What I did was just throw the joy on because I was so pissed because I just bought my switch less than 3 months ago and my $60 pro controller has stick drift.
I bought the linked repair kit, which came with far more than I needed (but I'm a tool junkie, so this isn't a problem for me). I very much appreciate the extra screws that came with the kit, too -- though fortunately I didn't need them. The joycon I repaired was slightly different (three screws holding down the battery tray vice five) and the battery itself was secured with some glue, so required some very gentle prying to get it to come out (which I'm actually not sure I needed to do, since there did not turn out to be any screws under the battery). Also, of note: the tweezers in the kit (really happy the kit included them) have very sharp points; in trying to make sure the ribbon cable was in its connector securely, it marked the connector end. However, the joy stick works just fine, so I didn't actually damage it -- just be careful and don't try to brute-force it like I did. This repair was far, far easier than I expected, with both the kit and the excellent video to go by. THANK YOU SO MUCH!🎆
This is fantastic, thanks. Four months into owning a switch we had broken joysticks on two of our four joycons. My 12yo and I fixed them both in under an hour (the repair kit we bought came with all the screw drivers and a tweezers and pry tool) and she really enjoyed the process!
I have had this problem for a while. This video was extremely helpful my guy. And for that. You get a thumbs up and a subscribe. And you have a cool accent
I’m hesitant to do this, but it would help, because games have basically become unplayable, my sticks can’t move down and left, and they drift upwards.
My right joycon has (or looks like) drift to up and it doesn't move to the other directions and also doesn't click the "r3" button it has ;---; Count as a problem of the stick or is a problem of the joycon in general?
So I bought the kit and replaced it and the joy con stick still won’t work, it’s keeps wanting to go left, even when I’m not touching the stick. It still has the same issue after replacing the stick, is there anything else you suggest?
Is there a way to repair the dock rail on the left joycon itself? My daughter dropped my stick and it ripped the rail off yanking the wire straps out and unfortunately broken the plastic around the screw mount making it fairly difficult to reinstall. Honestly think it's unfixable

Omg same. I think Its unfixable tho... Im not sure but I think the problem is inside the little box of the joystick so I guess Ill have to change it like they do in the video.
