@I suck at being bad true. Its because this M6 probably has longer headers. Watch some vids of M6 V10s with long tube headers, they have a deeper tone than the ones with fully straight pipes only. Oem Headers decatted have that F1 scream, the longer headers make the M6 sound more like an S6 V10.
5 liter with insane F1 technology, getting 100BHP from 1 liter of capacity... This is exactly the same power to capacity ration that 1.1 FIRE from Fiat Seicento developed with budget turbo kit. But even with natural aspiration could go over 120BHP, and no, it didn't break down istantly. 100BHP 1.1 FIRE showed no signs of damage after 100 thousand kilometers... This literally means 80's budget Fiat technology is enough to achieve what BMW did here. The rest is just hype and marketing propaganda.
@@-BuddyGuy This isn't any bullshit. 80's budget Fiat FIRE series engines can be tuned to get same power to capacity ratio as this BMW, and they will run similar mileages, even using factory standard cranks and crankshaft. F1 technology in this BMW is nothing but propaganda... 'We use metal, same as F1 engines!'. That's what it is. A hundred BHP per liter is literally no achievent, 60s pushrod mass produced engines were close to that target already. Trouble only starts when you go beyond 200BHP per liter, because that requires very tough materials and seriously good lubrication and cooling system, but it's still nowhere near the F1 levels of engineering.
One of the greatest engines, v10 we will miss these engines, sounds brilliant too 😭 SMG 3 gearbox brutal shifts just make it even more exciting when going WOT 👌
@@steventhornton4716 At least in the 30 or so e6x M cars we've serviced I've never heard of an SMGIII failure. Replaced some hydraulic pump motors, clutches, even a couple valve units but never a complete transmission.
Had the pleasure of owning M6 E63 as my daily drive for 3 years! Man oh man what a car, so many good memories, not a single issue with gearbox or the engine. If you know how to take care of it ofcourse ))
I've owned my e63 V10 for 8 years. Only problem I've ever had was to replace the alternator at 127k. Otherwise The perfect beast! Wouldn't sell it for twice the money I paid for it.
4 years of ownership with no problems, all preventative maintenance completed which is the key if you want a reliable V10 M5 …. Fantastic cars to own as a weekend toy, i don’t think I will ever sell this car in the coming future it’s that addictive 😎👌🇬🇧

My 2007 E63 M6 is completely OEM I own it for the past 11 years. I love the original wheels the chrome grille. So that car can be put back to original spec easily the way I like them !
I think it’s crank. For some reason it’s relatively common for dyno’s in Europe to actually give you a brake horsepower number instead of a whp number, idk if its due to it just being simpler (no conversion or thinking required) or what but yeag
@@lomfmur I think the most accurate method is WHP. Horse power is already obtained through torque since it is the torque which is measured. From the torque, the power is calculated. To have BHP, I guess that they need to input the theoretical BHP given by the car maker so that they can correlate the WHP to BHP so it introduces another systematic error in the calculation because it depends on how accurate is the power given by BMW, Mercedes, Ford...etc The best way to evaluate the power gain is just the difference of HP measured before and after the tune because this value will always be absolute. This way, if the dyno is not accurately calibrated, you ll always know how much HP you gain before/after the tune if that makes sens. And best is to express as WHP and not BHP. That what matters eventually: how much power available at the wheels to put it on the ground. If you lose like 100 HP between brake and wheels, it is irrelevant to express BHP.

owned a e60 m5 and this single clutch v10 combo is by far the most emotional and reward feeling especially those redline shifts. cannotwait till i get the m6 i dream of the coupe carbon roof v10 screaming with updated suspensions and all necessary maintannces

I love my m6 it's so fun to drive..I have had mine for 6yrs now ended up throwing a supercharger on it 5yrs ago..never had any rod bearing issues. Its sounds completely different with my setup. She screams..I have catless longtube headers xpipe, cutouts, methonal injection and more.
I don't care what people say about the reliability. I believe the V10 experience is worth it even if it's just one time. Just imagine if the F10 M5 got the V10 also. There won't be another car like this ever again.
I dont get it, people say that the shifts are garbage on comfort mode because they are slow. But wasnt it done on purpose? You are in comfort mode. Its supposed to shift slowly and nicely.
It's awesome but it's also why you can pick these cars up for 20k. It's quite intricate and has a large number of design quirks that mean you'll spend more time with it on the lift than on the road. I love my E63 and everything...just wish I could drive it every day.
this car is so addicting to drive. The more you drive it- the more you like it. Gearbox and engine has many options you could choose from and save your favorite on the default settings. It's not cars fault you don't spent some time to do that. :D The only complain I agree on- is the steering. It needs an active steering. Don't know if it was availability for this model tho.
Great video I have E60 M5 and you wright it feels like nibble and it feels like it's floating on the road but it's from aftermarket wheels. I have 3 sets of wheels and everytime I use original oem wheels then the car feels wright. I don't know what it is but the whole experience changes instantly. These cars don't like aftermarket wheels and some brand of tires. I have indy500 on my stock wheels, KW 3 setup and the car feels like bullet. And yes S85 feels slow but on the paper shows it's not bad for non turbo.
For sounds you could do a decibel measurement, just in the cockpit (window open / closed). Do it with every review and you will have some comparison. No nifty equipment required, just some app on your phone (which you would have to use for every review of course, for a fair comparison).
IMO to convey loudness you should just place sound meter in the recording. Seeing if it is 70, 80, 90 or over 100 dB will be sufficient to get the picture.

I dont get it, people say that the shifts are garbage on comfort mode because they are slow. But wasnt it done on purpose? You are in comfort mode. Its supposed to shift slowly and nicely.

It's awesome but it's also why you can pick these cars up for 20k. It's quite intricate and has a large number of design quirks that mean you'll spend more time with it on the lift than on the road.
I love my E63 and everything...just wish I could drive it every day.
That F1 drivetrain in a normal road car is amazing but wasn't meant to be
this car is so addicting to drive. The more you drive it- the more you like it.
Gearbox and engine has many options you could choose from and save your favorite on the default settings.
It's not cars fault you don't spent some time to do that. :D
The only complain I agree on- is the steering. It needs an active steering. Don't know if it was availability for this model tho.

I have E60 M5 and you wright it feels like nibble and it feels like it's floating on the road but it's from aftermarket wheels. I have 3 sets of wheels and everytime I use original oem wheels then the car feels wright. I don't know what it is but the whole experience changes instantly. These cars don't like aftermarket wheels and some brand of tires. I have indy500 on my stock wheels, KW 3 setup and the car feels like bullet. And yes S85 feels slow but on the paper shows it's not bad for non turbo.
I just converrted my 2010 M6 to 6 Speed Manual and while I understand it will never be as fast as SMG, it's special in its own way now!
This car deserves more hype
For sounds you could do a decibel measurement, just in the cockpit (window open / closed). Do it with every review and you will have some comparison. No nifty equipment required, just some app on your phone (which you would have to use for every review of course, for a fair comparison).
IMO to convey loudness you should just place sound meter in the recording. Seeing if it is 70, 80, 90 or over 100 dB will be sufficient to get the picture.
