nice too but i think this ones better.

when you mix your voice in do you mix in your falcetto voice?
I love your necklace, dude! Wearing the same one now. :p
But the false cord part of this video was great!
How long do you think we shoukd parctice a day?
hey i can do the fry but when i practice it my head starts to hurt a little. am i doing something wrong? or will it go away with practice?
I've never had any lessons lolz, apparently I'm (what my gf, who is a singer, calls) a natural. I watched a few videos from several people and I guess I already knew it lolz. Been screaming for years. but I do appreciate what you're doing man, keep it up!!!
He has a unique way of doing it that I haven't figured out yet, and I've been trying for two years. It's the only one I can't do.

Another question for thee: I seem to be using my throat too much when trying to scream/growl, what do I do?
this is a great tutorial video, thanks dude :)
so how do i scream like vigil from the ghost inside? and the guy from stick to your guns?
Glad I could help!:D
how long did it take you to actually get a grasp on the false cords?
This may be asking a little much... Do you by chance know a list of Bands and their scream technique? If not can you make one? : \
one question. which part of the tunnel do i vibrate???
Nicee Videoo, Best One Ive Seen !
i can already do a fry scream and also a false cord scream. what i don't understand is how do "mix together" fry scream and a false cord scream. please explain how. thank you
isnt it like doing excercise? in the beginning you are really sour after doing it more and more, its will hurt less? correct me if im wrong :)
