The refitted Constitution class from the original cast movies is my personal favorite. Hell, the crew loved the ship so much they refused to decommission it when they were ordered to, and instead took it for one last all-night cruise. That was a beautiful scene.
Lovely video, and a great soundtrack. Thanks for taking the time to produce this Rashaed; I enjoyed watching/listening to it. Some might bicker about the choice of ranking. Fine; let them make their OWN video's. The great thing about being Producer/Editor, is that you get to highlight YOUR personal ranking, and you never have to explain/justify it.
Starting at around 3:45, I couldn't stay properly focused on the picture, because I got gradually more and more immersed in the fantastic guitar solo. :-) Beautiful!!!!
Excellent work! My top 10 in no particular order are Excelsior, Sovereign, Ambassador, Galaxy, Constitution Refit, Defiant, Akira, Constitution Original, Miranda, and Nebula.
Cool little video, and I like you overall rankings. Especially since the "Emperess of the Galaxy' is in her appointed place in number 1. Cool mix of stills and video.
Respect your choice.Every 1's different.I love all ship designs but for me the Constitution Refit will always be my favourite design but the original Constitution, being the 1st will always have a special place in my heart.Live Long and Prosper to All!!
I agree Rashaed. The Galaxy class deserves #1. One of the guys made a comment about the original Enterprise from TOS because that is the ship he grew up with. I can truly relate to his comment as I grew up with the Enterprise-D and it will forever be my favorite. I will have to say that I agree with some of the others though that the Intrepid class should have made this list over some of the others we know so much less about. Thanks for putting the time into creating this clip.
Absolutely loved the guitar! Loved the footage of the ships, but not entirely digging the rankage. The Constitution will always be #1 for me! And does anyone besides me notice that the Akira class is like a Klingon cruiser? The Klingons and the Federation really took that treaty to a bonding level!
Intrepid is only an honorable mention? Sure, people may dislike the series but you have got to be kidding me it's not in the top 5. That ship is just pure beauty....
***** I don't know but getting home from the delta quadrant having to square off with many new species, including the Borg, I'd say the Intrepid proved it's worth... And she's so beautiful :)
***** Well, the Sovereign-class isn't a science vessel, but an heavy assault cruiser with strong scientific abilities as Starfleet's main goal is exploration and scientific research. And by the way, it's logical both Sovereign and Intrepid have the same sci abilities as they're using pretty much the same technology ( I think Intrepid's one may be a bit more advanced, but not enough to show a true difference ).
I especially like the Defiant class and the Akira class (which IMHO have had way to little screen time), both because they look really nice and are capable of really kicking some ass.
My personal top 10 canon Federation ships 1. Constitution refit USS Enterprise NCC-1701 (Star Trek I-III) and NCC 1701-A (Star Trek IV-VI) 2. Constitution class USS Enterprise NCC-1701 (Star Trek 2009) 3. Miranda class (USS Reliant NCC-1864) 4. USS Excelsior (NX-2000/NCC-2000) 5. Akira class 6. Defiant class 7. Sovereign class USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E 8. USS Enterprise NCC-1701-B (Excelsior class upgrade) 9. Constitution class USS Enterprise NCC-1701 (Star Trek TOS) 10. USS Vengeance (Star Trek Into Darkness) BTW, great music in the video, Rashaed. :)
the Vengeance was awesome shame it didn't last long, the first and only on screen dreadnaught class federation vessel I've seen. As surely the Federation should have had some especially during war times!
I gotta admit, I like the Akira class best. I just think that ship is underrated 9 out of 10 times. Not to mention, it is technically an assault carrier. That right there to me says "awesome". Also the ship design to me is just plain cool. Thank you for at least giving it the #4 position!
Awesome. Defiant, Sovereign, and Galaxy. Those are my favorites. Akira class is pretty cool too. That music is really really badass. Is there somewhere I can download it?
Sovereign has to be my very favorite class. It may seem slightly generic, but it's just fucking amazing. Super powerful looking, with that really sleek and long look. The small deflector, the quantum torpedoes, secondary bridge; those violent looking nacelles accompanied by the elegance of the rest of the design. The secondary bridge, lack of saucer separation. I'm working towards an Assault Cruiser (Sovereign class of course) in STO right now. I'm willing to do all of the STO missions again, just for that thing.
i bought a constitution refit this past december and I've been working on it to make it as good as I can. Ive seen some crazy good work from regular amt kits
I sorf of agree because I got tired of the 4-foot Galaxy-class. But once they went CG with the USS Enterprise-D in Generations and the USS Venture and USS Galaxy in DS9, I love it!
***** My favourite will always be the Galaxy class. One of the most versitile and powerful Shipclasses. Its able to take long voyages and to supply its Crew without the need to be refilled or checked often. It has 11 Phasers 3 Torpedoramps and an highly advanced shield tecnology and is therefor able to withstand almost every enemy even if its outnumbered. Its one of the few Ships that survived an one on one fight with an Borg-Cube and it were able to make the first contact with more Species than any ship class before. Its an awesome ship class and its design is one of my favourites too. In my eyes its an refined version of the Constitution class design.
Max Mustermann And ST Generations ruins all of this when the Enterprise is destroyed by a Klingon Bird of Prey, which was so old, that maybe even Kirk fought them effectively.
Hehe the NX ship design for the enterprise series was based on the Akira. :3 And the more well known Akira was named Thunderchild as a nod to the ship in the war of the worlds book. :3
The galaxy class was designed as a multi purpose starship. Including exploration and combat. At the time of its creation it was the most advanced starship. It's bigger than any other ship in the fleet (the sovereign is longer, the area of it is smaller) It was heavily used in the Dominion War to flank the smaller ships. And that's why it is a battleship, plus everywhere i look thats what they classify it as
in the the last image of the enterprise A the forward running lights are backwards..port is left and is red..starboard is right and is green..they are backwards in this image.
Just the ( unexpected ) thing to cheer me up after a rough nightshift...cheers buddy! Mind you, nothing still beats an original constitution class with a Kirk full of Red Bull inviting the Klingons out of the pub and into the car park for some " photon diplomacy. "
I really like the Miranda class, like the other guy said Miranda are the back bone of Starfleet and like you said the longest Star Fleet design age and out lived the constitution class like you said!
I was not old enough to actually see the original series with Kirk but I seen the movies but never the first seasons with Kirk, TNG was when I came into the mix and was actually old enough to understand what was going on.
Hm, yes, well, it's a personal list, so most people will disagree. I'd certainly put the Constitution-refit and Sovereign as 1 and 2, and I'd find room for the Nova and Miranda classes - in fact the Nova would be my 3.
Same reason I picked Constitution Class over the Sovereign Class: design. The Constitution and Galxay still look powerful but graceful and elegant at the same time. The Sovereign Class just gives off a pure military feel. And it didn't even look good until Nemesis.
I agree the galaxy is number one shame Star Fleet lost so many which is incredibly costly... Shame we didn't see many Ambassador Class during the Dominion War!
yeah but how did she end up one hit away from destruction the defiant shudnt be as strong as a refitted excelsior well i didnt think they were as strong but maybe i was wrong
If I were to have a large cruiser I would want the Nebula or Akira hands down. If I were wanting something zippy and compact it would be either steamrunner or the sabre love those ship designs.
I personally think the Galaxy class is a highly moddable powerhouse if you refit right it internally & do away with the ambassadorial utilities that comes with the standard package. I know they were able to get the Enterprise D up to actual ludicrous speeds with some interference from the Traveler (& to some extent via Wesley Crusher). The mirror Enterprise D was also most likely more powerful, but am not sure of the actual specs. Same can be said to any ship "modded" right in terms of "power".
Yea, I do have to say, Akira class over the Prometheus. You sighted visual appeal as a factor, the Akira is just so pretty. It's the only ship I fly in STO when I'm not PvPing.
...I would also like to add that what I said earlier takes into consideration any and all technology applicable that can be incorporated into said ships. Intrepid classes like Voyager can probably go toe to toe with anything given the right "cheats" like some of the armor and tech future Janeway gave them towards the end of Voyager.
DS9:"Call to Arms", "Favor the Bold", "Sacrifice of Angels", "Statistical Probabilities", "The Magnificent Ferengi", "Tears of the Prophets", "Afterimage", "Field of Fire", "The Changing Face of Evil" and "What You Leave Behind" VOY: "Relativity" and "Endgame"
@Rashaed You're welcome! Why the Miranda? She's sleek, was badass in ST:II(Khan in command helped) and huge numbers were still in service in the 2370s. A lot of them were destroyed by the Dominion(which I think was just the special effects guys using large numbers of an easy model to reproduce and destroy) butmany others survived meaning they succeded in giving as good as they got. People underestimate them...which makes me like them more.
I probably would have swapped the sovereign and galaxy class, replaced the akira with the Armatige akira refit and swapped the sabre for the intrepid myself, But your list is still pretty good
As good as this list is, I'd make more than a few revisions. 10. Miranda 9. Classic Constitution 8. Saber 7. Constitution Refit 6. Excelsior 5. Akira 4. Galaxy 3. Prometheus 2. Sovreign 1. Defiant Honorables: Steamrunner, Intrepid, Nebula, New Orleans, Oberth, Ambassador
The refitted Constitution class from the original cast movies is my personal favorite. Hell, the crew loved the ship so much they refused to decommission it when they were ordered to, and instead took it for one last all-night cruise. That was a beautiful scene.

Best. Comment. Ever.
Loved your choices; and the friggin' music, awesome!
Starting at around 3:45, I couldn't stay properly focused on the picture, because I got gradually more and more immersed in the fantastic guitar solo. :-) Beautiful!!!!
So glad you didn't gimp out on #1. I don't care about nostalgia, the Galaxy Class was just a beautiful, powerful, beast of a ship. A work of art.
Agreed, the Miranda Class starships is the redshirts of Starfleet.
Excellent work! My top 10 in no particular order are Excelsior, Sovereign, Ambassador, Galaxy, Constitution Refit, Defiant, Akira, Constitution Original, Miranda, and Nebula.
Agree totally the galaxy class was like Home for me for over 7 years! Wish she was still in service!
nice job on pic and such....Absolutely excellent job on the music, could listen to that all night.
Thanks!
Cool little video, and I like you overall rankings. Especially since the "Emperess of the Galaxy' is in her appointed place in number 1. Cool mix of stills and video.
Constitution class refit is my favorite. I like the lines. Classic.
WOW! great music!
Good question. Rudimentary and elegant design. I'd say number 12.
Respect your choice.Every 1's different.I love all ship designs but for me the Constitution Refit will always be my favourite design but the original Constitution, being the 1st will always have a special place in my heart.Live Long and Prosper to All!!
ahhh i bet Janeway wished she had a galaxy class ship when she got stranded in the delta quadrant :P
+Tarek Chamas I doubt it since the galaxy class would have attracted more attention than the intrepid did
Nice tribute! Good to see you know about ST: Bridge Commander. :-)
Both Saber and Streamrunner classes appear in DS9 and VOY episodes.
Epic music!
Intrepid is only an honorable mention? Sure, people may dislike the series but you have got to be kidding me it's not in the top 5. That ship is just pure beauty....
I kid you not...
***** I don't know but getting home from the delta quadrant having to square off with many new species, including the Borg, I'd say the Intrepid proved it's worth... And she's so beautiful :)
Don't hate me for saying this but I liked Voyager, the show as well as the ship.
Who dislikes the series? I totally loved it! (no offense to those who didn't)
***** Well, the Sovereign-class isn't a science vessel, but an heavy assault cruiser with strong scientific abilities as Starfleet's main goal is exploration and scientific research. Good job on the list.
Thanks!
I especially like the Defiant class and the Akira class (which IMHO have had way to little screen time), both because they look really nice and are capable of really kicking some ass.
7:19 Galaxy Class is so happy it's smiling!
Nice 🖖 and the music was awesome ✌️
So many starship classes being listed, here's an idea. Would love to see a video list of all Star Trek Federation Starship Classes.
My personal top 10 canon Federation ships
1. Constitution refit USS Enterprise NCC-1701 (Star Trek I-III) and NCC 1701-A (Star Trek IV-VI)
2. Constitution class USS Enterprise NCC-1701 (Star Trek 2009)
3. Miranda class (USS Reliant NCC-1864)
4. USS Excelsior (NX-2000/NCC-2000)
5. Akira class
6. Defiant class
7. Sovereign class USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E
8. USS Enterprise NCC-1701-B (Excelsior class upgrade)
9. Constitution class USS Enterprise NCC-1701 (Star Trek TOS)
10. USS Vengeance (Star Trek Into Darkness)
BTW, great music in the video, Rashaed. :)
the Vengeance was awesome shame it didn't last long, the first and only on screen dreadnaught class federation vessel I've seen. As surely the Federation should have had some especially during war times!
I really, really love the ST them played an that electric guitar....really awesome !!!!
I gotta admit, I like the Akira class best. I just think that ship is underrated 9 out of 10 times. Not to mention, it is technically an assault carrier. That right there to me says "awesome". Also the ship design to me is just plain cool. Thank you for at least giving it the #4 position!
It may only be #9, but it is nice to see the Steamrunner Class get some props.
NCC-74205-A at 00:01:13?
Awesome. Defiant, Sovereign, and Galaxy. Those are my favorites. Akira class is pretty cool too.
That music is really really badass. Is there somewhere I can download it?
Where did you get the music from? Does anyone know?
+EarlRegent Perhaps the 5th level of hell?
I, too, would love to know the source of the music.
Read the description.
*Trekkie from day one of TOS and Galaxy class will always be my favorite.*
Beautiful music: the Ilia's Theme with electic guitars!
The secondary bridge, lack of saucer separation. i bought a constitution refit this past december and I've been working on it to make it as good as I can. Ive seen some crazy good work from regular amt kits
Good list, works for me.
I just want to say that the rock version of "Ilia's theme song" from star trek the motion picture was amazing!!
Constitution refit is number 1 for me. Galaxy class becomes slightly dated in design with time, but the 1701 is forever a classic.
I sorf of agree because I got tired of the 4-foot Galaxy-class. But once they went CG with the USS Enterprise-D in Generations and the USS Venture and USS Galaxy in DS9, I love it!
*****
The D in Generations was a refurb of the 6' model it wasn't CGI
Matthew Walkley But it still looks way better than anything on the show IMO :)
Max Mustermann And ST Generations ruins all of this when the Enterprise is destroyed by a Klingon Bird of Prey, which was so old, that maybe even Kirk fought them effectively.
Awesome selection:). It would've been awesome if you had included the NX-01
+Frankie Lerma Akira-class is close enough.
good video, my only suggestion is to list the show/movie the ship appeared in.some of us are getting old.
Good to see the Akira on the list. :P
It looks like an upside down NX-01 ship
Hehe the NX ship design for the enterprise series was based on the Akira. :3 And the more well known Akira was named Thunderchild as a nod to the ship in the war of the worlds book. :3
Nice top 10 video, I agree with most but I would have the top 3 be:
1. Soverign
2. Intrepid
3. Akira
what episode hade a defiant fighting an exceleior????
@Rashaed i fail to see how the intrepid isnt on there but the constitution, ans sabre are.
The galaxy class was designed as a multi purpose starship. Including exploration and combat. At the time of its creation it was the most advanced starship. It's bigger than any other ship in the fleet (the sovereign is longer, the area of it is smaller) It was heavily used in the Dominion War to flank the smaller ships. in the the last image of the enterprise A the forward running lights are backwards..port is left and is red..starboard is right and is green..they are backwards in this image.
I don't know why, but I've always liked the Excelsior Refit. The Sovereign and Defiant class were also great.
+SkyScourgeGod I also really like the Excelsior refit, it has to be my favourite. Closely followed by the Miranda.
Just the ( unexpected ) thing to cheer me up after a rough nightshift...cheers buddy!
Mind you, nothing still beats an original constitution class with a Kirk full of Red Bull inviting the Klingons out of the pub and into the car park for some " photon diplomacy. "
I love the metal remix of the Star Trex shows theme song and the ships are bad either. Good Job. :)
where did you find the awesome metal star trek theme?
Read the description.
no Miranda? what the hell, the Miranda class lasted longer than the Constitution and Khan made it terrifying
+Michael McCoy (Readermike) Miranda and Excelsior class starships are the backbone of Starfleet!
I really like the Miranda class, like the other guy said Miranda are the back bone of Starfleet and like you said the longest Star Fleet design age and out lived the constitution class like you said!
Only because he had Enterprises shield codes. Otherwise it would have been no match for the Enterprise.
What about the Olympic class like the USS Pasteur and the Intrepid class like the USS Voyager?
where is this music from
How come you didn't show the Prometheus separating?
I don't have that episode.
For the number one choice I agree with you all the way. That was the ship I liked since I started watching Star Trek.
+Darren Klein so you really only started watching star trek when it was the TNG series?
I was not old enough to actually see the original series with Kirk but I seen the movies but never the first seasons with Kirk, TNG was when I came into the mix and was actually old enough to understand what was going on.
i looked at a blueprint for prometheus, i noticed it doesnt ahve much weapons, just a few phaser banks and no photon tubes
The Enterprise-E is superior to the Enterprise-D in every way except for passenger capacity really? So why did you pick the Galaxy over the Sovereign?
The Sovereign Class is my favourite Ship :D
In idle curiosity, Rashaed, where do you rank the original un-refit Constitution?
Pretty good choice here. But for me I'd have the Refit at 1.The original at 2 and The BIG E at 3.Thanks for sharing..
ok, where did you find the definition of a battleship on star trek? and where does it say the Sovereign is a dreadnought?
The music is pretty dang good. The rest is debatable.
Great video please tell me where you got the music
Go to desktopstarships. (com)
Hm, yes, well, it's a personal list, so most people will disagree. I'd certainly put the Constitution-refit and Sovereign as 1 and 2, and I'd find room for the Nova and Miranda classes - in fact the Nova would be my 3.
Constitution Class should be at the top.
Same reason I picked Constitution Class over the Sovereign Class: design. The Constitution and Galxay still look powerful but graceful and elegant at the same time. The Sovereign Class just gives off a pure military feel. And it didn't even look good until Nemesis.
Thought Prometheus and Defiant should of been higher. Great vid.
What do you think canon means?
I agree the galaxy is number one shame Star Fleet lost so many which is incredibly costly... Shame we didn't see many Ambassador Class during the Dominion War!
yeah but how did she end up one hit away from destruction the defiant shudnt be as strong as a refitted excelsior well i didnt think they were as strong but maybe i was wrong

The music was done by Marcos Kleine and THE KLEINE PROJECT.
Best Star trek guitar EVER! :D
I can't remember where the Sabre and Steamrunner classes were featured. I only remember them from the Armada games.
+I M Ofage Star Trek: First Contact
Yea, I do have to say, Akira class over the Prometheus. You sighted visual appeal as a factor, the Akira is just so pretty. It's the only ship I fly in STO when I'm not PvPing.
so its a torpedo ship? like akira?
It was incredible how fast those new kind of sleeker Romulan warships got their asses kicked in that scene from Nemesis.
I ran a few Star Trek RPGs, the first was set on a Miranda, the most recent was set on a Steamrunner. My fave was the Steamrunner.
the excelsior class is by far the best design
My Top- Favourite Ship- Class is the Defiant- Class. It´s Powerfull and it can stand a fight most longer than other Ships.
Junk the constitution class is the best looking star trek ship. The Galaxy class looks top heavy and kinda freaky.
who cares they suck compared to the original.
Why does everyone forget about the Ambassador Class? I love that ship!
@Rashaed i´d say tr running the game itself in another resolution. with 1024x768 youre alwas on the safe side with aspects.
...I would also like to add that what I said earlier takes into consideration any and all technology applicable that can be incorporated into said ships. Intrepid classes like Voyager can probably go toe to toe with anything given the right "cheats" like some of the armor and tech future Janeway gave them towards the end of Voyager.
constitution class hands down perfection
DS9:"Call to Arms", "Favor the Bold", "Sacrifice of Angels", "Statistical Probabilities", "The Magnificent Ferengi", "Tears of the Prophets", "Afterimage", "Field of Fire", "The Changing Face of Evil" and "What You Leave Behind"
VOY: "Relativity" and "Endgame"
So why are these ships in your top ten?
I personaly would have put the soverign as first, but the others are good though
Nebula Class #1, Steamrunner Class #2, then a mixed bag of Akira, Defiant, Galaxy, Ambassador, Miranda, Constitution, Oberth, and who knows.
My fav is the Excelsior-class, the Con. Refit-class, and the Galaxy-class.
No Miranda Class, or did I miss it?
Whee! The Steamrunner made the list :D
hay umm at the end you showed an intreped class ship and if im not mistaken you didnt show one in any of the top ten
I probably would have swapped the sovereign and galaxy class, replaced the akira with the Armatige akira refit and swapped the sabre for the intrepid myself, But your list is still pretty good
I would've included the NX-Class as an honorable mention, 'cause honestly, I thought it was pretty cool.
I pretty much did. NX is just the Akira class smaller and upside down.
No constellation-Class?
As good as this list is, I'd make more than a few revisions.
10. Miranda
9. Classic Constitution
8. Saber
7. Constitution Refit
6. Excelsior
5. Akira
4. Galaxy
3. Prometheus
2. Sovreign
1. Defiant
Honorables: Steamrunner, Intrepid, Nebula, New Orleans, Oberth, Ambassador
