Omg 16:00 thats exactly what I said! Francesca is very pretty to me and I saw nothing wrong with her ! I think she is the definition of effortless black beauty. I posted her pic and black women were saying she was ugly and that her hair was unkempt . But because I do not have 4c hair and I don’t have these biases against it , I never viewed her as unkempt nor did I view her hair as ugly. Someone else said she had old braids which again was something I never noticed (idk what that even means. Are they trying to say she doesn’t have her edges slicked?) the internalized texturism was jumping out with people who criticized Francesca. I also thought Francesca was pretty with little to no makeup and again boom. People in my comments said she was ugly. But what about her facial features was ugly ? In my opinion she looked like a pretty unambiguous girl . I really do feel like a lot of women let their own insecurities get the best of them and they try to project their insecurities onto other women . Anyway great video !

It’s honestly sad because even if they didn’t find her “pretty” they should have stayed on code and allow her to shine. A win for one is a win for all. She is literally a UADW playing a very feminine role. That is amazing corrective promotion in my opinion.
I’m not surprised at all with the hateful hair comments. One thing about the black community is the women are obsessed with layed edges and every strand being perfect. God forbid someone has a hair out of place then you get the nappy comments. Very embarrassing, I want no part of it.

Dark skinned black woman are the worst to other dark skinned black woman that’s where the colourism comes from.Anyone that feels the need to bring others down about their appearance is extremely insecure

This is the reason why we can't have nice things.

It’s so nice to hear that the colourism debate is also sounding toxic to you aswel - self hate will only breed insecurities and low self esteem.
I have a lot of “colourism” from dark skinned woman because I love my hair, skin and my features I love myself and I won’t apologise to anyone for being who I am I was born this way.
There’s should be more channels about how to take care of Afro hair and doing different styles instead of the self potty colourism channels.
No everyone will find you attractive or make you feel beautiful in this world just loving yourself is enough we all have insecurities but blaming eachother instead of dealing with the trauma and healing is not productive

There are channels about how to take care of afro hair. It's an entire niche on UA-cam

@@mishikijayanna3184 that’s great more channels about hair and self love is better than the channels that are light skin and dark skin vice versa it’s stupid

I believe BM caused this problem. I’ve had a lot of hate from lighter skin/ and mixed women. I’m a Brown skin woman that had a colorist Light skin mother.

Like Dark skin men live light skin women but don’t like Light skin black men. My son caught so much hate for being light skin.🤦🏾‍♀️

I am so happy to find a small channel targeting what I have been through ! (youtube spying on me..?)
I'm French and despite not having experienced any obvious racist treatment in the streets and having a supportive family, I had to experience colorism at school, bc it was a private one (predominantly white). It was not about specifically putting me down (never bullied) but always putting white, blondes, light-eyed girls on a pedestal. I started thinking "why don't I deserve that treatment ? Maybe I'd prefer be white". That was the start. Right now I'm working on my self-esteem, accepting that I might be pretty in the end, despite not noticing any male attention. I no longer cry bc I have dark brown eyes, or a round nose. It's coming together !

It sounds more so like you experienced racism at school rather than colorism just saying.

9:51 THIS I absolutely agree. I feel like its the old wave of the colorism community but the new channels are popping up are actually trying to pedestalise thier own features! Like I can't stand the chrissie type channels who prpose no systemic changes to racism and colorism

    • @UniqaLines
      @UniqaLines Місяць тому +9

Like the old wave of colorism channels imo are queen chioma, thee madamioselle, chrissie.
While the newer ones like cocao club, The Darkskinned Clique and ChocolateSquad do much BETTER than the older ones since they actually want to decenter men and to center thier own phenotype

I 100% agree. And it’s sad because there is a cult like following. They address certain issues in such a problematic way that is very damaging to their viewers/followers. I was able to catch on quick but not everyone has that discernment.

2:47 oh wow that’s interesting . Out of curiosity, do you have an African or carribean background or was the friend who was selling the lightening creams African American? Or did she have a background from somewhere else ? I would be shocked if she was African American but anyway let me keep watching the video ❤🍿

You are correct. This was my youngest sister though, and we are Caribbean. Although she was born here she was influenced by the older women in my family who did bleach their skin. We have another sister who is really light and she was obsessed with her skin tone. Looking back there was lots of jealousy there. Skin bleaching is very common in the Caribbean.

I don't know, I don't see BWE channels as very colorist. Male centered... Maybe. But to me they mention colorism when it is relevant and really hapening. You must be talking about some specific content creators
