"Media Vita" performed by Anúna, solo by Michael McGlynn also arranged from the Medieval source.
I close my eyes and it makes me feel like I'm inside a 12th Century cathedral surrounded by peasants, lords, and knights in armor. The monks singing, and the smell of incense and candles permeating everywhere. Pure Medieval feeling!
I doubt they'd be wearing their armour to church.
@@jamesupton4996 real
@@generalindex9906 You wouldn’t have knights wearing armor for a ceremonial occasion and mingling with peasants. We’re talking a feudal system.
@@morganssmashingpearls3329 I’m in LA now if you wanna talk about it over a cup of coffee
I feel like I’m surrounded by a cult of hooded robed elders around a dim fire cave low ambience ambient
Gregorian latin chants of the Roman Catholic church is something extraordinary.
Of all churches and religions. Remember that Roman Catholics didn't actually exist when this was written. There is no monopoly of one religion in how to sing to their version of God.
@@anunachoir didn't exist? your wrong you post this video and doesn't even know the history of Gregorian latin chants used and develop by the Christians of Roman Catholic church more than 1000 years ago.
No. They were Catholics, not Roman Catholics. Protestants, such as Anglicans, call themselves Catholics even to this day. Roman Catholicism is a name to distinguish them after the division of the church. And while this is "Gregorian" as an outline, the rhythm is contemporary as is the arrangement which is from 1992.
@@anunachoirGregorian chants are Catholic and no Protestants are not Catholic even if they call themselves catholic.
“Roman Catholic” is a derogatory term used by Protestants
Except for all the RCs I know who call themselves Catholics. Can you do some research (any research) before posting on this thread again? I appreciate that you may feel that believing something to be true is the same as it being true for many people today, but be that way on someone else's video comments.
Magnífico!
This is what I want played at my funeral.
God...I would give anything to be a part of this world of music. Choral music is, in my opinion, the best expression of music on the earth, and there is NO piece performed by Anuna that I do not consider exceptional. Their music is genius, timeless, and inspiring. You are a musical mastermind, Mr. McGlynn. Thank you so very much for the amazing works of art that you contribute to a world that is in definite need of them.
Busque a TFP, eles seguem uma vida mais próxima ao medieval
The only 240p YT vid that sends shivers down my spine ;
+nh6central Hiya - can you contact me through the Anúna website please? I left a message for you a few weeks ago...
To me this is always the definitive version just my absolute favorite rendition
So Loved
Vivat Christus Rex 👑
"Media vita in morte sumus ; quem quaerimus adjutorem, nisi te Domine, qui pro peccatis nostris juste irasceris? Sancte Deus, sancte fortis, sancte et misericors Salvator, amarae morti ne tradas nos."
"In the midst of life we are in death: of whom may we seek for succour, but of thee, O Lord, who for our sins art justly displeased? Yet, O Lord God most holy, O Lord most mighty, O holy and most merciful Savior, deliver us not into the bitter pains of eternal death."
Just goes to show you: put anything in Latin and, no matter how depressing, it will sound beautiful
stecky87 So true lol
Being saved from death isn’t bitter or depressing.
@@boltrooktwo Who said it was? This is a translation of the Latin I posted.
Amen
I remember how stunned i was when heared this music live:) It was an opener of wonderful concert that Anuna gave during "Celt festival" in Poznan few years ago.Really great experience.
Whoa. That's all I can say.
My school's select choir is doing this song, and it's going to sound just amazing!
How did it go
I hope the men wore Templar Armor and the women wore priestess attire.
Priestly attire? Only men can become priests, and what you mean are cassocks and surplices. Also the knights templar were mainly monks, so they had faculties. There they themselves are priests.
*cassocks surpluces and vestments.
Stating the obvious: Michael McGlynn is a divine soloist.
So is John. Brothers of talent. *swoon*
a beautiful, convicting Latin text set to an equally beautiful and haunting melody. It gives chills to anyone who listens...
Je l'écoute souvent avec un très bon casque et je m'imagine au XII ème siècle c'est excellent 👌
Очаровательно, превосходно, великолепно.
I always feel transported to the Medieval Ages whenever I listen to this song.
This performance makes me smile and always gives me chills. Thanks for sharing!
Magnifico! Potente! Ieratico! Soprannaturale! Evocativo! Ti porta al cospetto divino. Non so dire altro....Benedetti siate. 🙏🙏🙏➕️➕️➕️
Chilling, inspiring and moving. An incredible rendition!
I've heard a few tracks by these guys on UA-cam, but this one is, I think, by far the best.
They are a specialist group that performs very powerful music, Even though I'm an old rock lover I can listen to this all day.
Music is judged by some of us by its power, A Gary Moore solo , Scorpions performing with a full orchestra, Frank Marino and Mahogany rush , its all about the projected power ,
Love Anuna even down to the costumes.........
me encantaría oírles en directo.
Tiene que ser espectacular.
I love their music. I would love to see them live. They also have my respect by keeping even and in step down the entire aisle. I'm in the marching band and that is tough to do. Amazing group.
Oh. THIS is what an eargasm feels like.
Literally brings tears to my eyes!
La meilleur !! Vive la sainte Eglise Catholique, vive la France!
Vive la France!!! Not sure about the rest of it though...
@@anunachoir One day god bless. Keep up the good work!
I just love this song so much. It's amazing
the voices of anuna are excellent
Great song✝️🕉️☪️☯️☮️✡️🔯🕎☸️
Vu tout ses symboles tu n'a rien compris à ce chant destiner à repousser les ennemis des catholiques. Les sarrasins maudits.
Repent and turn away from Hindu money god

I feel like I'm back in the time of the Crusades!!💯🔥💪🏼🤩❤️
He's got such an amazing voice!
My high school Chamber choir is working on this song right now and I love it!!!
I have to say that it really isn't that hard though...we got it pretty easily...
I love the way Anuna does it though!!Breath taking!!
How it was?
Anuna's performance of this chant is amazing. When I listen to it, I feel the tension being released from my body. Doesn't matter that the subject is death... Gorgeous!
I did this for choir last year and i can say this song is brilliant in every way possible
Mine to

Katie McMahon, love her! She's so amazing!
Absolutly the beautifulest song I've heard yet in my LIFE!!!!!

Michael, your voice--and this music-- truly something special.
I dont know what is talking about but i am quietly sure its amazing
he talking about the lord God Jesus

Wonderful rendering

Amazing.
Wow that was incredible!
The Mens choir I'm part of doing this song as the song we use when we walk into the Church and after reading the music and watching this video I have become addicted to Anuna! Thank You for such good music.
By a minute and a half into this, starts feeling frenziedly bewitching.
I love those voices..
This song just makes my toes curl. Every single time. *happy sigh*
I have this song on my iphone and everytime I hear it, it sends chills down my spine! Its a really powerful song.
Hope they come to Brazil some day! Love Anúna!
Michael is so awesome!!! :D ...love this song!!! When I listen to these songs it makes me wish I could sing baritone....or bass! :D lol
I'm singing this song in a choir and it's cool!!
This is the best one.
We're singing this song in choir. I love it!!
Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum sonatur : Quoi que l'on dise en latin, cela résonne profondément 🙂
Amazing stuff; their expressions are really good for the moodiness of the piece...Anuna you guys are awesome!
wonderful male voices!
Amazing. I just stumbled over Anuna, coming from the stuff of neo-pagan formation Omnia, and I didn't really expect something that brilliant. I guess, I'm in love. Thanks for providing.
das klingt richtig geil,, wirklich gut ;)
I like this. Interesting.
genialne!!!
One of my favorite songs. As a compulsive listener, almost signed in for a summer school. :)
Неимоверная мощь!!!
i luuvv this and their music!! reminds me alil of a funeral procession but its really kool ^__^
Anuna kicks butt in choral music... I love this! :D
Ahh! So amazing!
Also, it might be irrelevant... but Michael is just such a treat to look at.
This is a great group and this song in particular is pretty cool. Let's hear it for the celts!
This is great!
my Chamber choir is doing this song!
Careful that death could come in the middle of our life. So rough
Not a chirpy little pop song, to be sure.
omg I love you
Brividi dall'inizio alla fine. Un sollievo per l'anima. Super!
Grazie mille!
I really do love this piece. My high school Concert Choir did this processional (very well, I might add) for a concert once. I almost got the solo part.
Actually, the sound and technique of the choir is that of a amazingly Classical-trained one (specialised in ancient music, of course, it doesn't sound the same as a normal Classical Choir). And Micheal McGlynn's vocal skills are very impressive too, even for Classical music standards, and he's got an amazing voice.
He looks so young!
"In the fullness of the life we are dead. To whom do we look for as our help but to You, Lord? Who because of our sins is angry."
Correct me if I am wrong, but after looking up the translation, it sounds more like the song is about the promise of life after death, not just death itself.
wonderful male voices! and female too :))
🔥
One of my favorite tracks from Anúna.. :-) Isn't it time for another album? :-)
Call me crazy, but I feel like the melody and the harmony of this piece sounds like it could be used for a hymn giving praise to a sun god of some kind.
HA! For some reason youtube decided to show my old comment and THANK GOD FOR THAT!!
It was not my intent to show any disrespect. As a composer and classical singer myself, I certainly know how time consuming recording projects can be. I suppose I simply enjoy the music so much that I can't help but hope to discover more all the time.. :-) Best wishes, and keep your sense of integrity that shines so clearly in every project you do.
Bring back the Latin :o

there good
Hey I didn't expect that guy who starts the solo at 1:03 to sound like that!
He looks like a deep voice guy but he sounds young and sweet.
Michael sounds very different here, in a good way. His voice so much deeper and more powerful (usually its more gentle). Absolutely beautiful.
And he looks quite lovely here!
What a sweet voice he has eh?
They take it so fast!
