Day by day, victory by victory you get further away from that darkest moment that brought you to the brink. You get far enough out, and you can see beyond your hopelessness to the other side, beyond youself to the wider world. That's why the keep going part is so important.

One I think you missed which i think is a big one 'Stop comparing your life and self to others." We are all individuals and on our own path in life, and each is unique with its own traits and nuances. Its OK to admire someone else for some aspect of their life or self, but if you try to 'live up' to another person's standard, or worse try to completely emulate someone else's person or life, then you are not being true to your own individuality, or developing our own identity based on your own personality and experience. I see this one way too often with younger men.
If you're contemplating suicide, stop for a moment, take a breath and really think hard about how it will effect your loved ones. You may feel numb to living or in such pain that you just want it all to end-- but trust me, it doesn't. Whatever you're carrying that is so unbearable will end up shrapneled to all of them. They will go on with your suffering, it will in some measure become theirs.They spend the rest of their lives ashamed asking why carrying guilt that they didn't do enough for you or worse that they somehow pushed you over the edge, no matter how well you write that note, that's inevitable. Is this what you want? Or is it better to seek help to save yourself and all those you love? It isn't easy but we all have someone who looks at our example, someone who we are their whole world. Don't we owe those people our loyalty? Don't we have a duty to honor their love? Meditate on these things. For their sake, and yours.

Another HUGE THING, is blaming yourself for what someone did wrong against you or did behind you're back. It's so easy to blame ourselves for another's sneaky behavior, lies, mistreatment, etc. The fault is entirely on the shoulders of that person. If they felt you were wrong about something, they should talk to you - not sneak around your back. That just shows they care more about what they want and their pleasure than your feelings. Nobody deserves to be betrayed and hurt like that! Remember you deserve!
A good thing I have done to change my mindset and to be more confident in myself, and the world at large, is saying 3 good things. Do this at the end of everyday, you can always find 3 things that are good in your life or happened to you in a day, and it really helps to build a more postive outlook on life and yourself.
I once heard a Pastor say that...after your relationship with God, you only need a couple more things...find one best friend & find something you are good at...GOD Bless!
As a man with borderline personality disorder some of these will be enormously difficult... I'm 30 now and I've hated myself since I was 11. Real Men Real Style i usually know when I’m doing a good job or look good with what I’m wearing and I’m happy with that but when someone compliments me i strangely don’t like it wether it’s family or friends. The compliments are never backhanded. i never react in a negative way i obviously say thank you but i for some reason feel like I’ve been insulted. Even from previous employers when they would tell I’m doing a great job i wouldn’t like it. “Follow the howl” had a good point, maybe i don’t like the fact that I’m being noticed or getting attention. I do like being on the downlow but doesn’t explain why i feel that way
