Zoo animals have escaped as a severe flood has hit Northeastern Nigeria. Ostrich, lion, crocodile, and snakes were found roaming in the streets. But 80% of the zoo animals killed due to the flood. The flood occurred after a state dam overflowed and collapsed due to heavy rainfall. Thousands of residents have fled their homes. Palki Sharma brings you the report.

Dear friend this was caused by a Nigerian dam and first of it kind in decades. Also we have flooding every year that is caused by another dam in the republic of Cameroon, their dam overflow every year and the water head towards northern and central Nigeria every year, the annoying thing is that they never find it necessary to warn Nigeria before it happens.
@@Kristas858 you're wrong my dear, please go into the records and confirm that your comments are incorrect. It is unfair and unjust to blame the Cameroonians for not informing the Nigerian government.
Look up David Hundeyin's expose about these floods and the part played by the Cameroonians and you will realize that the bulk of the blame rests on the Nigerian government who have over the years been warned by the Cameroonian authorities and they agreed to take steps to mitigate against the effects of the flood.
Unfortunately, steps to mitigate against such disasters in Nigeria is usually an avenue to embezzle funds.
Last year, the government budgeted about N1.5b for needed maintenance of this dam, but I'm very sure they also embezzled the funds and that's why they're very desperate to spin the narrative around and blame it on climate change
The only solution govt has for any problem in Nigeria 🇳🇬 is to share rice 🍚 or few naira notes 📝.

The authorities were aware of dam collapsing, the money allocated for the maintenance have been embezzled. They will allocate another money for victims welfare but the 90% of that money will be embezzled. Nigeria Conundrum.

The dam is actually part of the natural course of that river, which is about 20 kilometers outside the city in the report. Apart from that dam, there is a dam in neighbouring Cameroon which can flood into Nigeria. I experienced one in that same city in 1992
The government doesn't take disaster preparedness seriously. They should seek help from nations that take disaster prevention seriously and they should close the zoo permanently as they can't adequately cater for the animals in their "care".
Ideally all of Nigeria should rally around to help Borno state, but they won't. It's a pitiful situation.
