@@partycrusher yeah the ending of this new record went completely over most people's heads. She's closing an era. Kinda like the way the last 3 tracks on Lust For Life were a different vibe because that was the end of that era.
@Carlos Romero I don't think it's the taco truck specifically that makes it silly, it's the playful lyrics about the mundane things like her vape and that chorus which is very fun and silly, the song overall is a lot more light hearted than the rest of the album

You can tell these guys are true MUSIC lovers when in the same week they can appreciate the greatness of a Lana Del Rey album and a Travis Scott album.
Taco Truck x VB actually wraps up the album emotionally when she says “never die, not tonight, Lake Placid!”, cause she’s referencing an important episode of her early life, when her teenage boyfriend Aaron Greene died in car crash in Lake Placid, her hometown, so she’s eternalising her story, Aaron and her hometown at this point in a beautiful and energetic way, like everything’s fine now and will always be, and then the album ends. It’s so amazing.
@@Averyr91 Lana makes two references to Aaron Greene in Fingertips (both on the same album), confessing, 'All I wanted to do was kiss Aaron Greene' and 'Aaron ended up dead, and not me.' Additional tracks, like the unreleased I Don't Wanna Go (Lake Placid), are thought to revolve around him. Aaron Greene was Lana's teenage boyfriend, tragically lost in a car accident. Did You Know is an album that grapples with mortality. Lana addresses the deaths of several significant people, and in this particular song, she defiantly declares that she won't die, at least not tonight, punctuating the sentiment with a passionate exclamation of 'Lake Placid!'-the town of her birth and the site of Aaron's passing. It's a little bit complex, but the intricacies of this narrative become apparent through careful analysis of lyrics, interviews and examination.
Lana’s one of those artists who you can really tell she’s lived what she sings about. She feels SO hard, and it results in masterpieces like this album
I read somewhere that the album it's a tunnel itself and it makes sense! The opener song has the hope she's feeling currently and has more light to it, but once she gets into the tunnel - her inner self (track 2) everything starts to get a bit darker and introspective. That's also why the darker songs are in the middle of the album-tunnel and once you start getting to the other end, light starts to get in (reference in 'Kintsugi' and 'Let the light in' and 'Margaret'). Also, in the last song you end up in Venice Bitch (beach), out of the tunnel :) I love your videos xx
having a father who struggled his whole life with showing emotion, the honest and fearless reaction to the grants really touched me deeply. thank you. my father cried three times in 40 years. The instrumental has already existed for some time! It's "I wanted to leave" by SYML, that's why they are featured:) I get what you mean by the lullabies though!
Definitely something slavic/baltic about it...probably cos the instrumental comes from SYML who are folk. But i almost got 'Witcher 3' vibes from the song overall.

Fishtail is my favorite 🥲 the lyrics just speak to me so much, especially the chorus “for me you are the one, and if I’m not the one for you don’t you say it” oh god I’m chocked up
Also she is referencing/clapbacking the fans who wanted her to stay in a "sadder" mood when she write her songs, like they don't want her to be happy or write happy songs. That's what I get on that track. I love it so much.
For me the "dont dare say u braid my hair if u dont really care" my ex bf used to braid my hair lol. and the "sadder" part reminds me How my depression took the charge of my relationship + "for me your're the only one but i am not the onde for you" ... I was Very closed-relantionship and he were kinda open. Well. Luv this song
I can't listen to The Grants, Kintsugi, or Fingertips without crying. They're good songs, but really just so personal that it is hard to casually listen.
It's no surprise that you both got emotional at some point during Fingertips. That song is pure pain especially if you've lost someone who was really close to you. It's like you'd give anything to have that person just simply be watching tv beside you.
Not only loss but suicide mental health and possibly infertility maybe? Lots of heavy themes. The suicide and meds struck a chord for me because I’ve attempted several times and she sorta encapsulates that hopeless faded feeling you get as your desperate cry for help.
Loved it! Btw in the last track, Taco Truck x VB, she screams at the end "drop acid, never die, not tonight, Lake Placid", which is not only a reference to her beginnings, but also a reference to her su!cide attempt when she was younger, which she also mentions in Fingertips, when she says "when I was 15, naked, next-door neighbours did a drive-by pulled my up by my waist, long hair to the beachside, I wanted to go like you, swim with the fishes." I think it's kinda beautiful how she's basically saying how glad she is that she was saved and how she's not dying tonight, cool way to end an album!
It took me about 3 or 4 listens to really appreciate this album. I think it was just so dense initially that I missed a lot of the lyrics but after really taking it in I’m blown away. Great reaction fellas.
Obsessed with this album. At first it was my second favorite of hers but now I feel it’s definitely my favorite. Her evolution as a songwriter is just… 🥇
this is the best reaction video that i ever seen from this album, this is what Lana Del Reys music is about, feelings, shes always creating songs from her memories, exposing her vulnerability and letting us now that shes just a human like everybody, i think that her love and kindness is what makes her different from any other artist to date. what a beautiful project. no words.
I’ve been craving any new channels who react to music and this has hit me in the feels like I needed. Thanks for the genuine vulnerability. Crying along with you.
40:33 "When are you ever gonna be just casually listening to 'Fingertips'?" I swear this is my favorite song off the album and I have it on repeat lmaoo
I'm a 41 Yr old guy and I've loved all her music from btd till tatuob, like the guy said ,her music and voice takes you straight to her world, she's an artist like no other
this album especially let the light in is soooooooooooooooo GOOD it makes me want to cry and scream bc i feel so happy that i got to hear the songs during my time on earth You NEED to show your dad ultraviolence
You have great editing skills, Conner! You really capture the most essential parts of the song, and the conversation is always entertaining. I love the connection you and your dad have. Favorite UA-cam channel ❤️
This has gotta be Lana’s most artistic and personal album to date. I think its more in line with her age. She’s abandoned any alter egos from the past and she’s just being Elizabeth Grant.
It's crazy how the dad understood the meaning behind every song on his first listen. Ocean Blvd is definitely Lana's most dense and complex album lyrically and almost inscrutable. A definite future classic
Great reaction! The final 3 songs do actually sum up the point of the album though. It’s a journey through a tunnel - it takes us through the darkness and pain and into the lightness and fun. The lyrics and production throughout the whole album reflect this. The final track calling back to her past (Venice Bitch) is intentional as its like referring back through the tunnel of her life (she shouts ‘Lake Placid’ in the final few minutes - literally where she comes from - so a direct reference to her past) and it sounds like its being shouted into a tunnel. The first track is about her heritage and family and legacy (Grant is her real surname and family name) and the last track calls back to this by referencing her origin and place she grew up and also samples a song from her back catalog that's a big part of her legacy. The album itself is like a journey through a literal tunnel and a metaphorical life tunnel. It’s genius.
perfecttttttt summary! and also I think the more emotional songs in the middle of the album are her "2 seconds to cry", and referencing VB at the end is her going back to her Lana persona again.
Kintsugi was inspired by a famous Leonard Cohen quote: there's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. That insight made me appreciate the song so much more, knowing that Lana took that metaphore and essentially made it her own with Kintsugi. The structure in the song is so amazing as well. Really my favorite track on the album
The Japanese art of kintsugi, which means “golden joinery,” can be traced back to 15th century China when an officer in the military sent back a tea bowl for repairs. It was returned to him, patched up and completely usable. The Japanese quickly caught hold of the idea, and improved on it by adding the powdered gold to the lacquer.
kintsugi is about 3 of Lana’s closest family members dying. Seeing them on their deathbeds she’s thinking more than ever about having kids and a life partner. It’s also about her guilt of not spending more time with them because of her career.
I'm starting to realise that I'm watching you guys more because of the brilliant relationship you have with each other, I find myself so envious you guys can sit there and talk openly and thoroughly about your experiences with these songs.
Man! I’ve never seen any of your videos before but I’m a massive Lana fan so I fell on this and I just LOVE your dad! He is so awesome. The way he’s in touch with his emotions and how he just shows his vulnerability and how he’s so natural and cusses spontaneously but also in a very heartfelt way. I wish I could hang out with him. I wish my dad was like him, I would have had a much better life (and I do love my life now!)
I find it very interesting how albums can affect people differently. I was not a huge fan of this album, but it is fascinating listening to someone that took things away from it that I didn't.
I listened to this album on my run the other night. It's not the typical kind of tempo that is good for running being mostly ballads, but it's so compelling that I had a very good run while listing through the whole thing. Beautiful collection of moving songs on this one.
I love what you guys said about the first verse in A&W. This album felt completely new and not like other lana album’s, but still had the same lana vibe. It shows she has moved on into a new stage in life and i adore her new sound!
Glad you think that, but this album felt very similar to her last 3 for me. Songs like Candy Necklace had the same issue as some of the more minimalistic piano ballads on Blue Banisters.
When I listen Kintsugi, the lyrics “the lights gets in” just like my grandfather passed away, but I think he has launched a new life in the another world 😢😢, the feeling is complicated but so warm which it can release myself into sadness
@@GARYDOS THANK YOU. Finally someone gets it. That album has truly god awful songwriting and vocals and the production isn’t even that good (way too washed out and reverb heavy).

Many men are discouraged from displaying and talking about their emotions. That's toxic af. I hope you know that you are such a beautiful, positive influence to your viewers. Thank you ❤
I love the fact that your dad is sooo connected to the music, like already in the first track he cried. It's wonderful, i think you guys and especially Kevin feels music like Existentialism. Like Kendrick on GOOD KID MAAD CITY & Mr Morale. That the songs are so situation related. When Kevin always talks about his past, how he associates it with his father, his friends... and so on... I dont understand how people dont connect to fishtail. The lyrics - "for me you are the one and if im not the one for you dont you say it". Masterpiece!
It's a bit of an odd one out and feels a bit like a bonus track to me. It reminds me of her older songs so I personally like it but I can see why others don't
It’s funny that Fishtail to me is one of my top favorite tracks in the album and it’s the one that resonated with you the least, and the way that it has that echoey sound that is typically used to represent being in the water or in the ocean… love it.

I love the dad, he has such a love for music. He comments on the reverb and actual sound of the songs. Its fantastic reaction content!
Obsessed with this album. At first it was my second favorite of hers but now I feel it’s definitely my favorite. Her evolution as a songwriter is just… 🥇
more than NFR?
@@chajam for me yes
@@chajam agreed, NFR built the world and Ocean Boulevard explores how she felt inside it. The vulnerability in this record is astounding.
@@ewanoxborrow1024that exacly how i feel
@@chajamI love NFR to death and thought she could never top it… but she may have in the album. Or at least she has come very close
this is the best reaction video that i ever seen from this album, this is what Lana Del Reys music is about, feelings, shes always creating songs from her memories, exposing her vulnerability and letting us now that shes just a human like everybody, i think that her love and kindness is what makes her different from any other artist to date. what a beautiful project. no words.
I’ve been craving any new channels who react to music and this has hit me in the feels like I needed. Thanks for the genuine vulnerability. Crying along with you.
This album just really is….something special. Its so…heartwarming and beautiful. Makes me cry. Even the badas part in A&W is so beautiful.
40:33 "When are you ever gonna be just casually listening to 'Fingertips'?" I swear this is my favorite song off the album and I have it on repeat lmaoo
That's some quality father-son bonding time. I'm jealous...
There is something just so poetic about a father crying to Lana Del Rey and I’m not completely sure why lol
I'm a 41 Yr old guy and I've loved all her music from btd till tatuob, like the guy said ,her music and voice takes you straight to her world, she's an artist like no other
A Björk reaction would be incredible, particularly Vespertine would be a very interesting one for your dad to listen to!
I second this!
Absolutely need this
God - Vespertine !
Yes def
oh my gosh yess i commented this same thing a different video
It's official, I need a reaction to every lana album now...
this album especially let the light in is soooooooooooooooo GOOD it makes me want to cry and scream bc i feel so happy that i got to hear the songs during my time on earth
You NEED to show your dad ultraviolence
You have great editing skills, Conner! You really capture the most essential parts of the song, and the conversation is always entertaining. I love the connection you and your dad have. Favorite UA-cam channel ❤️
thank you :')
This has gotta be Lana’s most artistic and personal album to date. I think its more in line with her age. She’s abandoned any alter egos from the past and she’s just being Elizabeth Grant.
Fishtail grew on me after listening to it a lot and now it’s my favourite off the album
Her subreddit talks so much about VB that it barely feels like a “track in her back catalog”. They talk about it like it’s one of her biggest hits.
@@prettierjesus3119 VB is one of her best songs to date, my favorite from NFR
Kintsugi was inspired by a famous Leonard Cohen quote: there's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in.
That insight made me appreciate the song so much more, knowing that Lana took that metaphore and essentially made it her own with Kintsugi. The structure in the song is so amazing as well. Really my favorite track on the album
Mine too!!
Leonard got it from Rumi. Both gods.
@@Raeangel2 That's amazing, I didn't know
From his song Anthem
kintsugi is about 3 of Lana’s closest family members dying. Seeing them on their deathbeds she’s thinking more than ever about having kids and a life partner. It’s also about her guilt of not spending more time with them because of her career.
I'm at that stage in my life 😶
I knew this album was amazing on first listen but after a while, I think it might have surpassed NFR as my favorite Lana album 😌✨
I'm starting to realise that I'm watching you guys more because of the brilliant relationship you have with each other, I find myself so envious you guys can sit there and talk openly and thoroughly about your experiences with these songs.
I'm crying again... this time with you, guys. I looove this album, Lana is a great author, her lyrics are so deep, I can't stop crying 😭
The ending of this album is a nostalgic catharsis for her. Surprises me when people miss this or dont feel that at all, especiallg with the last track
Let the light in hits the soul hardest . It’s so beautiful sounding
cried on the first listen. i didn't think it before but this might be her best album yet
i absolutely didn't expect you choose this album to react with your dad, but anything with Lana. i love it❤
Such a genuine reaction from your dad 😭 loved this vid
Yesss we need more Lana reactions!!
I think this might be my favorite Lana record alongside Honeymoon. It’s just raw and honest and vulnerable.
I wish my dad was like him, I would have had a much better life (and I do love my life now!)
me too! his father seems absolutely lovely and it’s making me a bit envious lol
I find it very interesting how albums can affect people differently. I was not a huge fan of this album, but it is fascinating listening to someone that took things away from it that I didn't.
I totally agree with you!
I forced myself to listen to it over n over again and I'm loving it more and more
I listened to this album on my run the other night. It's not the typical kind of tempo that is good for running being mostly ballads, but it's so compelling that I had a very good run while listing through the whole thing. Beautiful collection of moving songs on this one.
This was hands down the best reaction video I’ve seen. The reactions were genuine and the comments were spot on. Your dad is awesome
@@prettierjesus3119 Candy necklace is high tier tho'. This album is mostly formed by songs that have the nature of a CLASSIC
Love Lana. it's incredible that someone writes, composes and sings so well. definitely ahead of its time. very intelligent and simple wow
this is definitely album of the year for me so far
When I listen Kintsugi, the lyrics “the lights gets in” just like my grandfather passed away, but I think he has launched a new life in the another world 😢😢, the feeling is complicated but so warm which it can release myself into sadness
Love how everybody reacts to The Grants, it packs a PUNCH
this album is truly her best next to nfr and ultraviolence 😍
Nawt Ultrasound 💀
Nfr and honeymoon*
Ultraviolence is her worst 😕
@@GARYDOS babe you’re objectively wrong
@@GARYDOS THANK YOU. Finally someone gets it. That album has truly god awful songwriting and vocals and the production isn’t even that good (way too washed out and reverb heavy).
This is a whole new level for me, where I get emotional watching someone else get emotional by a music record ❤
Honestly, this is so golden.
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS GUYS REALLY. Honest and Authentic.
Dad: She could be singing the Red Robin restaurant menu and I’d still be crying!
We love Dad!!!!!!
dude Lana Del Rey. My fking god. what an amazing songwriter u are. i hope she knows SHE DID THAT.
Lana' is very soulful.She doesn't rush the music.Amazing gal.❤
Omg Lana alway makes me cry and now your dad made me 😢 cry. It touched my feelings.
Everyone who has already lost someone important can relate to this album
🥲
I get patreon just for this. I started listening to Lana del rey after your reaction to Norman fucking rockwell. thank you, for bringing her amazing music to me.
❤
I dont understand how people dont connect to fishtail.
The lyrics - "for me you are the one and if im not the one for you dont you say it". Masterpiece!
I think the same. Every review I saw, people didn't like fishtail and its one of my favorites.
It's a bit of an odd one out and feels a bit like a bonus track to me. It reminds me of her older songs so I personally like it but I can see why others don't
Have you guys done Ultraviolence?? If not pleaseee do it’s a must, hauntingly beautiful!
always love seeing his dad react to lana! 💕
Watching these videos is seriously therapeutic to watch. Good music, healthy father son bonding, genuine feels and genuine emotions. I love it so much
It’s funny that Fishtail to me is one of my top favorite tracks in the album and it’s the one that resonated with you the least, and the way that it has that echoey sound that is typically used to represent being in the water or in the ocean… love it.
My fav one too! I just feel it in my heart 😭😭
That one’s strictly for the girls who yearn
this album feels so personal and I listen to it at nighttime.. can't wait to see how Kevin reacts to the songs!!
awwwe the way he reacted to the first track 😭 I feel him oh god
Yeah ive never really listened to Lana i have to admit. Having watched this i sat down and listened to this album. What a truly beautiful piece of work. Reminded me very much in places of Martha Wainwright. Thanks for introducing this to me. Much much love
I love how I vibed to peppers and fishtail more and are some of my fav tracks from the her album , I love how music sounds different to all
my lovely grandmother passed away 1 month ago at her 87 years and fingertips was like a dagger in my heart, i can relate with your dad, sometimes i feel like she’s by my side or she still in her room bcs she was paralyzed in bed since january i forget that she is not in home anymore and everything feels so lonely, i love lana, her voice, instrumentation and lyrics, everything is amazing.
i cried with you guys. i love the bond that you two share. This is all so special
I’m in love with the way Lana is progressing and exploring her art. This album is gorgeous, and there’s something for anyone to connect with. The last two song are like an explosion of fun and joy, truly the catharsis I needed. Let the Light In is on repeat currently. Such a great vibe❤️. Thank you guys for your authentic reactions to great music. I would love to see Deftones, if you’re into that
I've been a fan of Lana since 2012 and I love her music, but I had never cried with a song of hers. The Grants was the first one, so I understand your dad.
the last three songs took me some time to get into after the rest of the album but they’re sooo good and it’s like she goes to the end of the tunnel and into the light with those tracks, more carefree
Her voice brings the same feelings to me. She takes me to all these places and eras
