Guess ishowspeed will also understand that once cause Ronaldo is not the best if Messi is in the room he is not even the 2nd best of all time that place belongs to Ronaldinho Cruyff Pele so basically he is not even in top 5 of all time. No offence but Ronaldo was just unlucky he was born in same time as Messi if he was born 10-15 years earlier. He would definitely be the most dominant player in that era unstoppable as hell

Messi is praised in the football world not only for his technical skills, but also for his behavior off the field, never getting into the trouble that one usually sees in this type of celebrity. He made me and many Brazilians support Argentina (our historic rival) in this World Cup just because of him. Lionel Messi retiring without a World Cup trophy would be a disaster for the sport. Cr7 is a truly great player, he really is one of the best to ever pull on a shirt. His athleticism is astounding, the longevity, his hunger for trophys, goals and records is unrivalled...............but Messi is just not from this planet, when you watch him play at his best he is just mesmerising, you watch in awe of what he is doing, the dribbling, the close control, the body feints, the range and weight of passing and the outrageous amount of goals, the sheer amount of trophys he has won individually and collectively.
Messi makes other players look like amateurs on a regular basis, he's so good he makes it look easy. Imo he is the best there has ever been and I don't see how anyone will ever match him.

It was a stoppage time winner against Real Madrid at their homeground.

As an Argentine, I feel completely lucky to have witnessed both Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi.
Some will say that Messi just walks around the field, that he doesn't run.
If you look closely, he is thinking, calculating, measuring his opponents, looking for his weaknesses. His head turned from side to side, looking for the best spaces. He's a tactician...and when he finds the sweet spot, he just coordinates the game with his teammates.
Not only goals, free kicks or penalties... Mbappè, Ronaldo... they will never be up to par. He definitely is the GOAT.

and the real thing is that he would have cleared even more record by now if it wasnt for ronaldo, imagine having the 2nd best player of all time in the same era with you, tbh although G.O.A.T debate ended and messi is clear of all footballers in existence, ronaldo is still closer to messi than any other footballer, if ballon dor was fair and both of them achieved the things they did in different eras, ronaldo and messi would be clear of all footballer with 10 and 12 ballon dors each, the reason im telling this is cuz u said ronaldo will never be up to par with him lol, the fact that ronaldo still outperformed messi in certain seasons show that he was on that quality for alot of time, although its clear than ronaldo have been runner up more times with messi winning individual trophies, ronaldo still made messi a runner up multiple times too
the ballon dor robbery questioning for 2013 and 2015 is literally disaproved by the fact that ronaldo came runner up over neymar in 2015 and messi came runner up in 2013 over ribery, messi and ronaldo both are more relative than you actually think, tbh if they were both in different eras the goat debate will still be up, respect both for their greatness, people forget that messi isnt even up the level he used to be and neither is ronaldo when the world cup slander for ronaldo is happening. although i used to be a ronaldo fan, messi clearly won now but saying they rnt close is a straight up lie bud

If there is one thing I have learned from watching Messi play football it's that "flow state" is a real thing. This man has ultra instinct, mushin, whatever you wanna call it. When he starts to dribble he doesn't think about moving, he just moves. Always toward the goal. Defenders can't predict his movements because he doesn't know where he's gonna move, he doesn't make decisions to predict. We’ll see elite players again, Mbappe scored a literal hat trick in the final, but never and I hope to never see a player like Messi again. Will make Messi that much more special.

Here is the voice of an Argentinian who has followed Lionel Messi for a while. It isn't because he's the best at doing tricks and dodging that I say "he's the best". No. Messi has had lots of criticism and hate during a large period of time while playing for Argentina. Every time Argentina played in League Matches, we would easily be beaten, even with Messi showing off. Messi has fought for countless tournaments and there was even a huge chance he was going to quit AFA (Argentine Football Association) because he thought he brought bad luck to our team and that he just "couldn't perform as well". Until 2021. That is when Argentina broke the streak of "bad luck at tournaments". Argentina won the Copa América, and Messi decided to stay in Argentina a little while longer. He fought past the criticism and gave it all for Argentina, and now he has given us, his country, our Third World Cup. The man has given everything for this sport and his people. That is why he is the best. Not only is he an absolute freak on the field, he doesn't even do it for him.

Europe has always been where the money flows more, however it was not the place with better football overall in the 50's and 60's. South America was at least as great. Like it would be today if all the great argentinians, brazilians uruguayans, etc, of today played there, and also if you rule out the african players, asians, immigrant descendents, so on. Today football in europe is also better because of superior training facilities, physical science, technology, etc, but that was not the case back in the 60's. Second, Pele was literally prohibited from leaving Brazil, he first was conscripted for the army at 18 y.o. as a way to keep him in Brazil, then he was declared national treasury by the government as an act of law. So it is not his fault he didn't play in europe.

    • @wonjubhoy

Pele tore Europeans to shreds. He scored a hattrick against France in the 1958 world cup semi final and 2 goals against Sweden in the world cup final at the age of 17. In 1962 and 1963 Pele's club team Santos destroyed benfica and AC Milan, both of whom were European champions, to win the world club championship. In 1970 Pele destroyed Italy in the world cup final by scoring and providing 2 assists in Brazil's 4-1 victory. South American is where the best footballers were between 1958 and 1970, not Europe.

IMHO, There is no question that Messi is the best to have played the game. His touch on the ball, his vision of the angles of the game, and his sense of the flow of the game are unsurpassed.
Ronaldo is great too. In a dead sprint, he is faster that Messi, and his shot is probably more powerful. He is in general more powerful, and he's taller, so he's better in the air, if anything because he gets more chances. But Messi more than makes up for that.
Here's my theory: growing up, Messi had a hormone deficiency that stunted his growth. If anything, it worked to his advantage in developing his skills. With a lower center of gravity, he was able to stop and change directions on a dime, kind of like Barry Sanders. Messi's short, pinwheeling stride made him quick and explosive, with fantastic acceleration. You see it constantly in videos of his younger years -- he gets a little bit of daylight and he's gone.
It also contributes to an element of surprise in many of his shots, which seem to come out of nowhere. Every other player, like Ronaldo, when they shoot, you sense that they are "winding up." You often see a hop, a couple of steps, then a long stride and then the shot. It gives defenders a chance to block it. Messi's shots often seem to come out of nowhere. Goalies and defenders are caught flat-footed. In slo-mo, you see he often does take a slightly longer stride into his shot, but it's not much. He generates power simply by churning his legs, the same way he runs.
But of course he also worked at it. He had a lot of injuries and health problems in his youth and worked to overcome them. As he older, he got really strong, so if he bodies up against taller opponents, he could shoulder them off the ball. After all, his shoulder will be digging into his rival's chest, so he has leverage, just like linemen in the NFL try to get under each other, or sumo wrestlers. The fact that he can maintain control of the ball while doing all that is, well, part of the "magic."
That's his physical attributes, but on top of that is simply his brain and his vision. He sees things that no other players see. He "nutmegs" (plays the ball between the legs of his opponents) so many players, field players as well as goalies, and he does it at full speed. It might be that his shorter height helps him there, since he can see those gaps as they form. He'll loft the ball over the goalie into the goal. That takes great touch, but mostly it takes a lot of audacity just to try it. The creativity is incredible.
His shot is powerful enough, but it's his accuracy that's really impressive. He can curve the ball with great precision. (I wonder about this last World Cup though, because I didn't see that many wildly curving shots, not from Messi nor from anyone else. Does anyone know whether the ball they used was smoother, thus less likely to curve?) So he'll curl shots into the corner of the goal, or make long, hooking passes that reach his teammates on a dead run. It's kind of like Joe Montana throwing a perfectly lofted pass between linebackers and defensive backs and hitting Jerry Rice in stride. Not easy to even see, much less do.
There's a huge heart in that little man too, an incredible competitive drive.
It was great to see him win the Cup.

The amount of solo goals, 5 players dribbles, 50 meter dashes with all kind of nutmegs and direction changes, were astonishing. That was the "pure Messi" era. Then he evolved more into a playmaker, that still did all of that, but more occasionally. If you get any of Messi's games from season 2011-2012, it is a highlights reel on itself. He scored in almost every game, and many times more than 1 goal.
    Crazy.

I'm consistently more impressed by his dribbling and passing than I am by his goals. For me, he could finish his career with 1/10th as many goals, so, 80 instead of 800, and I'd still say he's the GOAT.
Also, for anybody who doesn't know, perhaps some Yanks who aren't fans, the reason Messi points to the sky every time he scores is because his now deceased Grandmother is the one who got him into football when his Mother said she didn't want him to play because he'd get hurt due to his size... That's the kind of guy Messi is. Never forgets what's truly important. You honestly couldn't ask for a better role model in all of football.

9:30 that celebration is famous for 2 reasons:
    1) that’s his career 500th goal
    2) that goal levels points difference with Real Madrid who were at the top of the table. Us winning the game took Barcelona in the same point as Madrid. That’s when the League got interesting. What a way to score 500th goal

Also, was the first time Real Madrir lost a game in additional time at Bernabeu Stadium in history, and of course it was in a Clasico, was the second goal from Messi to settle the 3 to 2 final score. (Messi is not even the player with more goals in Clasico*s history, he also scored more goals in clasicos played at Bernabeu Stadium than any player of Real Madrid),slds

Messi is clearly phenomenal even to people who don't really know much about football. To those of us that do, he's simply incredible. Pele, Maradona, Zidane, Ronaldo etc, all incredible players. But Messi is just from another planet. Its been a privilege just been around and at a similar age to watch his career from here in the UK. Just wish I could have seen him live when he played in the Barcelona team with Xavi Alonso and Andre Iniesta, that was some team.

i think football comes natural to messi, where others have to work years for he was born with. I met someone like that before in basketball, when you play against these players, it feels different, they are not just good, they are not just faster stronger or more agile, they are different, it almost feels like you are not playing a human, and no matter how hard you try, there is nothing you can do if they play well

    • @goose5996
      @goose5996 Рік тому +3

The best way I can describe it is however good other players are, when I try to defend them I can see I made them work, some works hard, some very little, some takes more time, some take less, to respond to my defending and get pass. but for this guy no matter what I do or how hard I try I can't even slow him down. Do you understand how frustrating and supernatural that feels? you know you can't stop him so you put in your best and he get past you without losing speed, completely at his pace and with ease? It is so obvious he didn't have to try at all. Not just with me, he does this to EVERYONE. It's like he brought a gun to a fist fight, everyone needs to work to get punches in, but him? bang you're dead

There have been players who are naturally talented as Messi or more than him. He has worked his socks off for more than two decades. The effort is seen in how he evolved as a playmaker and yet scoring goals for fun! Yes, there is an alien quality to him but that does not mean he does not put in the effort. So many from Barcelona and other clubs are lost in oblivion coz of their lack of discipline. Messi just eliminated what held him back and just got better. Also, in a team game, he acknowledges others for every victory but never blames them in defeat.

You should react to Pelé, deceased this week at 82. He won his first World Cup at age 17 and is the only one to have won 3 out of 4 World Cups as a player. Zagallo is the only other that has 3 titles, but the last was as the coach of 1970’s Brazil squad, arguably the best national team ever.
Pelé did everything Messi does, but back then the conditions were harder gear and pitch wise, and traveling all around was not so fast, nor so comfortable. Not to mention that sports nutrition, physical therapy, physical training and sports medicine evolved hugely, allowing players to develop their skills much easier and lasting longer on the fields.
Pelé is the second highest scorer in football history in official games, scoring 765 goals in 812 matches, and a total of 1283 goals in 1363 games that include unofficial friendlies, a Guinness world record.
He had a 21 years long professional career, from 16 to 36 years old.
His name got known all over the world in an era when even television broadcasting was not ubiquitous and has become even an adjective for those who achieve greatness in their fields, getting to be called the “Pelés” of this or that activity.
