He is a good player especially considering his height ,with an impressive vertical.He is not the best player in the world of course . There has been so many you tube video about him like about no one else.
Lot of advertising for the japanese team almost nothing about Slovenia ,tiny country which deserves more attention.
Nishida will probably never win a nation worldcup neither a club world cup, and there are players of his size that are physically more impressive like Lopez , 370 reach and a faster spike.Nishida remains a very good player with an exellent service but the time has resized him.Was obviously an idol for all asians ,he gave hope to normal sized people to became great volleyball players.
I still think that in a good club with good teammates and a good setter Nishida could make a difference in the world of volleyball. I remember the year he came to Italy, outstanding performances in every match, but the team setter was weighing him down, that and the nasty ankle injury that he got mid-season.
@@dext1352 He was super inconsistent like that whole team was, I would love to see him on a polish team over an Italian team as they play more closely to the way the Japanese national team plays
I had this old video about playing Yuji in Italy, but I voiced it over with neural networks. But now, it seems to me, it would be kind of out of place :)
@@dext1352 Italian league setters are used to having a 6'8- 6'10 opposites, they like playing slow and power spike volleyball, same goes for Polish and Russian leagues. Playing japanese style volleyball is difficult outside of Japan since it requires too much practice. It doesn't help that Italian teams get reshuffled every year when they don't get the results they were looking for. I say it's really unlikely that he will have the right system to succeed in club scene like he does with the national team.
@KungFuTze i agree, but there aren't really top opposites in Italy at the moment, I don't mean that they are useless they're just good players, nothing special. The problem with Nishida, apart from his injury, was that he couldn't fit in the team and the play style of one of the worst teams in that season. I still believe that with good practice and a good environment, Nishida could be a real force in the European volleyball scene
There’s something about this guy’s height, vertical and block-piercing spikes that inspires me so much that I wanna play volley everyday.

He is insanely overrated. Only because people love the Japanese national team and because Nishida gives smaller people hope that they can go pro. Prime Mikhailov is so clear over Nishida. And at the moment i would say that opposites like Patry and Kazcmarek are better. Patry is insanely underrated. His consistancy and cleverness makes him one of the most proficiant opposites
Even 35+ yo Mikhailov and Wallace are still kiling it in club with Kazan and Sada I'd take any of them

Nishida is not overrated. He is really skilled and great despite those you mentioned. The fact that Nishida can have that really high vertical despite being significantly smaller is not an easy feat. His spike is also so fast and powerful that rivals the best opposites out there. It’s not about Japan or smaller people having hope, his spikes pierces through defences even that of Italy’s infamous walls which makes him one of the best opposites in fivb/vnl. Lol
@@Aderland He is not close to being as consistant as the ones i mentioned. Last vnl he got benched multiple times for Miyaura. He is not the same as he was before his injury

The way they are currently progressing, I might even pick Reccine over Nishida as the short king
I'm curious what makes him less effective in front row, obviously going up against blockers that are way taller is hard but since his spike reach is high as it is I don't see how his size holds him back that much. Maybe he just doesnt utilize his other tools when hitting that much?
I mean, Ran is only about 2 cm taller and he does just fine in front as well as in the back. Why would that be?

Юджи мощный игрок и дает результат команде, в которой играет, а это очень важно. Люди ,которые сравнивают его с двух метровыми шлагами не объективны. К тому же если брать эстетику его техники, то вообще нет равных.

Does anyone know why he left italy? from what it seems it was a rough transition, [culture, play style, injury ect.] but he still all in all was a really good player who played a good season, if he stayed im super sure he would only get bettter, and could be respected as one of the top players their, like he is holding himself back so y is doing that? [correct me if im wrong ofc, i would like to know]

he is certainly the most popular... but far from being the best player in the world and super exciting to watch him play. But, he can't spike front row and benefits greatly from back row attacks in a Japanese style system, aka fast with lots of semi and pipes. You will not see Italian, Russian or Brazillian leagues playing like this. One of the reasons that lead to his team being relegated in Italy. I rather have a top European 6'8-6'10 Opposite like Nimir, Patry, Poletaev, Kurek, Kaczmarek than him. He had 2 good seasons in 19-20 but between injuries and moving back to Japan his stock plummeted internationally in club level. He's not even ranked in the top 100 players 21,22,23 statistically.
Who would you say are the top 5 opposites in the world currently?
IMO they are Mikhaylov, Nimir, Lagumdzija, Kaczmarek, and Anderson if you are counting him as an oppo. Honorable mentions to Grozer, Romano, Bentara, Patry, Boyer, and Lima. If you don't count Anderson I'm not sure who I would place 5th honestly.

I don't think the time Nishida has spent in italy count as data. He played with one of the worst setters I've ever seen in my life
I wouldn't say that Orduna is a bad setter. Even Plotnitskiy spoke very highly of the Italian's skills)
@@TheBestSideofVolleyball When he player at Toni Calipo the setter was a guy named Saita (or something like that), He was trully awfull setting balls hahah
@@luisgondim8283 Calipo finished 4th place in the league the year after nishida with Saita setting. Hes really not that bad, hes just not at the level of a top 10 in the world setter.
@@luisgondim8283you know if your a spiker and your spike doesn't go well, don't blame the setter, it is the spiker responsibility to do their jobs no matter what is the toss that comes along your way. It's just that nishida is really an overrated player in the volleyball world and you have to accept it whether you believe it or not!
@@chielobanzuela Compare Nishida's points per game playing for Japan and the same period playing for Toni Callipo... And you need to have in mind the level of national teams are way higher than the Italian league

He has charisma thats why he is popular. But talent/skills?? Hhhmmm NO, not god level.
