Dan's new bonsai pot securing technique will help to keep your bonsai and their pots safe and secure - especially during wind, snow , and possible theft!
Great! I’m so happy that you post videos. Your book The Bonsai book got me hooked many years ago. The climate in Finland is a bummer though, but I dig my homemade pots to the ground in autumn and they survive the cold winter. Thank you for everything you’ve done for the whole Bonsai community all through the years! Cheers from Finland!
I found you and am so thankful. I live in Istanbul and have just bought my husband a bonsai for valentines day. 2022. I explained to him that because its bought from a gift place that I need to get it healthy first before I let him take it to work for his office. It needs tender loving care first. I'm 40 years old and since watching karate kid film with Mr.Miyage as a very young 8 year old girl,I've always been interested in bonsai and it's art and meaning of looking after it. I have never bought a bonsai thinking I will never do it justice like Mr.Miyage. But finally at age 40...it is time. I am choosing to buy a bonsai compost and do I just need bonsai compost? Or do I buy normal compost and add tiny stones in it? Everyone says different things. I am also looking to buy a new dish. Ceramic is best with drainage holes? In Turkey it is rare to find such dishes. I'm searching. Seeing your how to make a pot video makes me want to hand make one myself. What do you do after you make one using clay. Can I use air dry clay? And put it in my.oven would that work?
Hello Nuray and thanks for your kind comments. I'm pleased to hear that you have bought a bonsai for your husband but be careful as bonsai should be kept outdoors so I don't think your husband's office would be a good idea. See if you can find a bonsai society in your area that you can join and they will be able to help you and explain about composts (soil) etc,
Your skills are very impressive,do you have family or friends who you have been able to train and teach them too? These skills are priceless and am so lucky to have found su h skills. Handmade is everything for me as I myself am a creative old soul. Always love to hand make things. I wish you health and peace
