Good grief! For those that may not know, this is the drummer for the original Christopher Cross recording made in 1979. Thanks for LLB and to Tommy for making this happen as it's a marvelously faithful rendition of the song.
Oh my goodness. This is SO cool. This crew does such good work, and to have the original drummer present along with a string arrangement are features consistent with their excellence. 👍💪
You know, there's something particularly captivating about music played with INTENT. Don't get me wrong, I love emotive improvisation- when a guitarist cuts loose with a solo based on feel, it's an amazing thing - but a performance like this, where everyone is locked in and "understands the assignment" as a tribute to the original, is genuinely special.
So, I'm 64 years old and just had to go wipe my eyes and blow my nose so I could see well enough to type this comment. In my opinion this is, with the possible exception of a Boston tune, your finest rendition of anything you have done over the many years I've been following you all. The kids have got to be over the moon with being invited to this gig...and they all knocked it out of the park! I am constantly amazed at how you always seem to find the correct way to compress your mics, just the right amp sounds, the strings you choose for the right sound...you all just kill me with this skill set! I know that for you all, this is just for fun and self-enjoyment, but I have to say THANK YOU for the talents you share with us all. I live in Appalachia, and right now this is exactly what we need to help calm our nerves and escape even if it's just for a few minutes. Thanks, gang!....and thanks, Tommy!!!

As I have said, "Sailing" has become something more than we ever dreamed it would. Imagine, The Beatles as your beginning and reason for embarking on a path as a pre teen. You find out years later from an assistant engineer to Lee DiCarlo who engineered "Double Fantasy" that a record you played on, "Sailing," was his favorite record. That information pretty much saved my life one day, when things were falling apart on another record date. To be able to recreate this with The Lexington Lab Band was an otherworldly experience for me. Of course, I never played it live in the studio with all of this instrumentation. We tracked bass, drums, one guitar and piano. We only played it with live strings on a handful of occasions. 45 years have come and gone since a just turned 22 year old kid ventured into Warner Amigo Studios in Burbank with next to no experience to create what would become one of the classic songs of generations. When I think of those days, I see my entire life pass before me...and truly tracking this it was hard to concentrate above the influx of memories. I love this so much! The young string players were incredible! Everyone who worked on this from LLB are just over the top with greatness. I can't thank the group enough for the privilege of contributing to this finery. No one comes close to this....Not even Chris!

Chris Cross has to be extremely happy that the Lexington Lab Band has faithfully and accurately covered a song that he worked so hard on. And kudos to Tommy Taylor for his helping bring back such a great song that he worked on. Lexington Lab has never disappointed !!
Just heard an interview with Christopher. That orchestra intro was a flub in the studio. It wasnt supposed to happen. And it turned into one of the most beloved parts of the song. Kudos to the High School orchestra. As much as I love LLB and Tommy Taylor.....I think more noise should be made about these kids. It was beautiful. Absolutely perfect. Awesome as always, y'all. And good job on the strings and bows, ladies and gents! Mr. Jim, you played that bass part to a T - I was waiting on that lick in the third verse, because I knew it from memory, and you nailed it. Good job, fellow musicians!
My brother told me about this band/video...and I am so glad I watched it!!! Fantastic!!! I am awestruck!! I can't believe how great this band is!!! Pure Perfection!!! Great choice of songs!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩
I've heard that smell is a very powerful stimulus for the brain. For me, it's sound -- the sound of music. It transports me back through time and space to where I first heard it. This album was the first vinyl album I bought when I was still in high school (I was a senior in '79 when this came out). I have no idea how many times I listened to it. I dubbed a cassette copy of it so I could have it in the car with me. It is part of the permanent soundtrack of my life. This performance brought tears to my eyes. It was just perfect. And as a band and orchestra member in high school, I'd like to say to these fine young musicians that they should be very proud.
Why do I love this band? Because they stay as true as possible to the original songs. And then throw in the original drummer...perfection !!! Great job guys !!
Oh Good Lord, that was perfect. There are only 4 phenomenal tribute bands I know of and you all are trading for that number one spot. Today, it's the LLB who takes the number one spot. Tommy is looking and sounding great too.
I was 7-8 when this song came out. At that point in my life, I really didn’t have many good memories for plenty of reasons. Hearing this as an older adult, man I tell you… there’s something about it that I can’t truly describe. Only thing I know is it’s good stuff. Now I never say “oh this thing is perfect” etc but I tell you, this performance is PERFECT! LLB - I give you a HUGE standing O from the Bay Area!
I'm sitting here, recently diagnosed with cataracts, high blood pressure, and a sore shoulder after a fall, and I've been feeling a bit down at times. This rendition by the entire group of musicians is probably better than any medication. Thank you so much. ❤ Keep doing what you do so well. It's a God-given talent and certainly a gift from our Creator. Much continued success to all!

The canvas really can do miracles. And so can LLB...
❤Beautiful takes me to a great time in my life. Miss that time. I was a newlywed we played that song a lot. We were everything to each other. We could be in a room filled with people and it was like we were the only ones. Thank for the memory. Made my night.😊😊
The lead singer is spot on! As is everyone else. Just beautiful.
"The lead singer was fantastic!" Michael Omartian - Original Producer.
So am I the only one who hears "trapility" or "trability" at 00:47 instead of "tranquility"?
How true that song is! I know as a sailor! Thank you guys and girls!
Absolutely beautiful! I'm appreciating the present but fondly remember the past. Thank you all!
Oh wow! Excellent!
Note for note! Again, excellent!
Bravo Lab. Can’t wait to welcome you this November 10 in Tucson for Rockin4Heroes!
Awesome as always, y'all. And good job on the strings and bows, ladies and gents! Mr. Jim, you played that bass part to a T - I was waiting on that lick in the third verse, because I knew it from memory, and you nailed it. Good job, fellow musicians!
@@lowbridgenc Andy Salmon, the original bassist, agrees!
@@TommyTaylorOfficial - Awesome job, of course, on the sticks and skins yourself!
My brother told me about this band/video...and I am so glad I watched it!!! Fantastic!!! I am awestruck!! I can't believe how great this band is!!! Pure Perfection!!! Great choice of songs!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩
Wonderful! I hit like as soon as I saw the little orchestra. Yacht rock forever!!
thanks to Rob Pottorf's contributions! LLB is lucky to have him as a contributor.
That was a beautiful touch having the kiddos this time! They were amazing!
This is one of the most enjoyable songs to listen to in the world.
Hugs from Brazil!🇧🇷
Same for me. A song always brings me back to a certain point in time when I first heard it.
Wow what an amazing rendition of the classic song. Great job everyone especially those adorable children playing the string section. ❤️
One word for this, before i praise the Youth orchester. Brilliant
LLB never ceases to amaze, kudos to getting children/young folks involved w this masterpiece; music and the instrumentality
Once again, Excellent job. You nailed the melody and Chris's vocal nuances!
The Bass player is my road through this amazing rendition.
Why do I love this band? Because they stay as true as possible to the original songs. And then throw in the original drummer...perfection !!! Great job guys !!
I have been praying for you guys to do this cover Awsome as always
Simply superb. Impeccable musical reproduction. Congratulations to all!
I’m back in the 80’s and I’m in my 20’s once again. Those young musicians were awesome! Great song and a another great cover by LLB!
The incredible strength of this song is its restraint, lyrically, musically.
Amazing talents on that stage! Bravo!
