Great stuff! If you want to eddy out left in that big pool near the top, try approaching on river right. Our instructor on a course told us that. I think it's because the water from either side flows in towards the middle of the wave, so although it's counterintuitive, going down the right hand side pushes you left.
A tip when you do a peal out if you do a sweep stroke and look down stream you will succeed better than you already are. If you do not know what a sweep is you can watch a video on all different types of strokes and motion that help you
I have not tried that as yet, I have just put on the amalgamating tape that i normally use and sanded it with 280 grit (I think), that does work well and it has a cusioning effect too as its thicker than normal leccy tape. I only tried the surf board tape as it was recommended to me, I am not 100% sure I bought the correct tape though, it washard and quite rough but it did have excellent grip. Next time i will get some decent leccy tape, I dont think it will be took long because I messed up the overlapping on the left lol, its got some raised bits and they will start rolling (peeling) back :/ thank you :)
Thanks, I will try, I blew my back band when i tried the weekend before last, nothing wrong with the teeth they are pretty much 100% pristine and the ratchets were new Xmas time last year so I reckons I must be doing something doing sommat very wrong lol Its mostly the hip movement I think, I just cant seem to get the boat to lift.
Yes, I will make a point of trying to surf at the weekend, I think the issues are my edge transitioning and paddle placement for the rudder :/ to be fair though, I have hardly had much practice with it, a couple of times last year at a tiny weir (in early Swanton videso) and what youve seen in the videos at LV, I should try more lol :)
You look like your making big improvements, paddles staying in the water for longer, it all looks pretty fluent. you look less like your shitting your pants on every drop.😂 Just need to master your roll and start to think about boofs.
Thank you, David, much appreciated and yeah, i really need to sort out my roll, to start I am going to put my sweet cheeks back in just to see if they did help, I only removed them because I kept slipping when trying to boof, but I was doing it wrong, hence slipping :)

One more thing when you boof if you lean back all your weight go to the back so the front of you boat lifts over the white water

Can you make a video of you attempting to surf?

@@SubParPaddler yes!
There are easier waves to surf and learn on, if we ever paddle same time I’ll show you
Thank you, much appreciated :)
