As a new (to me) Prius owner, I'd like to thank y'all for making these videos. I'll definitely be purchasing parts from 1A!

Great tutorial. I bought your part and did mine in my back yard with no power tools. I had a stubborn rotor (you should show that instead of just tapping it and it falling off.) I'd say including jacking up the car, getting all the stuff out and including the rusted on rotor and a test drive I took my time and I was finished in under 3 hours. Total cost including buying a few tools (like the spindle socked and some chemicals) I spent about $115 and saved probably several hundred bucks. Thank you!

The shop I just went to have the weird noise checked which gets worse as the speed increases said it is the wheel bearing and not the cheap tires I placed. They are asking $1700 parts and labor. So thank you , thank you for the video. As a guy with the cordless impact wrench and socket, your video gives me a full confidence that I could do this job.

Living in Northeast Pennsylvania; I can only hope it only takes a few swings with a little sledgehammer to free my hub assembly. Lol. Thanks for the top notch video

Thank you for the video. The camera placement was good, and the explanation was totally complete. The parts requirement was also fulfilled, including the Anti-Seize Grease. Thank you for everything.

I don't think removing the caliper from the caliper bracket was necessary, but all the other information was good. Looks like a very simple job, I'm used to the stupid press in wheel bearings. Thanks.

To the experience, no. To the novice, maybe/probably
Nothing wrong with adding in additional steps for the newbies.

Living in upstate NY, my wheel bearing did not come off that easy. It was a major pain to remove.

Forgot to mention to spray the axle threads with WD 40 or PB blaster and check to see if the nut has been staked in the groove. If it is, UNSTAKE the axle nut BEFORE removing it.
You were lucky and got away with it without buggerring up the threads on the axle.
Unless you are planning on selling your Prius within 25k or so miles, DO NOT buy these TRQ hubs.
Spend the extra $$ and get the KOYO hubs for around $460 a set. Do not buy them from a stealership. Koyo is the OEM supplier of these hubs to Toyota. DO NOT reuse the axle nuts if they were previously staked. Buy new ones.
Ask me how I know and Thank me later.....you're welcome.

You have a bunch of videos for the 2009-2015 Prius. Don't you mean 2010-2015? The 2009 is the last of the second generation.

Not that I know more than you (I don't) but i learned you can use a bungee cord to hold the caliper on the strut while you do this so it doesn't fall

This should be the same for a 2015 CT200h right? They're pretty much the same car mechanically from what I understand...

Any difference between this procedure and 04-09 prius? Torque specs any different? Forgive me if you have a video of the 2nd Gen prius, youtube app doesn't let me search within a channel (or I don't see how to do it).

How do you check if it's bad or going bad, Jack it up and place in neutral?

    • @frankrial586
      @frankrial586 Рік тому +2

you can start by jacking up the car, move the wheel from top to bottom or left to right for any loose play if so then its a bad wheel bearing. other ways would be to listen for howling grinding while driving. if its really bad then the wheel wont even rotate. hope that helps!

How about a slide hammer? They come with lug nut fasteners so you can Hammer pull a roter or hub.
