Dennis, we adore you and your videos. Rick Steves has a lot to learn from you! We used to watch him to prep for our trips & learn about other places but we are so glad we found you. Your honest style, thorough information & production is fantastic. We love your music choices & storytelling. Thank you for being you and we hope you decide to write some more travel guides!!
Hi Kitkat, Thanks so much for those lovely comments, and encouragement. You can also find out more travel info about my destinations on my website: townsofeurope.com/ Which could keep you busy until I create some more travel guidebooks, like my Rome on Foot book: www.videoguidebooks.com/
Have the pleasure of living in Liège for a year back in the day. This is the very best video I've ever seen of Liège -- which, in my opinion, really IS the cultural capital of Wallonia (the southern, French speaking half of Belgium)
Always fun to watch a video from yr own town and learning new stuff lol shop on yr left is a must try ! 2:58, great pizza Amazing bakery and pastry shop 5:10, u can have breakfast as well. 14:54, andre, the best butcher in town.
Thank you a very nice summary. :) A few things were missing too bad you did not visit the garden of liege. just before you go up the stairs the Bueren, turn left just before the stairs, a staircase 1 metre wide will take you up among beautiful buildings and great view of the city.
I personally like Liège. I think it has a lot of potential. Unfortunately they constructed too many ugly 60's buildings near the riverside. My wish is to see more interesting architecture or even some traditional reconstructions of some of its lost buildings. I like the historic city center with it's splendid churches and other historic structures and the unique shops that are often owned by young entrepreneurs with very innovative shop concepts. The only downside especially in summer is the odour of pee and drug addicts that are roaming some of its streets. I think that the city deserves better gouvernance. I am curious how the city will develop after the tram is fully operational.
Very judicious comment. I have been living in Liege approximately 6 years in the 2000's. It's a beautiful historical city indeed but it's very far from being a model in some of its aspects.
When traveling, I would imagine that four things should be important for the traveler. #1 Currency exchange rates. #2 Gas stations. #3 Public restrooms. #4 The Local Police.
@@denniscallan As a walloon I must concede that cities in Flanders are more beautifull; But Tournai, Mons, Namur and Liège are not bad at all . But many parts of them were destroyed by recent and older wars .

Liège est la meilleure des villes de Belgique 😊bienvenue chez moi❤❤❤
From 1986 until 1989 I learned there for carving ( Liege style carvings). And now I myself am known all over the world.

Très beau liège
yes, beautiful
Prachtige stad, vooral al de trappen en de oude steegjes zijn prachtig.

Thanks for that detailed observation.

LIEGE - CHARLEROI - MONS
Flander speaks Flemish I guess they know dutch but spoken language is Flemish first
Have to say I (very much) prefer the cities of Flanders.
Liege is every bit as beautiful as Fanders towns, and Wallonia does have many other fine places to visit. Thanks for your comment.

@@jme104 I agree, and visited all of them, with videos to be created soon.
