    I'm so thankful that my mother taught me to appreciate education and cultural diversity. I am mixed with several things from both sides of my family, but I get pulled into the black category typically, so that would definitely cause issues at school when I had my own identity and even wanted to engage different parts of my culture. The "Jordans" thing was so ridiculous in high school 🤣I wouldn't buy those because I spent money on general nice clothes that I thought looked nice, focusing on going to school for education. Edit: One of the last points you made resonates so much. I feel like those people do want to feel validated in who they are. If they let past traumas keep them down, they want you to be down as well. If you break out of that box, it tends to make them upset and feel like they failed. It's the crabs in a cooking pot mentality

It gives a new perspective to life and I believe that it can help people to not fall prey to the toxic mindset in the community. It was like a cult when it came to Jordans haha 🤣 I was not into the street wear type of style. I think it’s very cute, but it just isn’t me. Exactly, misery loves company. But making ghetto culture the representation of what blackness is just 😓😓😓😓 You’re basically expected to: be uncultured, undereducated, have several kids out of wedlock, (preferably from different men), be on welfare your whole life, live in dangerous neighborhoods, be overly sexual, be overweight, be always ready to fight people, wear bonnets in public, be loud & obnoxious at all times, express yourself in a violent/aggressive manner, not know how to speak proper English & vote democrat 😑 IT’S EXHAUSTING!!!!

  • @WeMustAllStandAsOne
    @WeMustAllStandAsOne 28 днів тому

    Wow. After listening to the entire video I realize you yourself have self hate . Just listening to how you excuse light skin women and blk males but are so critical of dark/ unambiguous blk women. Why would you place all the burden of dealing with colourism on unambiguous women. That's so weird. All I hear is what Whyte people often tell blk people, "Pull yourself by the bootstrap." Are you kidding me. You want unambiguous black women to just ignore the constant media bashing (TV, social media, songs, and professional experiences) and just chalk it up to someone not having a good day. I personally think you are being intentionally obtuse. Our plight as unambiguous black women is quantifiable. Statistically proven how colorism affects not only our self-esteem and dating prospects but our lively hoods. It affects the jobs we get, essentially limiting how many of us get to achieve economic growth because opportunities are fewer for us, not just as blk women but dark/unambiguous bw. We also get longer jail sentences than lighter women because we are seen as less innocent. An example is how YOU didn't even touch on how constantly dark/unambiguous black women have to deal with colorism compared to the once in a while, a light skin girl or woman gets bullied because their light skin. You still have self hate. If you could extend that much compassion to blk males and light skin bw, the people who constantly perpetuate colorism for the world to see and later justify, but not to unambiguous black women says a lot. You act as though dark/unambiguous blk women exist in a vacuum. We ourselves perpetuate self hating sentiments just on our own. It's absolutely not because we were once innocent little children who were taught to be self hating, (through the media, friends and adult's around us) and can sometimes exhibit those self hating tendencies because of that indoctrination. I admit those channels can be little to much sometimes but if you could see the issues with those channels so clearly. Why didn't you even address the constant bombardment dark/unambiguous black women face, of how most of the world is colorist and we bear the major consequence of that because we are blk and female, in this very anti blk and very s*xist world. Are you also placing the blame dark skin bw, for blk males being able to be unambiguously blk in media and bw only being represented by biracial or light skin women. Why must bw be the "bigger person" or be placed on a higher expectation of morality in the face of clear oppression? If you were to apply everything you said in this video about colorism between bw, blk males and light skin women to the issue of raci*sm I can guarantee you that blk people will definitely classify you as anti blk, a uncle Tom or a raCoon. 🦝🦝🦝🦝. This video was basically saying, "Actually blk people, if you just ignored r*cism it wouldn't affect you. If you cry about it, I can tell you that SOME Whyte people have experienced the same from you. Black males and light skin women why are you anti black? Don't you know you are also blk?" I honestly think you sound goofy in this video, real GOOFY!

    Omg I relate to that oreo thing so much. It was purely because I read a lot of books, watched anime, wore my natural hair (which doesn't make any sense as that's literally the blackest thing you can do), and didn't live in the hood (or the "endz" as they call it here in England). I felt obligated to dumb down my speech and abandon my hobbies but no longer. :)

    I have not had someone directly try to cut off my hair but there was a few times that I went to a hairdresser (which I don't usually go to because I prefer to take care of and style my own hair) and even though her children had long 4c hair, she would rake a comb through my hair and blow dry it with high heat, no heat protectant, and when it was already dry (which makes no sense because why are you blowdrying dry hair??). I'm not a very confrontational person so I kept my mouth shut about it. I don't go anymore and I don't think that I can trust anyone else with my hair. The last time was last year and my hair has only just reach mid back again after I had to chop a lot of the damage off. :(

    I am so happy to find a small channel targeting what I have been through ! (youtube spying on me..?) I'm French and despite not having experienced any obvious racist treatment in the streets and having a supportive family, I had to experience colorism at school, bc it was a private one (predominantly white). It was not about specifically putting me down (never bullied) but always putting white, blondes, light-eyed girls on a pedestal. I started thinking "why don't I deserve that treatment ? Maybe I'd prefer be white". That was the start. Right now I'm working on my self-esteem, accepting that I might be pretty in the end, despite not noticing any male attention. I no longer cry bc I have dark brown eyes, or a round nose. It's coming together !

There’s should be more channels about how to take care of Afro hair and doing different styles instead of the self potty colourism channels. Omg 16:00 thats exactly what I said! Francesca is very pretty to me and I saw nothing wrong with her ! I think she is the definition of effortless black beauty. I posted her pic and black women were saying she was ugly and that her hair was unkempt . But because I do not have 4c hair and I don’t have these biases against it , I never viewed her as unkempt nor did I view her hair as ugly. Someone else said she had old braids which again was something I never noticed (idk what that even means. Are they trying to say she doesn’t have her edges slicked?) the internalized texturism was jumping out with people who criticized Francesca. I also thought Francesca was pretty with little to no makeup and again boom. People in my comments said she was ugly. But what about her facial features was ugly ? In my opinion she looked like a pretty unambiguous girl . I really do feel like a lot of women let their own insecurities get the best of them and they try to project their insecurities onto other women . Anyway great video !

      It’s honestly sad because even if they didn’t find her “pretty” they should have stayed on code and allow her to shine. A win for one is a win for all. She is literally a UADW playing a very feminine role. That is amazing corrective promotion in my opinion. I’m not surprised at all with the hateful hair comments. I've been told I act like I want to be white. Excuse me? Did you see me wear a blonde wig and blue eye contacts or something? Did I join the KKK? What made people think I want to be white? Just because I speak and dress well?

      Exactly, I hate that we are all expected to act the same. There seem to be no individuality in the black community. And even if you did wear a blond wig that doesn’t mean you want to be white… maybe you like the look. God knows a blond wig is a staple in a big parts of the black community so what does that even mean???

      Thank you so much for watching 💖. It’s so sad how there is a policing of how we all should act in the black community, we are all not the same. Love your channel btw.
