I just got back to playing trombone again today, and even though I only have a large bore tenor, now that my neck is bigger and offsets the angle of the trombone, the tension over time just kills my left hand and my neck. Ordered the leather co strap immediately, thanks for the tip
Thanks for the info !! Hey, try this for your (iPhone) camera: Once you get your shot where you want it, hold you finger in the center of your camera and it will lock the focus in place. If you keep holding it, it will also lock the lighting in place. Cheers.
@@AidanRitchie Well… I tried 😊 Is that a phone or an actual camera? There’s probably a way to stop auto focus. Perhaps, as one of my esteemed colleagues once quipped, “Steve… you think to much”. 😉
Aiden, Hello. I didn’t even know these were a thing! I have rheumatoid arthritis and after a while of playing my King bass trombone, my left arm gets fatigued. I’ll definitely have to look into this.
I don't think so. The lever action on the slide tube is pretty minimal considering where the strap ends up. Older straps went around the mouthpiece shank so were farther out, but even then I don't think anything would happen unless you had a really badly built slide.
@@AidanRitchie thanks, just wanted to be sure. I’m thinking about attempting to fabricate my own leather strap but wanted to make sure that it was completely safe first!
What size is your Leather Specialties grip? There are 3 sizing options on the website, and I want to make sure I get the right size for a bass trombone slide.
Is this something you can use on a straight tenor trombone without an f attachment? I have a jazz peashooter and I am looking into these but cannot find specific sizing; are they universal?
Yes. I've used mine on straight trombones as well. I recommend the Leather Specialties strap- it comes in several sizes. If you're using it on a small bore straight trombone, I'd prooooobably get the small size? But I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure the one I have is a medium.

@@SteveStockmalMusic this was my Google pixel 5a I think. But I see the issue plenty with all cameras. Oh well, not the biggest deal

Cool man, thanks again !!

Hey while I have you, have you ever tried the neo tech grip ?
Looks promising

They're great! I think ergobone can be better if you really need support, but this is a good place to start.
My Neotech grip is pretty awkward on my bass, might try one of these.
I like my Neotech, but only on my small tenor.
is there any possibility of the pressure from the strap negatively effecting the lead pipe or any other part of the slide?
I don't think so. The lever action on the slide tube is pretty minimal considering where the strap ends up. Older straps went around the mouthpiece shank so were farther out, but even then I don't think anything would happen unless you had a really badly built slide.

cool vids. I have a King with a index fingerhook on the slide, so no chance for using this I guess :(
They're still usable with the finger hook. Just has to be longer

I think I have the medium one, but I really don't know!
