David Bailey on BBC News: Reaction as Tata Group to invest over £4 billion in UK gigafactory

"Jaguar Land Rover-owner Tata has confirmed plans to build its flagship electric car battery factory in the UK.
The new plant in Somerset is expected to create 4,000 UK jobs and thousands more in the wider supply chain.
Tata said it will invest £4bn in the site but it is understood that the government is providing subsidies worth hundreds of millions of pounds.
The plant is described as the most important investment in UK automotive since Nissan arrived in the 1980s.
The new gigafactory near Bridgwater will be one of the largest in Europe and will initially make batteries for Jaguar Land Rover vehicles like Range Rover, the Defender and the Jaguar brands.
But the plan is to also supply other car manufacturers as well, with production at the new factory due to start in 2026"

Well, speaking of subsidies, if it's biting the UK so much, maybe TATA's should find another country, which will be more than happy to welcome Tatas & JLR on even better terms.
UK media is fast becoming a source to keep Ppl of UK poor. I am sure India can prove to be far more beneficial if the TATA'S decide to shift their investment from UK to India.
Two units 0:28 will be set up by Agratas. One in Gujrat and another in uk . To reduce the procurement cost.
Spain or France will be better option.
TATA is Indian ?!
@@naazahs9045 yep
tata should invest in india not uk.
You cannot get big companies to invest without giving subsidies, that's the truth. Do you think British companies within Britain do not get subsidies if they invest?
Britishers working for indian company. Ironic isn't??😂
Don't speck like this bro the time has changed its time to evolution not taking revenge or something else

Why Indians hate brits..?
1. More than 100 million Indians died in the first 40 years of British rule.
2. 29 million Indians died under British induced famines designed by Churchill under his military doctrine.
3. India and China were the richest countries in the world than brits came slaughtered Indians and Chinese took their wealth, which made India and China poor.
4. The total value of wealth looted from India is more than $45 trillion dollars.
5. British were worse than nazis because in 200 years, they conducted countless massacres like Jalian walla bhag and Machlipatnam massacre.
6. Churchill and British army raided villages in India took away the entire agricultural yield as reserve stock pile. Which led to more than 4 million deaths of bengali people.
7. Our stolen wealth our artifacts are still in the British museums they won't be returned to us.
8. After all this, they still haven't apologized or paid us our reparations, but they do lecture us on human rights. Almost every day.
This is just a tip of the Ice berg.

Most car industries are owned by foreign companies and are technically not British. Tata would not have invested in this business is the government had not put up the money.
Billions against 100s of Millions? Is it worth the comparision?
Tata is the second largest job provider in uk after america
So don't mess with your father india 🇮🇳💪
Tata is not even in the top 100 employer list in the UK....India itself is 40-50 years away from reaching its full potential. Reading the comments from young Indians on here is actually quite funny. I've spent 10 months in India so I can speak from experience. India is very corrupt, the place is full of garbage and the people treat the country like a Toilet. Every person i spoke to is trying desperately to leave India. The infrastructure is a disaster, heck look at Delhi the only thing that is somewhat normal is the airport, 10 minutes from there you see the dysfunctional chaos that is India. Everyone in India is an engineer... well let's actually call it what it is, they are book engineers, most of them have bribed their way thru school. Most of the Degrees in India are fake and paid for. India is lacking the actual hands on skill of "Labourers" to actually build something correctly. Until they fix the "trade schools" and stop pumping out "book Engineers" it will remain the same. Young kids like yourself wondering around the malls videoing themselves for likes and views on Tik Tok....
Lol poor brits where is uk aid
France is welcoming this investment, if you guys don’t want 😂
now britishers are depended on india
One unit will be setup in Gujrat.. and another in uk.
britishers media or public will never be understood that if foreigner company wants to open his new factory in india...then india will also providing subsidy for that company....about 40 to 55 percent.......I dont know why tata agrees to open his new factory in uk....where already economic crisis had happened...because of rishi sunak....other wise no one company wants to open new factory in uk .......specially this time.........
India provides 75% subsidies to Foreign Companies, 12% subsidies of UK government is just a penny to TATA Group. You should to be grateful to India and TATA Group for investing on such a Recession hit country like UK.
Be thankful.

British should be great full that an Indian company, TATA, is investing billions of dollars in a poor country like Britan 🤣🤣🤣
Africa welcomes Tata if UK doesn’t want them
4 billion pounds doesn't grow on trees, without subsidies tata may have looked for other spot for the factory.
Subsidies of hundreds of pounds while the company is putting 4 billion pounds with a B .! 😂 even if we assume 9,999,999 pounds of subsidies (millions not hundreds😂)it's equal to .25% of the total figure😂😂😂😂
Now total tata group value 381 billion dollars..

Such a negative media. The whole world is providing subsidies just for the sake of investment in their countries but the way this lady is describing shows so much negativity in her terms .
Anyways I feel Tata should find some other country as an option .
They all said it was good? I think you guys are hearing what you want to hear.
If British are not great full about TATA investing there based on news articles TATA should choose any EU country like Spain, France rather than a shortsighted failed country like UK.
Secret services says that Tata is doing this because they wanna Recolonise UK🤣

Well then in India chip manufacturing companies are going to invest so Indian government announced to give them land electricity and 10 billion dollars...and many other MNCs are also receiving this kinds of schemes this is normal in any country
The problem with encouraging a foreign manufacturer to set up a factory in the U.K. they can hold the government to ransom and set up shop anywhere in the world when the economic climate doesn’t suit them. I’m just baffled why our government doesn’t encourage homegrown investment from British manufacturers like Rolls Royce and JCB for example, giving big subsidies to Britain’s innovative start ups so smaller companies like ARM can scale up and become a giga factory in the U.K. and compete with big companies around the globe. Arm was British until it could no longer secure funding to scale up in size. Now it’s being relocated to Silicon Valley in the US but is keeping its research and development in Cambridge U.K. because the Brits are the brains behind ARMS innovation. We need to back british for a change instead of backing foreign firms all the time.
Short Answer - Those companies neither have the tech knowhow, nor have the deep pockets that Tata has for setting up a Gigafactory for latest generation of Battery factory.
@@Amuzic_Earth British companies like Rolls Royce who manufacture nuclear reactors for the Royal Navy and are on the cusp of delivering Small Modular Reactors SMR’s for Britain’s future energy needs once government bureaucracy gets out of the way so RR can build these for 2030, as well as building most of the worlds jet engines for commercial airplanes have the expertise to compete with the very best. JCB is the same designing and building their own Hydrogen Fuel Cell Tractor and Excavator which promises to be one of the best in the world, and that’s why India imports JCB’s into their country. But have you heard of British VOLT? It promised to build a British GIGA Factory in Somerset U.K. but just when it was ready to deliver the GIGA Factory the government pulled out and would not subsidise it with the investment it needed to build this mega factory in the U.K. The U.K. Tech sector is the 3rd biggest in the world which is worth $1 trillion so it’s not because we don’t have the knowhow it’s because British investors will not take the risk like Indian investors or Japanese for example will which is why Britain lags behind foreign countries. I’m sure overtime we will catch up but we need a strong government first.
@@lg5819Rolls Royce cars demand is very less I.e net sale of 6000 vehicles in 2022 while tata motor sold more than 525000 vehicles in 2022.It's not about Invovation it's about better bussiness management.Did u know Ratan Tata didn't have time to marry because he was busy in building Tata company stronger, which cannot be found in rolls Royce management.Britain need to think what hard work is all about.Britains this generation is less focused on STEM subjects while it is opposite in most Indians are taking STEM subjects seriously that is why growth of Britain will be challenging while India is and will be fastest growing nation.
@@vishalkumar-nw6cp reading your comment it’s clear to me you do not realise there are TWO Rolls Royce companies. One is German which makes expensive cars. The other is British which makes nuclear reactors for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarines and is developing Small Modular Reactors SMR’s to power Britain’s energy needs in 2030’s, and the same British company manufactures and innovates in Derby U.K. most of the worlds commercial airplane jet engines, an invention that was invented by British engineer Sir Frank Whittle. The countries that will lead the next century will be the ones who adopt emerging technologies like a.i artificial intelligence, something Britain is adopting fast as we move forward towards the 21st century because Britain leads the world in innovation, and that’s how we built an empire at one time from nothing in a country with limited resources.
Why can't the British invest in India the same as the Indian firm are doing
