I would’ve just rather make good family guy episodes again, I mean really who would care if family guy was suddenly good again? Just like people stopped caring about how everyone changed after season 3
Ted is a great showcasing of how someone can do awful things but not be an awful person. His choices to fix his mistakes are what keeps him from being a bad person.
"It's Family Guy Season 5 humor with Season 17 style delivery and Season 2 style heart." I love the way you put this, even though I have no idea specifically what it means. So this is what it sounds to others like when I throw Simpsons seasons around so casually 😆
I think the biggest reason this show is popping off is because these days its rare to see something that doesn't either fall into the super mature or super kiddy areas, honestly entertainment has gotten so polarized the only stuff that legitimately falls into the middle anymore are cartoons.
You have no idea just how relieved I was when the toy truck wasn't killed off like when human Brian died. You're right, it's so much less meaner than I expected and was seriously wholesome.
I was so ready for the episode to end with Dennis getting run over by a car or something, but they played the ending straight and it was so sweet for something as absurd as a closeted gay toy truck going off to find himself.
That was my line of thinking during the episode. "Yeah, he's very obviously not likable now, but if he was just that way and there was nothing redeemable about him, and they throw him out or something, that will just feel awful, wrong, and incomplete." How they did it, it felt a little bit convenient, but I would rather have a joke and conclusion be made because it's kind and convenient, rather than mean because "there was no other way".
9:52 Really hit me cause' something I think people are obsessed with is almost like... trying to elevate old media by going "man, they don't make em' like THIS anymore" and it's often times really selective memory. The same thing happens with music, animation, film whatever. It's like we can't just say we enjoy/appreciate a scene or episode in an older piece of media, it always needs to be elevated by saying "they don't do this anymore" or "they don't want you to see this one" like calm down and just enjoy the thing. Everyone's so caught up in hyping up the things they like via comparison or the idea of it being scarce, and it just makes the point they're making look silly. It's like we find it so hard to just appreciate something normally.
The problem is that I can't help it sometimes, there are times where I really like an element of something to the point where I'll want more of it and I can't help but notice when it becomes less common or absent later.
Something also of note about the episode where they help out the bully kid is after that point he stops being an issue. Like there’s no mention of Johnny or Ted having any further problems with him whatsoever after that point. I like that it’s not bound by the status quo in that way.
I just want MacFarlane to make more Orville. Easily his best work as writer and director, no contest. Before anyone says anything, no, the show isn't offically over yet. Seth said "we're working on it", there has been no offical word from Fox/Disney/Hulu over the status, and most of the cast and crew still want more episodes.
Not cancelled, but as adrianne palicki said, not likely to happen. Seth has very tight control on the show, and includes himself as an actor. As she said, it makes it very hard to get anything moving. And she's unlikely to return. People like Scott Grimes who continuously work with Seth are sure to return. But people like AP aren't going to put off doing other work to wait on Seth.
It's probably all about spreading the word, which is pretty hard to do as a fan when the best thing you can say about a show is "it is the greatest thing I've ever seen, once it hits its third season, before that it's just a great show, also there's nothing to catch up to because we don't know if there will be more"
The dude helping Johnny feel comfortable with peeing in public and the whole Jesus remark right after might be the most underrated bit in the series. How he doesn’t say anything and just smiles as he leaves is absolutely perfect
This show was hilarious, it managed to inject new life into the Ted franchise, by showing Ted and John in their younger years. Susan is definitely my favourite character, I liked that the fifth episode gave her time to shine.
Been waiting for this analysis from you fr, so this was great to watch. I don’t know if you knew but baby mark is 26! He’s voice acted in a lotttt of shows, he played World in the Fosters Home special and did a bunch of work on Family Guy as generic kids.
The Orville is my favorite show Seth has done because it's written so well, but not enough people talk about it. Ted has the same quality of writing and looks good from the clips I've seen! I'm happy people realize that Seth can make a decent story! 😅☺
Betty wasn't added to Flintstones Vitamins till 1995 due to issues with her design. Ted the TV series takes place in 1993-1994. Therefore, the character of Clive could not have eaten "all the Betty's". And, fun fact, this isn't even remotely important to anything
my best friend's mom is the sweetest, most wholesome woman on the planet and she loved the Ted movies because "awww look at the teddy bear! he's alive! I love him!!" lol
I watched the first film right before checking out the series, and I really liked it. The humor didn't always land, but it had a lot of sincerity to it. The shows humor was better, and made me realize how much I kind of miss MacFarlane's style of showrunning. I'd check out the Orville, but I'm not a trekky.
I’ll hand it to you Tariq, you got me to soften up on Family Guy, I’d probably just scroll past the Ted clips and not get some hard laughs if not for you 💚
There should be a Family Guy movie. It got to the point where The Simpsons took less time to make a movie than Family Guy did. Bobs Burgers even got a movie first
@@joeypoil9370 DVDs don't count. Not to mention how badly that aged. Quagmire' s A OK with Brian and Stewie couldn't give 2 shits if Brian lived or died. Funny how that changed to be the other way around
10:51 Nah, fr, y'all need to check out Bust Down. If you want The Boondocks, that's as close as we got it. Unfortunately, I don't think there'll be a season 2 due to the fact that one of the stars and writers unalived himself.
This show is absolutely hilarious, and shows Seth still has a genius comedic brain. My personal favorite joke is the "What do you mean they got him?" bit.
Fuuuuuck man! I ate the flint stones vitamins and almost died too! At the hospital they got the priests out to tell my parents I wasn’t gonna make it. I totes thought they were candy too! I didn’t know anyone else did that!
The entire time I was watching the show, it really did feel like I was watching just extended episodes of family guy I wrote that off and said it was most likely just the music and the establishing shots that made it feel that way, but your analysis made me realize; yeah this is pretty much just long family guy, and I’m here for it lmao
The scene in the first Ted movie where he owns up to his bad behavior and agrees to leave his life long best friend alone for the sake of his relationship was unironically touching. As far as I'm concerned that was the real climax of the movie. Ted loves to have fun, but he loves his best friend more. I'm glad the show keeps up that vibe
I had some Ted on in the background and I was surprised by how much it sort of sounds like Family Guy, a show I don't really like anymore. What makes it work where I think modern Family Guy fails is that the delivery of the jokes and portrayal of the characters come across as way more genuine.
Movies did Blair dirty she meant that much to them she was so important in their lives but they never mentioned her Yes I know she wasn’t created yet irl
I doubt it's gonna fit for most people, but when Tariq complimented Seth's writing, I really agreed, especially on The Orville. Season 3 is peak Star Trek, and it's Seth's biggest passion project. Great humor and amazing heart.

What was the funniest scene from this series? Look, there are so many gems to pick from. However, the one that I've replayed the most was from Episode 4 (Halloween) when Blair & Ted burn their mouths on the McDonald's apple pie. The gag even continued near the episode's ending 😂
One piece you're missing is the experience Seth and Fuzzy Door have had with The Orville in between Ted 2 and Ted the Series. It's hard to put into words how the jump from Season 1 and 2 to Season 3 (on Hulu as New Horizons) probably changed their entire perspective on making a show, but all throughout the Ted show I felt it bringing so much of the same emotional and visual energy New Horizons created, back into a more digestible hour long comedy focused format. I strongly believe Fuzzy Door has the potential to make genuinely great things beyond Ted and the deal Seth's made with Universal will most likely pay off if they're part of it.
I watched the TV series and have just finished, like, half the movie and - yep, nope, you’re right. It’s even better if you watch the show first and the whiplash is immediately there.
I saw Ted with one of my white homies back in high school. Theater we saw it at is closed down now. Saw Ted 2 with one of my best friends growing up.
